SPOILER ALERT And the winner - by a very slight margin...... the Ducati Due to a pulsing front rotor on the EBR, which EBR says is due to variations from their supplier which has been fixed and is being warrantied. Such a shame, if it had a properly functioning front brake, I think it would have won Incredible performance for a first year product to virtually tie the top dog right out of the gate. Some interesting variations between the two, GET THE MAGAZINE! (Message edited by sprintst on May 31, 2014) |

Good article, they did mention the EBR was better on the street. |

We made the COVER! WAY better on the street, they said the only bad thing about the RX was the clutch pull was too heavy. It was also mechanically noisier, no ABS, and fit & finish was a hair off. For a second there, I thought they were talking about my 1125....but despite those niggles, I think the only one they really cared about was the clutch, and that wasn't enough to offset the traditional Ducati torture rack riding position, credit card seat and "oven in a blast furnace" heat. It was only slower at the track by...15 thousandths, I think. Meaning a good rotor would have prolly put it over the top. That was the ringer's times- the author was actualy faster on the EBR. Once again, a crap rotor makes us look bad, but not by much, this time. Hopefully this is sorted out when they start doing the big superbike comparos! |

I felt pulsing early on but once the bikes brakes are bed in they actually feel pretty good. Trust me the Duc has nothing on the EBR on the street. As I have said it would take a pro truly benefit from the few 1199's advantages in HP and weight. |

Perhaps he meant "we" as in the larger Buell and EBR community. You know, the ones that would visit a "Buell Enthusiasts Site". That's a "we", and "we" made the cover, seems reasonable to me. |

So the Duc turned a 0.15 faster best lap. The Duc had a speed shifter and the EBR had a defective front brake rotor. I'll bet with a proper front rotor alone the EBR will be faster, and it sounds like Cycle World will change it and find out. |

"we" (lol) were slower in the 1/4 mile, 0-100, tied on 60 to 80, lower top speed, lower hp, higher torque, long braking distance (again, bad rotor and margin of error comes into play) A great showing for EBR right out of the gate also, 20 lbs heavier Did they get the fork spec right?? Shows 50mm for the Duc, and only 43mm fork on the EBR |

"Perhaps he meant "we" as in the larger Buell and EBR community. You know, the ones that would visit a "Buell Enthusiasts Site"." Exactly what I meant. Just like "We" looked bad due to the front brake, fuelling etc at the 1125's pre production press intro, "We're" not doing well in WSBK, and "WE" looked good when everybody liked the Ullyses, and when the RS did very well in the 2012 Superbike challenge. The "Royal We". Cut me some slack, Fanboys are people too! |

I'm perfectly fine with the "we", since we Buell owners have a desire for a healthy EBR, imo |

Yeah I noticed that immediately too Court. My next door neighbor just got a Yamaha R1 (2001?). He revs the crap out of that thing. Maybe because he rides without a license and an unregistered bike. 19 years old. No gear. Just a young squid. Nice enough kid. I hope he will survive the summer. |

At least they know how to rev a big bore Vtiwn. I watched a guy at one of the demo days repeatedly choke and kill the motor trying to "blip" the throttle in perfect squiddly form. I have come to really love how deliberately everything has to be done and the predictability of how it all happens on the RX. It's way easier to ride hard than the Panigale, and exponentially better ride on the street. |

Boy is that a pretty curve for the EBR! More power almost everywhere. And to think the bike can get almost 50 MPG. |

That ducs top end can't be any better than the EBR - really with only a 5 hp difference - lol - get real. Looks - like a clear win for EBR to me. EZ |

They didn't, but the EBR specs do. I'm sure it gets lousy mileage when ridden hard, but for those of us looking forward to the AX, big power when you want it, and big economy when you don't, is pretty cool. I'm a Saab guy and it's the same thing... high boost turbo and big HP when I want it, and 33 mpg highway when I don't. |

I was getting 39.4 miles a gallon at 90mph sustained for quite a while. I've gotten tanks of just cruising in the city at around 41-42 mpgs. Lifetime average over 2800 miles is 34.4 and keeps going up actually. I've not babied her either. |

I'm only getting mid 30's on my 1125R, so 50 would be insanely good |

The fuel mileage is speed dependent. At 70 mph, the instant display shows 40-42 mpg. At 65, it's 47-49 mpg and at 60, I consistently see 50+ mpg. That said, do you realize how HARD it is to ride a bike like this that slow? Unless I have a Leo right behind me or ahead of me, it's almost impossible. It feels like the engine just needs to stretch out a little bit more, it seems to "like" 75 mph or more when in 6th gear. If I'm stuck at 60 mph or even slower, I find myself dropping 2 gears typically just to make the motor happy and smooth. What's weird about it is, at 50 mph in 4th gear, I see 55+ mpg. |

That's great Noone, thats about what I get normally on my Uly. (Unless I am chasing those NC boys through the mountains and using NC gas, at which point, for reasons I can't entirely explain, I suddenly get 50+ mpg...) |

That said, do you realize how HARD it is to ride a bike like this that slow? I concur. I just put my 1125 back together and have been riding to work the last couple days. 35 miles of interstate, each way... my first motorcycle was a Blast... I have to admit, I loved that thing (at the time). I don't remember the exact MPG, but i want to say it was around 70. |

Yuppers - stock Blasts pulled in 70mpg - unless you got heavy handed - that could take you down to 60 - lol - now modified - that's a whole different world. EZ |

"It feels like the engine just needs to stretch out a little bit more, it seems to "like" 75 mph or more when in 6th gear. If I'm stuck at 60 mph or even slower, I find myself dropping 2 gears typically just to make the motor happy and smooth." I felt the same way on my Ducati 907IE. My understanding was that there was a German spec for max HP output at speed. 100kph? So I always felt like it wanted to do 80 or better in 6th gear. Correspondingly it felt a little weak at the lower end, like my 750 Paso had more. So when I had to choose between them I kept the 750. I wish I had tried a smaller countershaft sprocket. One other bit about the 907 was the ride height. It felt tall and that I sat up high like my S3T. The 750 felt lower more like I was sitting in the bike. Makes for a more confidant ride, IMHO. |

@D_Adams- Yeah, I just picked up a Ully XT, and it's SO MUCH EASIER to live with commuting. The 1125 makes me want to kill myself below 70mph now. It's like keeping a racehorse in a cage. |
