Anybody have an idea for a catch can for the breather tube to mount under the seat? |

How about one of those flask-shaped bottles, they come in stainless, and also the white plastic. The plastic bottle I use is smaller than some pill bottles I've seen. Doesn't take much capacity, if you have a way to check it easily. Mine is fairly well hidden under the seat fairing. (Message edited by jayvee on March 23, 2012) |

Always thought a CATCH CONTAINER had to be lower than BREATHER OUTLET ??? |

Probably the 'Catch' part of the Catch-container should be lower than the entrance to the Catch-Container. But the position of the container relative to the breather bolts (lower/higher/even/doesn't matter) has been discussed at length, with all configurations working for somebody. Evidently the container placement question isn't a "has to be" kind of answer, as much as a "works for me" kind of deal. I like the creativity exhibited in some of these setups, especially the low-cost, or very personal, ones, such as the chewing tobacco tin, etc. An opportunity to display a brand loyalty for example... |

Josh- I used a plastic bottle, with a flip-out drain, mounted upside down. That way, I could easily drain the fluid build up. I don't have a photo, but I'll try and get one of the bottle I used. There are a lot of nice, stainless and aluminum catch cans on the market, but they are pricey. (they look great though) The plastic one that I used is cheap and easy to mount, under the tail section, with just cable ties. The M2 is in the shop, having some seals replaced, so I don't have the fluid build up. Good luck. |

Hello. I use a Jaz catch can too. In front of the battery seems to be a good location in my eyes. Cheers,Ralph

My catch can lives under the bike next to the rear shock. It is hung off a bracket attached to the front bolt of the drive sprocket cover. Line runs from the heads, down behind the sprocket cover, and into the can. All down hill. It is made of 2" PVC pipe with a cap on each end, a barbed fitting in the top, and a petcock in the bottom. It is mounted horizontally, so the 'bottom' and 'top' are the sides of the pipe, not the ends. I was going to paint it so it would look better, but frankly, down there under the engine, I don't even notice it. |

I bent the aluminum bar stock around the can a little bit, and then secured the can to the bracket with a hose clamp stuck through a hole drilled in the bracket. Pretty low tech, but functional, and cheap. |

How does it work without a vent ? I thought a catch can needs to be vented . |

The vent is in the airbox. Lines from the heads meet in a T, which runs to another T, one leg pointing down to the can, the other pointing up to a PCV valve, also inside the airbox. No goo comes out of the PCV valve, it all ends up in the can. I also have a much shorter vent length for the air pulses to travel than if it were run to a filter near the tail, or to a catch can. It is nearly as short as the OEM length of the vent tube that attaches to the snorkel. Interesting...badweb doesn't know the word 'attaches' |
