Oliver

Before you replace the voltage regulator, make sure it is properly grounded. Check for continuity between the voltage regulator and the engine case.

Did you just recently get the upgraded exhaust mount? If you did what might be happening is that they forgot to scrape off some paint off the engin case where the new "y" bracket attaches to the engine, so the voltage regulator is not grounding and thus not charging the battery.

Good luck

Blake,

I forgot to put the word "Italian" in front of the V-Twins before.

They should rename WSB to "Ducati Pro Thunder...."

What happened to FMJ? His effort should have kicked serious ass too.

His sponsors want to know!

Pinkpank (aka The Big Oh): I've got a Y2K M2 shop (Service) manual that I no longer have a good use for. If you're interested I would send it to you in exchange for a US $20 bill. It's on sale, up until about 20 seconds ago I was asking $6,000 for it. But because we're the best of friends and we went to different schools together I'll let it go for much much less. Heck, I'll even through in a free Owners Manual.

I just talked to Richard and the 3:39 second interview will be on www.teamelves.com as soon as we can figure out how to get this .wav file up!...I just roused the good Doctor from his din-din and he's diligently working to get the interview on the website. In the word's of Payl Harney...."Stand by for Neeeeeeeeeeews".

Richard indicates there's "LOT'S MORE" there !

Freyke, Congrats on the new 9S! I had a chance to tool around on my dealer's tody and let's just say I'm in love. Put a lot of SAFE miles on that new bike and make sure to tell us all how it holds up.

Team Elves...congrats on the 203!!!

And let's not forget Team Galbraith, well on their way to holding all more of the slowest records in the books with two more today!

Alright guys - Aaron's 2nd day report and a few pictures (including several of the bike) is up on the Team Elves site. I've put up some more pictures from the Colorado event also (is anyone else having trouble with the scrolling of the left frame in the picture galleries?).

Keep your ears peeled for an interview with Richard. I'll get it on the front page of the site no later than tomorrow morning.

CONGRATS TO TEAM ELVES!!!!
I was able to crash the party at the Elves Ranch last month. Aaron could not wait to have me listen to his M2 and then the 100" motor. Both those motors sound AWESOME, but the 100" motor is just plain WICKED & MEAN!! Aaron was almost giddy when he was showing off the harware, oh that might have been from inhaleing too much of that race gas, it's REAL wicked.
Anyway best of luck on this mornings run!

Thanks everyone -I'm going to check this out, including trying my other battery, checking connections, then the regulator. Let's hope it's not hte stator - had that once with my '82 Suzuki GS650 (typical malady), and I though these were a little more reliable nowadays. ;-0

But I guess I'm ready for anything, knowing it's a Buell and having read this board, eh? ;-)

It definitely barely moves the VOM reading when I start/rev it.

I have not upgraded the exhaust mount, so that should not be it. But - I HAVE noticed a pretty sizeable exhaust leak at the joint from the header collector to the White Bros E-series pipe the PO put on this thing. Any trick to sealing that?

Ray, look for an e-mail directly from me. ;-)

Thanks
Oliver

203mph. That's very cool. I guess Richard will get a 200mph hat now? Or does he have to hold a record to get it?
Well done to the three main men. Wes, Aaron and Richard.
Fingers are crossed for the backup run.

I simply can not get over what Aaron, Wes and Richard have done. Few folks, myself included, I think fully grasp the magnitude and complexity of what they appear poised to accomplish.

This is not like knocking off dormant records from 19 years ago or odd classes that no one has ever logged a record in. This is a HOT class. In fact, there is another well funded, well known CA dealer there dying to get at this record and coming up light years short of a Colorado Rancher, Cajun Reprebate and a fellow who answers "yes, dear" to Pammy.

Those of you with old fashion slide rules commence a little Jethro Bodine style "ciphering" and you'll find that X + Y NEVER gets to Z, it's nearly impossible. See if you can figure out the amount of horsepowers (the REAL ones, not what Aaron tells you) it takes to push that Buell to 203MPH on SALT. This is the mechanical equivalent of lining up all the planets in the solar system simultaneously.

On the other hand. I am recovering from some of the comments about Buell, Buells and Buell Dealers. There was a great deal of "actionable" information and, unfortunatley, some downright foolish kid chatter.

For those who simply don't understand, may I suggest a leisurely hour in the photos of the event at the Wilson Ranch. Like the elusive secret passageway in a mystery.....soon you find that the only way to understand what is special about Buell Motorcycles has little to do with speed or motorcycles. Just as the Grinch, by removing the gifts, was unable to keep Christmas from coming, a few bad dealers and some missteps, by what is arguably the most technically cutting edge company to ever put 2 wheels on metal and SELL it, I can learn to deal with.

Godspeed to Aaron, Richard and The Elves at Bonneville for a safe and succesful day. The heats of your friends, in many countries, are with you.

Actually, Rocket's sat in front of a monitor several thousand miles away making silly motorbike noises , wishing he could have been there. Ah but I never doubted for a moment that Salt Racer wouldn't break 2 Ton, I thought it would've been the weather that stopped us. What concerns me is, what the freak are we gonna do next year ????

Court to Richard.... You remember Court's rules. Plenty of sleep and plenty of rest So that's his bloody secret ! That solves the mystery of the early to bed , early to rise Americans :) :)

200 MPH BUELL, NOT BAD FOR AN OLD TRACTOR MOTOR

And what about FMJ. That's fabulous Jim, nothing short (except a little few miles an hour) of what you deserve. Go get it mate.

Court speaks: ****Godspeed to Aaron, Richard and The Elves at Bonneville for a safe and successful day. The hearts of your friends, in many countries, are with you. ****

Yahooooooooo!!! WOW....when Aaron mentioned way back when what Team Elves was going to attempt this year...I pretty much thought..it's in the bag with Aaron heading the project. Many Congrats to Aaron, Richard, & Wes @ Cycle Rama & the whole Team Elves contingent from Those "Sportster Guys" for what they are accomplishing.....hope the back up is even better. You guys run an awesome Team & program here off of the BadWeb...makes me want to get a Buell!!!...nevermind all the recent postings.

Here's to FMJ also having great runs...a very beautiful race Bike that man has!

Me thinks Wes is gonna get swamped with work this winter....the great trade off in a Sponsorship arrangement.

Now, if the steak house was just open still where they could celebrate...I'm sure that won't matter though!

Sitting at home, instead of being at the salt where I'd rather be, it's been great fun seeing & hearing the reports coming out of the Team Elves camp..it's the next best thing to being their! I only wish a Firebolt was running at this event...what's up with that?

Fireman Jim also had a good day, running 164.5 and then 165.6 against a 167 record. He’s damn close to bagging himself a record. He’s tuning the bike and I think he’s got a good chance. --Aaron

Some companies don't think that sound cards are a good thing at work. They just don't understand how important it is to listen to a super fast Cajun like Richard Nallin to some folks.

So maybe one of you lucky sound carded Elves with
typing skills can give the audibley(sp?) impaired the highlights of Richard's interview. Thanks in advance.

Phillyblast, I'm back and will try to put your new carb in the mail today.

Hootowl, ditto, except for the carb. I have your X1 bars at work.

Elves, truly awesome. Somehow I feel there is more to be squeezed out, but I know by doing so you wouldn't accumulate as many points the next time you break it.

FMJ, hope you find those 2-3 elusive mph.

Sportster dudes, haven't heard about you lately but wish you the best too.

Roc, oh wait, you're not there. You're getting married, if I heard correctly. Good luck and the bride will have to SETTLE for a virtual kiss from me. BTW, it's mandatory to post pictures of the bride in the honeymoon suite. It's in the BWB by-laws.

Here's something interesting. A guy in San Diego - the former owner of Eagle 1 automotive products - has bought all of the rights to the Vincent motorcycle, has a number of prototypes, has an agreement with Honda to build the engines, and is evidently going into production with modern/updated Vincents. The cover story of the December Cycle World will tell the tale. Go to www.vincentmotors.com.
