Normal. Seat holds it down (you should notice a mark on the battery from the seat).

Hmm, I kinda figured that must be it. I've seen the scuffs on the seat and battery. Just doesn't seem to be too firm. Something like a small bungee will help. I've had bad joo joo with loose batteries!

Im about to go insane! I got the battery charged, it still won't start. I pulled the plug, it was a little wet but not bad. rolled it over a couple of times to get anything out, dried off the plug and put it back in. checked the coil, i'm getting spark. STILL wont start. It cranks pretty good, but doesn't want to fire over. I looked at my carb boot, looked good, but I wrapped it in duct tape anyways and still nothing. Dealership doesn't have one in stock, any reccomendations where to order from? (dealer wants 9 bucks!) Anything else I should be looking out for? What am i forgetting?

Make sure battery connections are tight - esp. ground, and apply new boot. Duck tape just won't fix some things - lol - Chicago HD or Davies in Waterloo Iowa - a sponser - he'll get it to you ASAP. Check your battery - if there is a serious drop upon key turn its no good. Shouldn't go below 12.

I tried the same thing (the duct tape fix) when my boot crapped out and had the same thing happen...NOTHING. As soon as I installed the new boot she fired right up.

Another posting on this intake boot issue! I have a relative that teaches a riding class in Arizona. They use the Blast in their classes. He sad with the long idles and the Arizona heat they go through boots QUICKLY. His solution: instead of buying new boots, he bought radiator hose the same diameter, cut it to length and began using that as a replacement on their bikes. Now, I haven't tried this personally, but it might get a person by until parts arrive.

I went to visit my good buddies at the ATV store and guess what, they had the boot! So tomorrow I'm either going to have a running Blast or a fire out in my parking lot. Kind of amazing how this podunk looking shop has had everything i've needed and the big fancy dealer and the other bigger ATV store dont have anything.

Along the lines of the boot. I was thinking of radiator hose, and almost went to the hardware store to see if I could find a rubber coupling used in plumbing that would fit.

Vortec57,
Did you have the slide out?
If youi have the boot pinched it will cause the engine to run like the John Deere....but it still would start.

Nope, I never touched the slide. I thought of it but Couldnt get the screws out of the top (actually broke a screwdriver trying) I've got a few things to try tomorrow, along with the new boot.

I've been on a ride with the Little Kid,(Two Dogs) and the Big Kid for the last three days. Trip of the Mitt. Day two...Half way through the Scenic Route M119 the Tunnel of Trees, and the Little Kid pulls over infront of some bazzilion dollar home and starts yelling about how he is being mistreated and wants to go home and how the Big Kid told him to say out of the center.....Blah, Blah, Blah,...When things get calmed down and we all get back on the road again, I realize what the problem was......

The Little Kid has been away from Play Station for over 24 hours!

I'm still smiling.....

First things first,
1) Do you have spark? (Be careful of sparkplugs, I have seen times where they spark in atmosphere but not in compression.)
2)You think you have fuel, check that you have some to the carb, or squirt a little directly into the carb.
3)Do you have compression?

Buellistic, For some reason my blast refuses to even turn over if the Ign. switch is off. Don't know if this is norm but I like it.

Was told by a by friend that has a BLAST
that if you turn off your BLAST with the IGN. off SW. on the right handle bar then off then the ignition(key) switch ... Now when you go to start it up again the IGN. off SW. on the right handle will be off you then turn on the ignition (key) switch on letting the electronics in the speedometer Q-UP then the ignition switch that the SENSOR,speed(for speedometer) will not go bad prematurely ... Has anybody else heard this ???

Spark- Fresh plug, checked, sparked.
Fuel- rubber boot was wet, float bowl full. Sprayed starting fluid, didnt do anything
Compression- rolled engine over without plug in it and felt it pushing out.

What I dont get is it ran when I took it apart, didnt even really do anything and it wont run now. Guess I'll tell ya what they find out Tuesday night. I hate taking it to the dealer but I've wrecked my brain over this thing.

I'm rather mechanical, grew up around cars and have motocross raced the past 5 years. This one is beyond what I can figure out at the moment, and due to apartment living I don't have all the tools I wish I had.

I don't know about saving the speedo sensor, but if you don't let your speedo finish its little self-check prior to hiting the starter, it will read about 1/2 of your actual speed.

Hypothetically, say someone forgot to check the oil on a long trip and the oil light failed to come on when the engine oil ran low and eventually out and the engine subsequently seized. What would you want to check during the rebuild?

I'm looking at a new piston, rings, wrist pin, bore/replace cylinder, con rod bearings, crank bearings... Maybe just waiting for an engine to come up on fleabay. Or part the little blastard out.

Hypothetically,
I'd say bummer....
Oil pump, and updated drive gear, cams(Hi Performance of course) cam followers, cam bushings if they were bad.

The little blastard will take ALOT of abuse, ask me how I know, you may not be all that bad off.

Just check it out, it's doesn't have to do brain surgery, just run.

Let us know what you find.

Good Luck, I'll be dancing around the oak tree naked....

Well, I'm still in denial, the first stage of grieving. I've looked through the packages from RPM for upgrades. Unfortunately, I'm a little tight on cash. So it's going to sit a while. I could always use a good winter project.

I appreciate the ritual dancing although nudity is not required. I'm going to buy a few lottery tickets and we'll see what happens.
