Here's what's been going on: the bike won't hit more than 86-88, and at 60 in 5th it sounds like it's lugging. I have after market exhaust and I upped the needle higher needle to the next step up, other than that it's stock. It also has backfired on me 3 or 4 times in the past 500 miles. Any ideas? |

What's the jetting? If its backfiring, it sounds as if its too lean (especially if you still have stock jetting). How's the boot? How tight is the primary chain? |

A 6 oz shot of Marvell's Mystery Oil cleared things up noticeably, it no longer lugs at 60. EZ has let me know my chain is too tight, and I'm about to work on that now. I have standard intake system and I've just changed the boot, new plug, new air filter (well 1,000 miles now). |

If the jetting is still stock and everything checks out okay, you're still probably too lean. Stock needles don't have a notch-what are you using? I understand for mpg purposes you may want to leave the jetting stock. But if you're experiencing running problems you run the risk of severe damage by running that way. Not every Blast is going to top out easily at 96mph. Other factors such as altitude, weight, terrain, fuel, weather, etc. can greatly hinder speeds in the 90+ range, fwiw. |

ah on me, I had the bike stand in a rut, so the bike was far from level. I bought a very small funnel at the dollar store and topped it off through the hose, after that I'm not taking that peg off again ! the oil drained down there fast enough |
