Dave - You know you and that pic are inseparable now right? Zack <edit>Been thinking , off and on, about fabbing up a rig like that Ural so I could tow Loretta with the Uly. Life doesn't get better than that. <2nd edit> Has anyone put a sidecar on a Uly? (Message edited by zac4mac on January 28, 2013) |

Here is my contribution.... My 2 babies in my Toyhauler The Jeep and my Touareg can pull without any issues and since both are turbo Diesels, i get pretty decent fuel economy even though the trailer darwfs the tow vehicles... average 14-16mpg.... i hope to have a month long road trip in may from Vegas to Florida and back, but we will see.... Oh the "other" bike is a Ducati Diavel... |

Well I did it, went out an bought a Ford Edge FWD with a tow package. I guess this should pull a small trailer and my bike, with plenty of room for my gear. |

I don't always tow a car at the same time....this was a moving day, CR and S1W in the truck (my diesel Ram). SteveR - interested to hear how you like the diesel Grand Cherokee. They're bringing it back for '14, I'm strongly considering one...they say 4x2 is rated for 30mpg, 4x4 for 28. I'd be interested in some real-world experiences...
edit: I lied. That's the M2 and S1W, not the CR. Where's my coffee...? (Message edited by ratbuell on March 04, 2013) |

well what im towing with depends on the day, where im going, and whos going with me! 08 2500hd duramax family trip to the wisconsin house to go play for the week its normally used for bigger jobs though 2011 on the way to buelltoberfest IA to TN 95 saturn sc2 5spd 30+ mpg running 80 94 plymouth acclaim 4cyl 3spd auto made the trip the year before pulling the same trailer and bike as above, but went all the way to GA. straight through on the way back it also pulled the trailer loaded like below(same 3 bikes) to wisconsin a few times 20+ mpg at 75 with the a/c on... 04 tahoe this was headed to florida to work at gainsville hd and buell for 4 months a few years ago. 96 sc2 5spd does plenty of tow duty also 98 sl1 5spd. just got done putting the hitch and wiring on this new addition. this will be the go to bike tow vehicle for now. everyone has a good laugh at me for using all these cars to pull the bikes and things like that around, when i had the 04 tahoe, and have the 08 duramax just sitting in the garage(only 4-5k on it in the 2 years ive had the dmax) like the first trip to buelltoberfest, it didnt take much math to figure out i would save a few hundred dollars in fuel alone comparing 20mpg in more expensive diesel to 30+ mpg in gas... plus i didnt have to pound those miles on the truck that way |
