I hadn't chimed in yet but since BluzM2 & Norice couldn't make it and my son had to work until 7:15pm Thur., and wanted to be back Sunday, I was stuck. I even considered riding down since I had the time but our weather is going to suck too. I guess we will have to wait till October and see how that works out. |

Hi All! Update from Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson & Buell regarding March Badness VI. IT IS OFFICIAL – The Suches General Store will NOT be open on Sunday AT ALL! I tried and tried to no avail. So please purchase your gas before you get to Suches (Morganton, Blairsville or Dahlonega). There is a Citgo 12.3 miles from T.W.O. on Hwy 60. From T.W.O. turn right onto Hwy 60 – go across the mountain and it is on the left before Dahlonega. Weather permitting demos will begin at 9:00 am Saturday morning. The Buell demo coordinator gave me the following inventory of bikes on the truck: 2- 1125Rs 2 – 1125CRs 1 - Ullyses XB12X 1 – Ullyses XB12XT 1 – Lightening Low 1 – Lightening Long 1 – Lightening City X 2 – Firebolts 1 – Blast I’m working on getting something special from the store – TBA. FYI – Verizon seems to be the only cell phone carrier that works at T.W.O. If anyone would like to volunteer for registration we could use the help. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have any questions. Thanks to all!! Demos will run Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. As it stands right now, it looks like we'll get a full day of riding on Sunday. We're keeping an eye on the weather and hoping for the rain to move through. |

Christiankid3, how is the name of the town pronounced? There is great debate with us yankees about it. |

It depends on who you ask, but I pronounce it "Dah-lon-a-ga." Locals tend to pronounce the first part as "Duh" rather than "Dah." Either way, it's certainly not "Dah-lo-nega" |

Paint, Christiankid3, et al: May I suggest an alternate route without the extreme elevation changes you will see on the Cherohala- plus, you're planning to head back to Suches on the last leg on 129 after the Cherry? (Long day riding, and sketchy for road conditions mebbe.) I have a better run in mind, quicker to/from Suches with Tellico Plains being the northernmost terminus before you head south again back home. (Keeps ya westward, which may be a plus, depending on weather.) 60N in GA to 68N in TN, to Ducktown. Look for 64 to Ocoee. Begin heading W on 64, alongside the Ocoee river. Pretty, fast, and twisty. Warms ya up for the rest, which gets better! After a while, look for TN hwy 30 to Reliance TN. (This is a right turn route by the way, making a circle.) There is a cool, historic old store in Reliance youns should stop at. It overlooks the Hiwassee River, and it's beuutiful. Then turn right on 315 North out of Reliance, crossing slowly over the river as to best enjoy the scenery. More twisties ahead, be ready! North to hwy 39 (after a while), turn right. After about 3-5 miles, you're back on 68 again in Tellico Plains, ready to gas and grub and then continue south on 68 back home. This route is illustrated in the new Handlebars magazine, local to the Knoxville area on paper, but here's their website: www.fromthehandlebars.com A very good read as of late, BTW. I did this route from Knoxville with a buddy following me on a Blackbird- his 1st run, my 2nd. We left Mur-vil at 930am, got back by 2pm. 4.5 hours and 177 miles. Avg 39.33333333 MPH, and we stopped twice. Don't go that fast. (!) Hate to say it, but the Cherohala and the Gap have gotten too familiar- THIS is my new fave run for a twisty fix, out in the stix. NO popo NO squids NO tourists PLENTY of twisties and good scenery. WATCH the road, as this is all quite rural. GO RIDE IT cuz I can't. |

FT B: Look up this song, from locals to Knoxvegas. (I think Smokin Dave and the Premo Dopes) "Right Handed Love" |
