Yeah. I always thought it funny that the person claiming to be for all people is labeled a dozen or so isms and ists while the people pandering to and patronizing any level or form of minority (that they actively aggrieve through backwards policies) are championed as saviors.
I like this guy:
quote:
Life in general has never been even close to fair, so the pretense that the government can make it fair is a valuable and inexhaustible asset to politicians who want to expand government.
quote:
Although the big word on the left is 'compassion,' the big agenda on the left is dependency.
quote:
Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.
quote:
The first lesson of economics is scarcity: there is never enough of anything to fully satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.
quote:
Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good.
quote:
Immigration laws are the only laws that are discussed in terms of how to help people who break them.
quote:
The most fundamental fact about the ideas of the political left is that they do not work. Therefore we should not be surprised to find the left concentrated in institutions where ideas do not have to work in order to survive.
quote:
One of the most pervasive political visions of our time is the vision of liberals as compassionate and conservatives as less caring.
quote:
What 'multiculturalism' boils down to is that you can praise any culture in the world except Western culture - and you cannot blame any culture in the world except Western culture.
quote:
Facts are not liberals' strong suit. Rhetoric is.
quote:
Would you bet your paycheck on a weather forecast for tomorrow? If not, then why should this country bet billions on global warming predictions that have even less foundation?
quote:
Both free speech rights and property rights belong legally to individuals, but their real function is social, to benefit vast numbers of people who do not themselves exercise these rights.
quote:
In various countries and times, leaders of groups that lagged behind, economically and educationally, have taught their followers to blame all their problems on other people - and to hate those other people.
quote:
It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.
quote:
All the political angst and moral melodrama about getting 'the rich' to pay 'their fair share' is part of a big charade. This is not about economics, it is about politics.
quote:
Mystical references to society and its programs to help may warm the hearts of the gullible but what it really means is putting more power in the hands of bureaucrats.
quote:
Do countries with strong gun control laws have lower murder rates? Only if you cherry-pick the data.
And, in all candor, were I only able to ask one question . . . it would be why you choose to spend so much of your time, energy and emotional investment on an American forum, discussing American Motorcycles?
No one can be that stupid . . . . there has to be another reason.
Now that the head of the DHS has announced the "Russian thing" is bogus, before Congress, we can discuss Kurdistan.
Perhaps a call on the Commie Pope to negotiate with Obama's good friend Vladimir over keeping his Syrian base in exchange for us stopping Iran's oil export capacity?
Explain to the German Chancellor that she can negotiate European fuel from Russia with Vladimir?
Ask the Saudis to destroy either Iran's military on the Gulf or their Wahabist blackmailers? Because with fracking we don't need them to run OPEC, we'll let Russia do it?
While we're at it, suggest to China that they negotiate with S. Korea about being new neighbors and living in as much harmony as possible after the fortunate demise of the Kim dynasty? There's lots of money China can con out of the UN for relief efforts to save former slaves in former N. Korea. ( we could even use Obama's contacts in China to have them remove Kim. They're not squeamish. )
It's going to be all about the Art of the Deal. TGIT.
I usually keep quiet with regards to this toolbag ... but seriously, why is he allowed on this board anymore? All he does is hurl insults. He does not add a single thing to the board ... not even from a divergent viewpoint that sparks interesting debate.
We must find a way to end Barry's Wars without the evil and selfish way the Democrat Congress screwed Vietnam after Nixon ended L.B.Johnson's war there.
The fact that Barry's Wars are destroying Europe and the middle east are ignored by the D propaganda organs. Don't let their evil make you forget people are dying.
People from other countries love to tell you how bad you have it until it's pointed out how untrue that is.
Facts tend to destroy the idiocy.
My Canadian brother in law is the same way.
I tell him he should listen to historians, economists, analysts, and actual scientists instead politicians and political hacks.
What we are debating are not new ideas.
When you tell people the facts that we're the only remaining superpower and lead the world in most all things...including the hot button issues of immigration and social spending. Frankly social programs are a good measure of waste and inefficiency...but I digress.
...And sorry, but a poor, starving country isn't going to be full of fat asses. To my understanding our "poor" are among the top richest 20% in the world. What a stupid premise. The post modernist neo-Marxist social justice idiots always base all their crap on the "poor" and evil 1%. If you want to stifle economic growth the tax the crap out of those who create it. I don't think I've ever seen a skinny family on WIC or with an EBT card. We are a nation of shameless excess, yet have a pervasive culture of ignorant, shameless wanna be victims.
Oh look, Australia...you're the best at...crime and victimization...especially towards women. Wonderful. Recent statistics are hard to find as apparently the Australian government would rather folks believe "gun control" fixed everything, apparently.
Rick; Thank you for these stats, and for including the sources. I can only be told I'm a greedy, hateful, racist so and so, just because I have a job and don't want to see my taxes go up so many times before my disposition turns dour. I feel better now, about all of us.

Honestly, I didn't care much until the incessant political rhetoric permeated every aspect of the media and I had to look for myself.
My main concern in the political debate was the future of our 1st and 2nd Amendments.
I've been watching a lot of lectures by economists, analysts, and historians. We are not debating new ideas. These progressive ideologies have been a part of American politics since the 20's and 30's. They are predicated on failed ideas, and almost completely sold by lies, suppositions, baseless rhetoric, and emotional pleas. They tend to enable rather than solve problems in almost every case. It's a bizzare phenomenon that the "most progressive" party has the most support from those are are most adversely affected by such policies.
Politics are ultimately not about what is factually correct. It's unfortunately about what people can be lead to believe.
My biggest concern with the Trump administration is that protectionist economic and trade policies stifle growth and trade.
They should have also destroyed the A.C.A. as it stood. The interventionist health care and insurance policies of the past few decades have only exacerbated what they claim to fix. The only good to come out of the A.C.A. was insuring the uninsurable, though, literally, at the detriment of everyone else.
For everything else I'm more or less on board.
Hillary running as Obama 2.0 was an utterly and profoundly stupid tactic...but Putin, Russia, muh democracy!
I've been asking that question for months. Apparently...we have our own snowflakes here at Badweb, and we don't want to hurt poor Alf, regardless of how disrespectful and openly hateful he is, and how little he actually contributes here that is even the least bit useful.
I say let him find a safe zone on some other forum. We don't need him or his vitriol here.
Pure propaganda by the Barry regime. But buried many pages in they state the Russian thing is a lie.
Heard this this morning. The New Pravda Journalism has an inflammatory lie for a headline. Quotes anonymous sources, and buries the admission that there is no evidence ever found for the lies of the headline.
The Mexican president is correct. The drug war in America does drive the profits of organized crime. That's why drug lords bribed Bill Clinton to keep drugs illegal.
Make pot legal and crime doesn't vanish, however. People will try to evade taxes no matter the stuff taxed. ( pot & cigarettes are much easier to smuggle than gasoline ) But there's no doubt that growing pot locally hurts imports and crime.
Since we don't grow poppies or coca here that logic doesn't apply here. But the only reasons we don't are legal, not practical.
I'm not advocating doing excessive recreational drugs, and have mixed emotions about the opium & coca based products. The moral issues aren't black and white but the libertarian view is that pragmatism shows far fewer dead and ruined lives with overdoses than gang violence for illegal drug sales. U.S. policies enforce monopolies and are a humanitarian disaster.
Why do the rich strive to get richer? Ask Trump! Ask Romney, or any freak looking to line their pockets at other peoples expense. Money buys power in the USA, not Justice and Truth. Scum of the earth!
C'mon Alf, we fall over ourselves to flog coal and gas. We do special deals for the fat cats like twiggy, Gina and BHP. We sell our ore deposits to the Chinese our coal reserves to Indian corporations, (and subsidise their trashing of the reef), our ports(Newcastle) to the Chinese and allow open cut mining that destroys the groundwater table and our best farmland. At the same time we export our natural gas and don't invest in modern power systems with the net result that the cost of power has doubled and there are shortages of natural gas because the governments which privatised efficient systems are too incompetent to manage the market. I might also add that we have willingly cut our access for our children to higher education and elected governments which attack the public health system. I might add that our treatment of illegal refugees is unconscionable and our record with the health, education and welfare of our indigenous population is shameful. The way we went about trying negotiate(steal) a large share of East Timor's(a supposed ally)oil was also a pretty poor performance. We also have major issues with non-firearm violence, fuelled by ice and drunkeness, including against women. We have a long way to go before we can start throwing stones at other countries' glasshouses.
All countries around the world primarily burn stuff for power. This U.S. trashing the earth, killing the children, ending the world crap is pure, utter nonsense. We're just not bankrolling the development of other countries at our detriment again this time.
Most strive to get richer. Hell, I've gotten more than I ever dreamed of through a lifetime of what amounts to menial jobs. That somebody may achieve more is not my concern. The socialist progressive liberal neo-Marxist post modernist mantra is the creed of selfishness, hate and envy. Expanding the government and rewarding failure, dependence, and criminality is not a model to follow...unless you like big government, failure, and oppression. Eighty plus years of progressive policies have devastated the communities and cultures they claim to help.
At the core of all progressive policies is government expansion, government regulation, and government control, all of which does the opposite of what it purports.
All of Alfalfa's talking points are rhetoric and nonsense.
"Trust us, we're the government" has never been a good model to follow for the general populace.
The thing that separates the über liberal societies and the U.S. is that their leaders have convinced the people that giving up their personal power, control, freedom, and rights was the moral, upright, and virtuous thing to do. Nonsense.
Bill Clinton decreed a national park in Utah after being bribed by Indonesian coal interests. It covers an area the size of a European country ( or Australian ranch ) that just happens to hold a bazillion tons of.....coal. Now off limits to mining.
Fine, it's in a dry area and we can get back to it in a few decades. Might as well save it for a reserve. Bill still got richer selling out the American citizens. Just like Hillary approved the Uranium One deal..... after millions in bribes.
I admire the Aussies for firing a politician who took an expensive bottle of wine. Barry & Bill between them took well over a Billion and a half from illegal foreign sources. It is a bit unfair to lump them together. They hate each other. Wish they were in the same jail cell.
Maybe we can put Bill and Hillary in the same cell? I think the Geneva convention forbids such torture.
