Welcome BldgaBuellsleeper! Ride the bike awhile and figure what you want out of it. Do the cheapo handlebars without question! Really changes the feel of the bike. Check out the pictures here too. We here have already tried out a lot of different things here (but not everything!)and can help point you in the right direction. |

The Blastardation of my Blast started today. Ordered up some new turn signals, one was broken and starting to look pretty pathetic as it drooped. Bars and mirrors come next, still looking for an exhaust if anyone has any suggestions for a cheap one (I've thought of adapting an ATV silencer, or maybe an automotive glasspack) Also want to do something with the intake, maybe ditch the box and create some sort of intake like a sidewinder. Suggestions??? |

Who is the Yoda around here about converting the Blast to Chain drive? I see over on the quick board a Firebolt that was converted...I want that also so I can walk into the Yakazooki shop and buy a chain when it breaks. |

Chain drive conversion thread did you check? Okay, well we used to have a chain drive conversion thread, but I cant find it so we'll start one! There's lots of ways to get it done, just depends on what you want and are willing to modify. (Message edited by gearheaderiko on July 28, 2006) |

Its in the racing section. My intake setup consists of a Torque stack from American Sport Bike and a stack filter from Outerwears (see profile for stock #)and a 3 1/2" band clamp and a ziplock over all this when parked for any length of time. I hate to sound like the FNG, but I guess that's who I am. I checked www.outerwearsracing.com but was unable to come up with it, and the part number in your profile came up as unknown. Any chance you could plug a link to it in somewhere?? On another note, just switched to reserve for the second time on my bike, first tank I made it to about 170 miles, this time just under 120, is that average? Seems a little low to me. I'm sure it will all change when I do some tweaking, but trying to set a baseline. Thanks for putting up with me! |

I usually hit reserve at around 120-130 and usually pour 1.7-1.8 gal in at that time...sounds about normal to me. BTW I have never tested my gastank capacity. |

pt. # 135-B - call them - that is the part # on the package - yes its not on their website, however, they will recognize it in a phone call - if they have changed the part number again - let me know - its for a 3 1/2" stack - your choice of colors - lol - gas mialage varies with with what you are doing on spirited weeks in city it could be as low as 80 mi. before hitting reserve - especially if you know some of the back roads. OK, thanks EZ, I'll have to give them a call, any idea on the price of it? and does it come with the cage? The mileage thing makes me feel better too, I kinda have a "heavy foot" half of my trip to work is highway, and the rest is a kind of windy strip of residential street that's not very traveled (oops) p.s. am I right on the velocity stack? |

Buy 3 3/4" hose clamp, That stack you linked to with carb gasket and that filter cloth - work together to become my intake - switching red to it soon! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

10-1267-01 or 135-B $5.95 each and when you mention it to the lady at Outerwears she'll know exactly what it is (the web site is not so good). # 10-2120-01 or 115-15T fits a little better (more of it slides over the stack like 1 1/2", the 135-B just goes on about 1/2") but will cost twice as much, $12. Shipping is pricey (to me) at $6. Wait may be about 2 weeks. You can get it in a variety of different colours at no additional charge! PS James quickly wore his knee through the Outerwears pre filter, so your results may vary due to your riding position. Thanks to EZ for the original info on Outerwears! Reserve is at 100 miles and I dont chance it above that (hitting reserve through a turn can lead to bad consequences)! |

Does the sprocket cover have to be run? I put a new pulley on the Big Kids Blast and left the sprocket cover off, the belt is trying to run off the pulley to the right side. |

My guess is yes. I think there needs to be at least one guide on each pulley, 1 left, 1 right. Some Blasts seems to rub the guard, others dont. But I would really like to know if it can be run without. I'd jack up the wheel and run it in gear first before hitting the street. |

Good technique has you hugging with your thighs and thowing the inside knee way out and other knee is straight, feet forward on the balls, weighting pegs accordingly. What trouble? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

The trouble would be concentrating on keeping that one flap of folded leather of off the aircleaner. Its not about technique, its mostly about which part of the track is causing the wear. Is it the cornering, braking or tucking in at WOT on the straights. We dont really know which part of the track is causing the position that causes the wear and its not really that important of an issue. I just wanted 'readers' to know that contact with the Outerwear may happen in such a way as to cause a hole depending on your height and riding position! |

Spent the weekend at the track. I've been thinking about modding the blast for track days, but I'm still not sure it'll work. The body positioning is too different. I did see a couple of Buells. Two of them the older style tube frame V-twins and a Firebolt. Here are some pictures of me on my FZR400.

Thats a Euro bike - grey marketed in for track duty - smart! I Read they where a world of fun and upgradable to 500cc for 500cc competition. I hear the suspension potential is top notch as well - nice form - what track? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

If you add rearsets and bars, the riding position is almost whatever you want it to be, really! I used the think about getting a Tuber Buell for the track, single or twin engined, until I saw what happens if a crank fails and takes out the crankcase. That underslung engine mounted shock is now a pole for vaulting you off the track! The same reason they put driveshaft hoops on drag cars. I dont know if thats a rarity or common for the engine to break at the shock mount, but it wasnt pretty. |

I've been keeping an eye out for some rearsets. I can't afford a new set right now. I am going to try a different set of bars. The stock bars are an odd bend. The Blast is such a comfortable fun, economical commuter that I don't want to mess with it too much. It would be a "blast" to pass a someone through the corners on the thumper Buell. It'd be a tough thing to pull off though. There was an SV650 there with a familiar looking fly screen. I guess the SV guys sometimes upgrade to buell parts. |

I guess the SV guys sometimes upgrade to Buell Blast parts. Now thats something you dont hear often! MMelvis adapted the stock y-frame for rearsets (up & back a little). We have diagrams/plans for rearsets at this site. The biggest expense is the shifter. Usually running about $100 whichever style you choose.Some aluminum plate, jigsaw and drill is all the tools you need. Of course, like everything else, its real easy after the first time you do it. |
