So what are you running for oil breathers?I bought my X1 with this on it. the oil will drip out and get on my jeans, I like to think my bike is just marking it territory! I want something more effective with out major surgery on the bike.

Remove the hose from the air cleaner and run it to a catch can. Problem solved.

The breather setup for the forcewinder is dog shit. I just routed it to a hose going to the street right in front of the exhaust outlet. |

I did the xb rocker box top then routed to a vented pingel catch can like S1owner has. No oiling down the rear tire, no oil drips on the exhaust or your leg. |

Wasn't much back when I did it, but that was when you could still buy a new Buell at a dealership. search the knowledge vault for the parts needed and it will help with the breathing issues. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/174377.html?1120500593 |

Brand new XB top rocker boxes are listing on ebay right now @ $80/ pair, your choice black or silver. You need those, a pair of PVC valves, and then some bolts to plug the threaded holes in the head and maybe hold your aircleaner on. Looks like the breather valves are getting a bit harder to find on line. You need two of those, and the later grommets for same. Oh, and you should use new gaskets probably. Then, some hose, clamps, and a cool catch can with a means to attach it. I got one from some oval track go-kart racer supply shop because go kart guys are cheap...so their parts are too. |

Try this... https://www.efkarting.com/wms-catch-can-frame-moun t.html https://www.bmikarts.com/Aluminum-Oil-Catch-Can-Fr ame-Mount_p_4219.html I contacted the efkarting seller for additional info. The end clamps diameter seems to be just right for the tuber's frame. Each clamp have two allen bolts at the bottom. My order should be here Friday or next Monday. Hope it works. Roderick |

Wow, nice thanks for the info. I will most likely go catch can style MAYBE later do the up grade at bonus time. I don't like what is on the bike now (I bought it that way) you can't really tighten the pipes going into the head. Has anyone ever ran this off a sportster?

I would go with the second pic of just the two banjos. Run the hoses to a tie and into a catch can. That will get you the cleanest look as you get to choose the hose, color, and routing. Its also the mist cost affective. That last one is just going to blow the oil out the filter. |

I'll beat the drum again. The hoses need to run down hill from the breather holes in the heads or you risk the possibility of oil pooling up in the vent ports or the hoses. The aftermarket kits that have the front head vent going up and over the intake should not be used. |

I used the banjo style bolts like your second picture for a while. They were cheap, convenient, and looked decent enough. Just for reference, the stuck airbox had the breather hose from the rear cylinder running up and over the carb. I agree it's best to run them downhill if you can, but dont assume it wont work if you run it the other way. |

"I don't like what is on the bike now (I bought it that way) you can't really tighten the pipes going into the head" Yours appear to work like the oem fittings, you screw the fitting in, then tighten down the locknut and it tightens the bolt in place. |

I ended up using the supplied forcewinder breather setup, which looks very similar to yours, running directly to a catch can.

My new catch can showed yesterday and installed...
The clamps are slightly larger than the frame tube's OD, so I shimmed it with some spiral wrap. The location is a bit tough to install because of clearance between the can and the primary cover. With the spiral wrap shim and the clamps secured, I can still rotate the can. But after an hour on the freeway, nothing happened. Seems secured enough for now. Roderick |

well, even the XB conversion will need a catch can as well. you just lose the banjo fittings near the carb mount and don't have to sweat the direction of the breather hose nearly so much.. So, the "cute little package" will still have functionality after a XB rocker box conversion (that I also highly recommend |
