I took out my first bird on the way home Saturday:
That was after having the rear wheel bearing go out on Friday. That's kind of exciting at freeway speeds. Gover's HD in Piqua, OH (I-75 exit 83) got me fixed up in the morning. |

sweet, that's pretty gruesome looking. ummm, the wheel bearing stuff don't sound good. My bearings were going out on my old R1 once. I found the main reason, at least suggested to me, is I used dish soap to clean my bike. I did this often. The dish soap deteriorates the grease causing them to fail early. Sounded like it made sense to me. So.......I've always used less destructive cleaner on my bikes since. |

The bearings seem to be a problem on the Ulys. There's a thread on it over on big bad and dirty: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?142838/347045 Looks like they got the belt strong enough that it's not the weakest link in the drivetrain anymore. Somebody suggested they could be getting water in them and mine has been outside all winter. |

I've never hit an animal in my Escort, Dakota, or my Ram, but I've taken out two squirrels and four birds on my motorcycles. I'm not sure I'll ever figure out how that equation got so imbalanced. ...that damned pigeon on I94 nearly took me right out of the saddle. That was pretty frightening. O_o |

It was a small bird, probably a sparrow. It was in front of me about 10 feet up. It paused and looked down, I had enough time to think "Don't do it" before it dived right into my windshield. It must have hit the handle bar because seems to have exploded about there. It left a mess along the right side of the tank and inside the right handguard. There was a little thump on my right shoulder, but there wasn't much left at that point. |

Sorry for the late post Jugallo94, I've been kind of busy. I wish I had been keeping better track on this thread as I would have come down to see you. Little Kids in Korea, we had a big storm come through Friday night, then one yesterday and one today. I had a tree get hit by lightening and the farmer down the streets barn got hit by lightening and burnt to the ground this afternoon. I was the one who found the thing burning as he wasn't home. |

Had a slight electrical fire... (poor factory wire routing acording to American). Fuel pump, harness, etc was replaced... got the bike back and runs like a top... I might be up for a ride sunday... Let me call ya later on and see what my schedule holds... I have had a CRUD load of showings on my house (33 total in 7 months) and they usually tie up my weekend time... |

There is a ride to honor military veterans this weekend, I think part of it is at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. I also think you can meet at the Mt. Clemens Harley Davidson Dealer on Gratiot. I will be participating because it is my drill weekend. I will have more details on Saturday. I am 99% sure that it does not cost anything. It would be really cool if a bunch of Buells could be there! Give me a shout on my Cell phone if you want to come. Unfortunatly it will be a group ride no twistys. If you don't have my cell # PM me. |

Swampy, Unfortunatly for those of you that don't know, I will officially be single as of the June 30th. The cottage was my in-laws place. The ride on Sunday was long and boring, but really cool. There were 798 bikes, and that is a pretty impresive site. Not to mention that it was to honor the military. |

Schlepping back and forth to work on it. The morning ride in at 5am is pure bliss, empty roads, cool good smelling air and the drummer drummin'. The afternoon ride home at 4:30 is terror filled, sweaty hot (even in full mesh gear) and lots of people in SUV/Minivans that are sure that 1/2 car spacing at 80mph is OK. Madison Hts back to Wyandotte through the I-75 closure sucks. There just is no good quick way around it going home. Did a lap of Grosse Ile on Tuesday night in the evening. Not much traffic, some cool good smelling air coming off the river on the east side. Free Bridge is open again. About 1/4 mile of riding on the steel grate surface of the bridge looking at the water below is interesting. |

Sad news I saw on another board. I do not know him, someone here might. http://www.motownmuscle.com/forums/showthread.php? t=79982 Please Say Prayer For My Buddy and His Two Sons Yesterday at around six o clock my good friend Alex was Struck head on and killed on his motorcycle at 10 and groesbeck. Im not sure on all the details as of now, but he does have two sons and they are devistated right now. He was a good friend and a good father and was just starting to get his life going in the right direction again. So if you could say a prayer or two i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again everyone

Hello everyone, Is there anyone in the Northville area that might have some time to do a TPS reset for me? My lightning is acting like it needs it, and the dealers all want me to make an appointment for times when I am at work and can't make it. (I am thinking to just ride to one and see if they can't just do it real quick...) |
