the off idle stumble on the 08 models has been kicked around for a while now...
i havent heard of any cures from American Sport Bike, ecm spy, techlusion, daytona twin tech etc.. any updates?.....the factory re-flash i already had done, isnt worth much....
on one hand, im amazed at the power it puts out above 4k rpm, for a push-rod motor... on the other, around town its a slug and i wonder why it so hard to come up with a cure.. everyone was saying june, which has come and gone..

There is an update re-flash available for the 08s.
Call your dealer and see if they are prepared to do it for you.

I believe they have to hook your bike up to the Digitech(sp?) to find that a new flash is available.

Thanks guys, I think that I found it.

Posting said that: M31US25y is the new ECM # and B31US25o is the old ECM #.

It apparently is for all 08 XB series bikes.

Those ECM numbers don't wring a bell over here. I posted up the pre and post-flash code names in another post. I sucked them out using ECMSpy.

My latest stumble was due to backlash in the throttle cables. This was allowing the throttle plate to bounce around at low rpm, mostly right off idle.

I tightened the front cable first, eliminating all slack at wot. Then tightened the back cable till it was snug. When I started the bike the stumble was gone. Realized on the test ride the cables were too tight when the forks were turned, so I backed of just enough to prevent binding at full lock with the 08 trees.

Last 3 days to work and back, no stumble.

I'll be trying yet again to get them to do this today or tomorrow. It seriously pisses me off that they won't just take 5 minutes and do it without wasting a half hour of everyone's time looking things up and on the phone.
