thanks

I'm waiting for silver "BUELL" stickers, just like those on the airbox cover.

I'll put one of them vertically on the windscreen

Hell yeah! That's what I'm talkin about..

Can you give any details on how hard that was to do? And is there any problem fitting up the XB instrument panel with that fly screen? Which fly screen is that anyway? Off an X1?

Very cool!

x1 flyscreen

I still need to put the original instrument back in place.
at the moment I'm working on a alluminium plate.

but I'm tired, and busy... I'll do it in a week or two.

...and yes, I still need to wash the bike LOL

Very nice job. Like the single light, but what the heck is that underneath? Did you have a hard time finding a factory muffler to put on that thing? : )

for those that were asking:

parts: x1 flyscreen, headlight and mounts/fork clamps.

not easy to mount, the clamps are bigger, the headlight hits the frame with its bottom.
you need to lenghten the brackets with a plate.

then you need to do the same thing with the flyscreen, to match headlight position.

then you have to relocate wires and harnesses (worst part of the game)

then you gotta place the original instrument back in its position, I'm working on a custom made aluminium plate, that also acts as a rain shield or as a cap if you prefere.

and then patience patience and...patience.

Sorry but I think the XBS light set-up is a very cool design. What you did belongs on a tube frame Buell. I don't think the 'traditional' round headlamp works at all on the high tech modern Buell.

But each to their own.

I like the round headlight.

Reminds me of a motorcycle.
Lots of motorcycles of days gone by.

Just wondering what kind of steering damper you have there?
Nice mount by the way.

And what kind of mirrors are those, I cant see a damn thing out of my aftermarket items except the tops of my gloves. But I'll deal with it for now though cause the factory ones belong on a banana seat bike from the 70's with a basket on the front and tassles fluttering in the wind.

I agree with Rocket the reason I bought an xb was because of the styling and the fact that I hated the look of that single headlight on the older buells.
But I not dumping on anyone for doing so.

being a kind of function before form guy I have to ask, is the light output better, the same as, or worse than stock?

What is that behind the passenger heel guards also?

Other than that nicely done, when you get gages in there it will have a nice factory style finish. The essence of custom is
doing things only those "in the know" will notice. subtlety is sweet.

viva la difference! french, but captures the idea

the steering damper is a "daytona" you can find pics on a past thread of someone asking about it.

I can't see a damn thing too from my mirrors, they shake within a certain vibration range.

those things behind the hellguard are my disclock's bags;)

the light output...I don't know, I didn't ride @ night yet;) I'll let you know!

thanks everybody for your comments

I like the way the old flyscreen and round headlight give it a "retro" look.

See if you can get Steve to post a picture of his SS Drummer on his XB12S without the chin fairing. It actually brings back some of the raw feeling from the original S1W bikes.

XXXB9S,

I like the look of your XB, a good mix of tube and XB. Would you consider or would you know if the instrument panel from an X1 would fit? I don't much like the current gauges and from all of the posts I've read, it doesn't seem that there are any worthy aftermarket ones to replace the existing one. Seems as though going "back" (to the X1 panel) would compliment the flyscreen and tail. Eh, just a suggestion.

"I don't think the 'traditional' round headlamp works at all on the high tech modern Buell". Guess I'll have to take the twin head lights of my low tech old school Buell! Whatever!!

Looks great Xxxb9s!

it should fit but I don't like it (I also don't have it;))

I'll put the xb9 stock panel once I finish the aluminium mount plate.

There is also a motoscope light instrument on my wish list (see www.motogadget.de) but it is so expansive...
