Don't know why I cant respond to my old thread but here is a link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/629036.html Went to court today and after sitting the the bench for 2 hours waiting they called me up... The judge called for the officer who was not to be found and they dismissed my case and told me it was my lucky day!!! |

Or, he went to court to prove he was innocent, and the prosecutor dismissed the case. |

Yea, now I can spend the money I would have to the state on parts from Erik Buell Racing to make it harder for the state to catch me!!

I went to court once. They started calling another officer's cases, he was gone, so about 12 cases dismissed. officer #2 - same, another dozen cases dismissed my officer - not present, 12 cases dismissed, they call mine and guess who walked in the courtroom? Yep. It turned out okay, but still cost me. about 36 cases dismissed, and my guy shows up! ARGH |

The truck was not turning... we were actually past the turn in but the center lane was still extended... |

Go xtreme6669! Nice you beat the party poopers! Enjoy it! My bro has gotten away twice! hypridmementspass, The cops are getting ridiculous, the quotas are increasing, which means cops are pulling people over for BS reasons, my buddy got pulled over for doing 71 in a 70, yes, 71 in a 70. So heck yeah its good to hear that some people get off easy once in while. Have you ever follow a cop, they do so much legal $hit its not even funny. I saw one going over 100 cutting in and out of lanes, I thought he was going to an accident so I follow behind him, he pulled into a mcDonalds. |

I agree Stevek.Like when people tell me,"If I have to wear a seatbelt you should have to wear a helmet!"It never crosses their mind that the government shouldn't be involved in either one of those decisions.ATGATT is my personal choice.WTG Extreme. |

What ever happened to "Do the crime, do the time"? I have my own jury. It's called a conscience. Ideology here seems to be that you have to get caught and then endure court before accepting personal responsibility for breaking a rule and even then, not much of it. Stupid laws exist, no doubt. I recommend if you want to avoid contributing to the revenue-collecting folks in blue that you don't break 'em, stupid or not. If you do, pay the toll. Don't think that you did break the law? You made obviously made SOMEbody think you did. Don't do that. Quite simple. |

Steel, I like your way of looking at life... for say misdemeanors and above. At the traffic level, it's all about making a vehicle difficult to drive legally and collecting fines. Ever wonder why the punishment for a traffic violation is *always* money, and not some perhaps more "lesson teaching" solution like a driver's course, community service, or so on? Likewise, ever notice the punishment for petty theft or even more serious crimes is rarely predominately a fine? |

I think the traffic violations are fines because it may make you think twice next time. If I was pulled over for doing 20 over and only had to go to a driver's course for a day, I'd continue to drive 20 over. If I was fined $300, I'm going to watch my speed a little more. And if I stole something and had to spend a week in jail, I wouldn't do it again. |

$300 is way less cost than losing a day... just sayin'. And, most of the fines aren't anywhere near $300. They are $150-$200. And, if you pay $50 more, the court will gladly defer sentence. c'mon man, it's a revenue scam. How much more obvious does it have to be? |

Poster Identity: Bcrawf68 Last time I allowed 50 to pull me over, the officer wrote a ticket on my 'buick' motorcycle, quoted my name wrong, my address wrong, my dl number wrong and the plate wrong. So, the judge orders the court clerk to 'fix' the mistakes...and them tells me I have to pay the ticket. Now, I play the 90 second game. (Message edited by blake on June 22, 2011) |

Poster Identity: Bcrawf68 yup, the 90 second game. I figure I have about 90 seconds where I can say I didn't know I was being chased. So, far, me - 4, 50 - nothing. Still, I'm not as crazy as a couple of guys I tried to follow through 5 o'clock traffic. We were going 110 to 120. People were driving across multiple lanes to get in the way, out of the way. Crazy! Steel, I mean no personal offense but you have the attitude of the sheep. Just accepting the bs of "that's the way it is, just deal with it" is the reason we have so many bad laws and why we are living in a virtual police state. Disagree, protest. At least not accepting bad traffic laws as the norm could help lead to change. The fact that lane splitting is frowned upon in most of the country, for example is ridiculous. In Ohio, the courts recently held that a cop could issue a ticket and it could stand up in court just because, in the cops esteemed opinion "it looked like" he was speeding. No quantitative measurement of speed required. That is just wrong! Of course, I live in the state with perhaps the most draconian speed enforcement in the country. |

All you "shame on you guys" for reveling in a victory against this f'ed to hell thing we call government, should get a backbone. It's us against them. Time for the government to get the hell out of the citizentry's pockets. Time for a revolution. |
