Thanks guys, my tank you could say was a bit tight. I had to pry with a rip-hammer on the post against the tank to get it past the tight spot. Now I'm looking forward to working on more straight forward things like the jets on the carb. More questions later, as I get deeper in this. And of course thanks so much for all the help. I will pay it forward by continuing to answer questions on other message boards that I actually know something. -edward |

My 2000 road king is still on it's original battery, and my 2000 blast is too, amazingly it has been about as mistreated as a battery can be. six years as a training bike, start stop, dozens of times a weekend, no storage charging. I think these new dry cell batteries are the ticket! |

Is the stock battery on my 2002 Blast different than other batteries on other bikes I have owned? It has only failed me once, my fault, I left it in the bike over one winter. I usually take it out of the bike and bring it indoors for the winter. I had a battery tender destroy an expensive marine battery and my son's motorcycle battery (yuasa?) Otherwise I am thrilled with this battery! |

Here is a clarification question about Exhaust upgrades and carb jetting. I have on order a V&H S22-R, found a great deal on one new $175 with free ship. Going to put it on when I get it, but since I am cleaning out the jets to work on this problem of bogging at any RPM above idle, I thought I could change over the jets now before the exhaust comes. First part: Is this jetting OK for the V&H? pilot #45 Main # 175 Second part: Is it OK to run these jets while still using the stock exhaust? Thanks guys! |

Jetting okay with the V & H (see exhaust section) and maybe okay with the stock exhaust, but it will probably be too rich. Your exhaust should be on shortly and, even though too rich, the jetting may solve your running problem. I should caution (as I tend to do)against making too many changes at once or using non stock items to solve a problem. Sometimes the problem will be made worse or now you've added more problems. If the new jets dont solve your problem, stop before you compound it. Find the root of the problem before continuing. |

If they made a single in the body style of the Adventure, I might get really excited. I'm not, unfortunately, inclined to do my own work (my Blast is stock and has needed no repair) so I don't think a KTM is for me. |

I'm looking to buy my first motorcycle this spring and I'm pretty set on the blast. The major concern that I'm having is the tire selection for the bike. I may be reading the FAQ section wrong, but it sounds like you can't just use any 120/80-16 rear tire? I've done some searching and found that these aren't the only tires of that size. Just wanting to make sure because the tire wear seems quick on all of the tires listed. |

Hey, that KTM looks pretty good. Wonder why they put the can under the bike. I've seen that idea before... |

Welcome IlBlaster! Any 120/80-16 should fit and there arent many to choose from. Your swingarm can be modded to fit a lightly bigger (taller) tire. Rear tire wear is 'quick' on all of them. Since quality Blast tires can be had cheaply, I'd prefer performance rather than a rock hard mileage tire. It also makes for a much more enjoyable ride. |

Hi, I recently joined this group because I need mounting instructions for the Buell Blast Metro Tank Bag. Last month I sold my old one on eBay because I traded my Blast in for a Sportster. The individual who won the bid has trouble figuring out how to mount the bag despite my instructions. Can anyone make it really simple or supply a .pdf of the original instructions that came with the bag? Thanks! |

Yes, I can. Faxing would be easier though, pdf would be much later tonight. Let me know if fax is possible by private message (w/phone #). I didnt think the Metro bag was that tough to mount, the rear bags, maybe... |

Erik - could you send me a copy of the pdf file - I'll post it in our other useful files group and see if I can't fit it here with a bit of editing. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Hi all, I'm new here...could use a little help. I just bought a 2000 blast and at mid to high RPM's (35 or so in 2nd, 45-50ish in 3rd) it sounds like someone dropped a marble in the motor somewhere. It sounds like it's in the cylinder. I had a car that sounded a bit like this right before it threw a rod out the block. Here's a little more background: It has 20K miles on it and a V&H exhaust. It sat for a solid year before I bought it. Other than that I am not sure of any mods. I adjusted the primary per some of the advice on this board. I also put a bit of alcohol in the gas to get it through emissions, but I'm pretty sure I heard it before that. What's the likely culprit? Lifters? timing? worse? Thanks for any help, this looks like a pretty cool community. (Message edited by johnnyvii on October 14, 2007) |

actually I would think about a lean condition causing detonation. rejet to 45/175 and check your timing. if the problem persists, dig deeper. |

If it sounds like marbles or loose bolts rattling - primary - if it sounds like periodic valve clatter then detonation - krid is right though - if you've already adjusted the primary - then it sounds like your too lean - check for proper jetting and das boot. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Vortec57, you'll miss the superior lighting of the Blast. The XB9R doesn't do it unless you get those fancy high tech systems with ballast. You might miss the more primal tone of the Blast as well. But you'll certainly like the acceleration of the XB. And superior handling, without scraping the pegs! |
