I filled my truck up and it cost me $75. So everyday is ride to work day for me. I got 70 mpg on my last tank. EZ, ride it like you hate it. Wear that whole tire in. |

See that viper head on the tread near the edge - my goal is to rub it out in the corners;0) - first test though is this weekend - am already only an inch away from the edge with break in wear so far- the snake heads days are numbered! I will say they launch well - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Yeah, I'm like cobalt, its 65-70 bucks to fill the truck up, and to work and home round trip is about 15 miles. Everyday is ride to work day for me now, I figure I save about 3 bucks a day on the Blast. Maybe I'll be able to afford some cool mods on it if it doesn't snow this winter! |

yes well I drive a diesel when the weather gets to bad but I prefer $6 to $50 So EZ your swingarm is unmodded right? And the rear fits OK even when warm? I'm gonna need new tires soon |

I almost put the blast down today. On my way to the bank I lost the front end on an exit ramp. I came into the corner fast tossed it over and opened the throttle. Not particularly different from what I normally do. Next thing I know the front end is sliding like it's on ice. No warning. A quick counter steer and a stab with my right foot made everything ok. Although, I may have pulled something in my hip. I thought for sure I was going down. No more coffee for me, target heart rate achieved. |

Yikes! The first day I had my bike (first day I ever had any bike) I was riding through an intersection and there was a car inching out from the stop sign. I was afraid they didn't see me and grabbed a handful of brake, locked up the front and shrieked it pretty good. It started to slide out from under me, but I let go in time and was able to keep it upright. I glared at the car and the guy's eye's were huge. I don't know if he saw me the whole time, or just when the tire started squealing and realized he almost killed me. That's the only time I've ever felt like I was going to go down. Other than the time that I actually did go down. Which thankfully was more of a low speed tip-over than a crash... Hope your hip heals up... nick |

wet afternoon in the Northeast...I've been putting off buying the Pants to match my Joe Rocket Balistic 5.0 jacket for 2 years, no more. Today between rain showers from the approaching tropical storm (I don't know the name) I ran out to my local Kawasaki dealer and picked up a brandy new pair of Balistic 5.0 pants...very nice. They will also support my late season riding. Now I just need a set of boots that aren't combat boots |

I have the dunlop 330's. I like them because they kind of look like dirt track tires and I've never had a problem before. They've always handled pretty well. With the poor mileage I may be switching over to the new Avons. Not sure if the road was greasy or if I came in too fast, too much gas, too quick a transition or some combination thereof... I've never lost traction before, not for lack of trying. I've worn the pegs down into the metal and grooved the outside of my boot from cornering. |

Well, I've seen Dunflops ridden pretty hard and its possible there was gravel, oil or maybe you just unloaded the front end too quickly. I'm thinking riding that way you should move up to the Pirelli's, certainly at least the Avons. At some point riding that hard you'll need to give up wear mileage for traction. With as many bikes that you've got I'm sure the hip injury isnt the first time and you'll probably get it again...we all do! PS Glad you're okay and hope the hip thing is just a muscle and a little chiropractic adjustment. |

hey everyone. im new to badweather and was actually turned onto this page by my mechanic. im desperately looking to up my 04 blast. looking for both engine/handling performance and asthetic appeal. definately want to get rid of the handlebars (not too crazy about the mini ape hangers, new wheels, and possibly a different style fairing kit. ive been looking for this stuff all over the place. the only stuff ive found seems to be jack-legged stuff on ebay. no one seems to cater to blasts. any suggestions on who to turn to? also, anything i can do at home (ie tuning) to pep it up a little. thanks! |

Check out crossroads performance, they have some cool stuff. Also, the Knowledge Vault archives are a good place to read up. There are kits out there for increased displacement, and you can go the hi-comp route too. As far as aesthetics - anything goes. Search the big motorcycle retailers for universal stuff - bars, fairings, etc. and see what you can adapt. Just because there isn't much specifically made for the blast doesn't mean you can't adapt things to it... That's what everyone around here has done. Bars a good place to start. The universally accepted best bar for the blast is a $15 "superBike" bar. Dozens of websites sell it - its a generic cheapo bar - but it gets the job done just right. I have a more expensive adjustable bar I can give you a link to, it's about $130, but I have it adjusted just like the $15 bar anyway. LOL Welcome. Nick |

Upgrades...where to begin...well for starters Got Thump will give you an idea of what can be done to change the looks and fairings/lights available. Knowledge Vault has most of the Exhausts that are still sold as well what used to be available and can still occasionally be found and what can be fabricated if you have a bit of time. Bars...Superbike are the standard trade out, but most MX bars work too. Crossroad Performance plate bars and 37mm clipons are also options. Brakes...there are a couple of aftermarket brake pad options...I bought mine from American Sport Bike so when they carry I can say good things about...there are no (that I have found) options for aftermarket brake rotors, at least for the front, there may be something from another bike/brand that would work on the rear...now that you bring it up brake rotors from a number of other manufacturers (GSXR750's for the front and R1's for the rear) the are the same size though whether the bolt pattern is the same is a "hole" nuther issue...hummmm well there's an idea...no no I need a piston and a cam first |

Tire pressure info: Bought a used (2001) Blast this weekend, trying to get it in happier shape. It's running, but hasn't been lovingly cared for. Tires had 11 and 11.5 lbs of air in them, couldn't find inflation info on the bike so I've got them @ 33 now. What's recommended tire pressure on a Blast? |

28/32 for the stock Dunlops, I think... I run 34/39 in my Avons in an attempt to get better mileage though. |

Hi Guys, Haven't posted here in awhile. It's been a busy time looking for a new job, and dealing with Family issues. To top it off, I bought a new bike! My wife Karen and I decided that we needed a 2-up bike to spend more time together on and perhaps ride to Buell's 25th anniversary on. We ended up Buying a Ulysses. It is a great bike for 2-up riding and other than the 50 miles that I put on it getting it home from the dealership, the rest has been 2-up riding. The Blast will remain a stable mate to the Uly, and will continue to be my Solo machine. I will probably extensively modify it in the next year when it get's over 50,000 miles on it. I have aspirations to chop the rear supframe like the Crossroads Blast, put a 650 kit in it, and strip most of the plastic off it. We will see what time brings to the bike but for right now, it is still the little commuter bike that it has always been. Gotta go, enjoying a weeks vacation before starting the new job, and going for a ride with Karen. James |

on the subject of Brake Rotors I've been researching Braking Wave Rotors and there are a number of disks in their catalog that look to be compatable...Braking already makes wave rotors for other Buells and pads for our Blasts it is posible that among the 20-30 like sized rotors that something might work. more when they get back to me |

I capacity tested my gas tank today. I managed to fill it with 2.894 gallons after riding 201.9 miles. Mileage 70 mpg. Nearly half a mile was purely coasting and another half pushing. |

If I were you I'd try not to go over 200 miles on a tankful. I have 150 on this tankful, not on reserve yet. Reserve usually hits at 145 or so for me, getting roughly 64 mpg. |

Honestly, I forgot that I had switched to reserve last night on the way home. I ran out on my way into work this morning. Got a lot further than I thought I could.. Ran out just after the Ohio River bridge and coasted down the exit ramp. Really a pretty decent spot to run out. |
