Folks, I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada where '08 XB12Ss models are scarce if not possible to find. It's been suggested to me that I either go to the US to buy one or that I simply wait for the '09 models to come out. What do you think I should do? I've got a bike right now, but I really want an SS.

Gte the XT instead? Way comfy, that XT.

Naw... while I did ride the XT and found it to be a pretty sweet bike, I want the more aggressive riding stance of the Lightning. Does anyone know what's different for the '09s?

Well, other than that they are non-existant at the moment, and "Buell does not discuss future plans..." No.

Love my Ss. It's comfortable and because of the larger dimensions, feels like a normal bike. Not so radical. I don't think that there will be much change in '09 and you might get a deal on an '08.

The Ss is AWESOME, though I think my riding style would actually be better suited to the XT, minus some luggage. But yeah, the Ss is a great choice.

I'd say go to the US and get one. The Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar right now, so you'd actually come off cheaper getting one down here(unless there are some fees I don't know about).

I phoned HD of Seattle and they said that they couldn't sell me one if I didn't have a piece of ID with a US address on it. I'm a dualie so my passport might suffice. There is a tremendous amount of paperwork involved in importation. My current bike was imported from Arizona (home) and here's the breakdown:
- acquire letter of recalls from manufacturer
- notify border & schedule time to meet for inspection
- pay the import fees
- pay taxes
- get vehicle inspected once across the border

In the end, it's worth paying a little extra to have the importation taken care of for you, but if they can't find me one in BC then I'll consider going down to Portland or something where I can get one without tax.
