I have the 2005 XB9SX and I heard that in 2005 the factory was putting the XB12 airbox covers on all the bikes including the XB9's. Is this true or should I keep my order for my 12 airbox? Thanks

Yup. The XB9SX's all come with the new inner airbox. You can tell be looking for the nipple in the middle, you might even be able to tell it through the outer cover on the 9sx.

There is still good ground to be gained by keeping the "inside the filter" portion and finding a way to tack it down (lots of ideas and pictures around here) and cutting away all the "outside the filter" parts. It will be much louder, but breath a lot better.

For that reason, for the price, a second inner cover is nice to have. It gives you one to cut up, and a second to go back to stock with for back to back testing.

Thanks for the info. I will have to cancel the 12 air box cover that I ordered.
