Carlost - I got several links to CV40 voodoo in the carb section - the badweb one explores some really unique stuff not found on the nightrider site - visa versa, plus our own observations unique to the Thumper and the CV40. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Yeah...I can't wait. I'm very familiar with the Nightrider stuff...good writeup. I learned a lot about CV40 voodoo but for the tubers. I need to learn more about this strange cousin with the TPS in the Blast. I like CVs a lot. |

hi all: last week i bought i 2004 blast with 9k miles for my 16 year old son (i ride triumph). it is his first bike and chance for us to something together. i paid $2500 and the tires needed replacing. it is stock and seems to run well. I seem to see lots of 2002-2003 models with many fewer miles for around the same price i paid. Question #1 is: did i pay too much for 2004 with 9,000 miles? Question #2 is: the bike seems to require more than beginner skill level taking off from a stop - is that normal? thanks |

Thanks you guys, this has been a three year work of love. I had to disassemble the top end for the record measurement and with the salt blowing, it will now come all the way down. So if it's allowed I will start a thread on how it was all done and will I will take some photos along with text. I think it can do $1.50 as it was way short of the rev-limit in 5th. so give me a week or two to catch up with the "Direct Link" MAPs I owe Al and Kevin. ... Will post here as soon as I can. ... Welcome Scott! You paid a fair price for the Blast. The older they get the cheaper they are. The clutch is a little grabby on the start, but he'll get used to it. Like riding an old 2 stroke street bike but without the wheelie capability.(it can pull the front wheel but it'll take some serious effort or serious screwing up). Get some Avon or Pirelli tires. Pirellis are the stickiest (if my son, thats what I'd get) but wear out faster. The Avons get better mileage and are still good tires. The Dunlops just plain suck on a Blast (my opinion but you'll find few arguments against it). |

I'm going to be gone for 3 weeks, driving to RI. If I dont answer posts, thats why. So if any of you Blasterds are out there on the road and a guy in a white Expedition gives you the thumbs up or chases you down (to talk to you), that'll be me! And sadly there wont be enough time to go riding to warrant me dragging the Blast all that way. Dont forget Buellton, Oct 14! |

Crown Plaza Hotel in Warwick for a Dog show (Basenji National Specialty). I couldnt see dragging the bike all that way for the very little riding time I might get. James just left here with my MotoTote anyway, so I've got no way to haul it now. |

Srad that was an OK price. I've been tracking these Blasts on Ebay for the past two weeks and it seems that regardless of vintage or mods, they all go for around $2Gs give or take $200-$300. Thanks, Erik Buell for taking a page from the BMW Book On How To Market Bikes and leaving the Blast unchanged for 7 years |

Carlost, well almost completely unchanged, there is that gasket they improved in 2003. But you are right for the most part. |

Had an intersting and uneventfull weekend. BUT maybe I came up with something good. I hauled the bike home so I could go on a ride with a few friends, rained all weekend, we did a whole 10 miles. Sunday I tried to fire the bike up to load it and head home, no avail carb boot was totally torn in two. Having to get it running somehow just to get to my loading dock we did some brainstorming. The answer came in the form of fuel filler neck hose. This automotive hose fits perfectly, is CHEAP and available in whatever length you want. I got a foot and made a few spares. Another bonus of it so far is that it's got a metal wire wound throughout as reinforcement. Now for a question. I have REALLY notchy shifting into first gear, sometimes its like butter, others it takes some grinding and stomping. Is this a primary or clutch adjustment or something I should just get used to. Also, on occasions I can smell something that's kind of like brakes or clutch burn smell. Could my primary/clutch be dry? If so how can I check this to find out. |

Change to a synth - Mobil is optimum, but the specialty Motorcycle synths are considered very good as well - American Sport Bike sells them - adjust your primary - see our methods in the TKV with alternate notes and methods. Also adjust your shifter for propper travel for your foot. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Adjust that primary on the loose side, made all the difference in the world. Hi you all! Just got back from Ozark, Alabama! Got to shake the Base Commanders hand at Fort Rucker. Now that I am home and the Big Kid and The Little Kid survived Mommy Dearest and I being gone for almost a week, I have some tires to change, I will post pictures tonight if I am not too tired. Welcome to the board Sradcliffe1 ! |

OK, here are pictures of the Avon AM52 mounted of the Big Kids bike(showing a little cord, the Avon Vyper Stryke 140/70/16 and the Avon Vyper Stryke in 110/70/16 for the front. The tires look almost square when unmounted. The front was a little tight going on and both seems to seat on the bead almost by hand. I took the Little Kids Blast out with the Vyper Strykes on both the front and back and it handles very different, almost like a rolling pin changing direction, it took more effort to turn, but not like it wasn't going to turn, it just seemed to straighten up more after putting steering input into the bars. It was raining tonight so I didn't do any tight corners at speed, maybe tomorrow night.

Yeah - it rolls over a bit easier, yet seems more planted in the curve itself - I like it - its a new tire though so don't be killing yourself on it - lol - I'm sure you know what your doing - still be carefull - it took a bit to get most of the release agent off - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

"The tires look almost square when unmounted." Yeah, I'm thinking the mounted tire looks pretty square. |
