on the thread locker juice the factory is using ,it is taking any fun out of maintaining these wonderfull machines. Front brake caliper allen head bolts......Damnnn. Locktite 242 has never failed me yet ,thats what it is getting reassembled with. The Rice bikes I have owned are complete opposite , crack the fastener loose then spin it off by hand.....Buell logic: apply red locktite , tighten to yield Did the tubers leave a trail of parts behind them or something to lead to this type of assembly? With that rant done ,this is the most funnest street bike I have ever ridden period |

Yes, the tubers did shake a lot of fasteners loose. |

Yeah Sokota.......I've had similar issues. Evidence of Loctite on entire bolt! Seriously.....is it still that necessary? |

It might very well be necessary. The 45 degree twin shakes so much it would make Elvis proud. |

Look at it this way. Would you rather the fasteners be backing themselves out? I'm sure that would be baaaaad news for Buell if they did. Just clean it and reapply when you remove it |

Would you rather the fasteners be backing themselves out? Actually, after having spent the last few days drilling out and helicoiling the striped out bolt that holds my fender on, I think I'd rather deal with back outs. |

A medium strength thread locker is the suggestion , such as Loctite 242 , will dissasemble without heat or impact gun without stripping fastener head or its threads . I have wrenched on lots of machinery , including machines whose purpose is to vibrate . Medium srength thread locker used properly has never failed me , as I maintain this bike using 242 its not going to start losing bits ,it will get easier to service though .Hey if you want to keep it to factory specs , use the high strength concrete stuff ,your choice |

What gets me is that even the body panels (plastic, lightweight, and basically just for looks) come cemented in place. My air box cover, which supports no weight and (obviously) has to be removed for regular maintenance, required some heavy duty wrenches to bust loose. Somebody's gettin' glue-happy! =P ~SM |
