Both of ours have the tail extension for the plate and reflector...but no XB-S style filler plate with holes in it. | ||

I've already submitted one new drawing to the machine shop. It was quick and easy. I don't like the toe pegs. They are too short. I did a drawing for some longer round ones. A top triple clamp with higher closer bars is in the near future, MAYBE will get a drawing done before the end of the year but doubtful with our IT upgrades taking all my time. It's designed in my head, just need to implement it. Think 9023 Heli bars, but more adjustable. Al | ||

Oh yea, I've already spoken with Kent at Airtech about the fairing. That won't come soon or fast, but we're talking. Airtech is only a mile from me here. And my switch is already fixed, so mine isn't broken any more...good as new. Al | ||

Good to hear Al!  Just wish my dealer had received my bike. It was expected by yesterday but for some reason of the thirteen bikes shipped to them one of the Harleys and both of the Buells didn't make it. So now they expect it mid NEXT week when the weather turns bad.  | ||

Andrew, I for one VERY MUCH appreciate honesty. Exaggeration is another matter. I may be more sensitive to some terms than some other folks. For instance a "bad weld" to this structural analyst is a very serious problem. Remember the Honda Goldwing? Those were "bad welds". To some folks I suppose "bad weld" may connote "unsightly." Big difference. Concerning honesty and salesmen: An honest salesman is a wonderous thing to behold. Dave Stueve set the bar extremely high on that account. Dave is not only honest, but he is enthusiastic, fun, and thoughtful. On the other hand, a salesman who uses extremely/brutally-strong negative assertions, especially speculative ones, to characterize his product(s), to the public at large no less, is most likely going to be a poor (in all senses of the term) salesman. I'm not here to antagonize. I wanna help. First impression from yesterday - This bike is definitely the brainchild of a gifted Engineer. It's all the little things, part shapes, materials, fasteners. This whole machine is a marvel in that it is a huge collection of smaller marvels. Al is gonna have lots of fun taking his apart I think. Can't wait to head down to Sun and pick mine up and dig into it some more. To Court - Backed off my desire to take it home in the crate. Reed was happy about that. I went to Sun yesterday and decrated it there. Then they did their PDI, first start will be this morning. Lots of hand-shaking for the "owner of the first new Buell" from the folks there. Everybody had to come in and take a look as we unwrapped it. Also to Andrew - you ask about the "cheese grater"; no perforated insert in the tailpiece, just an oval hole. That whole piece with signals is going away pronto on mine. Might just move the signals to the side of the underseat tray. I like them Welds on my muffler are noticeable, but not obvious. Flat black hides a lot. Thinking that a slip-on turn-out would be an easy fix for the exhaust on disk issue.(hint, hint, Al) I'm going to install the Buell heated grip kit today, expect it to take an hour or so. Good to see, Al, that you are working with Airtech. I am running their Suzuki RF fairing and Manta rear tailpiece right now and its quality stuff. I hope you guys are talking about some sort of lowers for the future, sometime. Just my opinion as I love the full fairing look. The 1125's more naked look, though, is really growing on me. P.S. be careful my friend at track days coming up if you ride the new one. Although it probably will not stay in one piece very long for research purposes. Bob | ||

The firebolt Corbin seat fits well. ALL Corbin seats require some playing with the rubber bumpers to make fit. In the case of the Firebolt version, the center bumpers are always too tall and need to be shaved down so that the center catch can go under the frame hoop. I did that, and shaved off the front bumpers that touch the shock tower on the regular firebolts but do nothing on the 1125R. Fits fine, bolts go right in. Another mod: The 1125R pegs are compatible with the firebolt pegs. As such, the 9184 1" drop pegs fit on the bike (with some very minor corner radiussing, trivial really). These old legs can use an extra inch of space. al, can you post pictures of the underside of the seat and seat mounting area. custom fit with a razor knife? checking to see if i should send the seat to my buddy's house with my gear to atlanta for friday's pickup and ride home. At 5'6" 150lb, i don't need extra leg room, not sure about the risers. thanks, tim | ||

I can do it verbally. The mod is trivial. Verify that the brackets are as far forward as they can go. Loosen the bolts, justify forward, tighten the bolts. You can do that before you send the seat, all it takes is a 5/32 Allen wrench. The two front bumpers can be removed altogether, they do nothing on the 1125R. You can either razor blade them down to nothing, or drill the pop rivet and remove them. The two middle bumpers start life from Corbin about 1/2" tall. Shave 1/3 of height from both with a razor blade. Fit seat to bike. If the seat doesn't slide far enough forward for the rear bolts to engage, shave another 1/8" off them and then it will. The hold down tang on the seat is at a slight angle to the hoop on the subframe it goes under. IF the middle bumpers are too high, the tang is what prevents the seat from going any further forward. Reducing the bumper height allows the tang and the seat to go further forward before the tang stops forward motion of the seat. But you want them to be JUST short enough, not overly short, so that they continue to support the rider rather than the seat on the airbox cover taking most of the load. Everything I just wrote, except for the front bumper removal, is true for putting the corbin seat on a Firebolt as well. Having to shave the bumpers to fit is a FEATURE, not a bug. They could have made it so that the seat just went right on, but due to tolerances, some seats would be loose on some bikes. By trimming bumpers to fit, you ensure a nice tight well supported fit. On the license plate bracket: I tool the fuggly piece off and replaced it with a Firebolt bracket. Bolts right up, requires bending the bracket a little to angle it back and that also allows for clearance near the undertail where the turn signals bolt onto the bracket. Also need to fabricate a small panel to cover the hole where the fuggly piece bolts up. Looks 100% better / cleaner. | ||

Yea, actually the 1125r uses the same exact tail light assy as a Firebolt. It's just that stock the 1125r undertail plastic covers up the clear lense on the bottom of the taillight housing that illuminatea the license plate. Cut away the plastic on the undertail that is covering the license plate lense and there you go. | ||

Is that a pink wall? no.. Looking at your picture I see the the two light weight "Dots" on your tire that are not near the valve steam. Judging from the marks I've seen on other new Buells, I think it's neat that Buell takes the time to balance the wheel first, find the heavy spot and match that with the light spots on the tire.
