10.5-180, correct! Cant wait to see a pic of the new 'filter'. Not currently receiving e-mails from Badweb perhaps due to the new server. |

The 180 was put in at the dyno runs. It is too rich, but made the most consistent power over the most rpms. Ran to the rich WOT (6500-7500rpm). Lean without the air filter, but perfect at 6500-7500. Ran out of time for further tuning, but I think a 175 or 170 might be perfect (with air filter), but I'm going to need a skinnier needle as I think I'm nearing the limit of needle shims. Didnt bother with any tuning below 3000 rpms... yet. (Message edited by gearheaderiko on November 21, 2007) |

- the specks are double the flow with half the protection ratio - 0.01 still isn't bad in my book - I change the oil every 2000 - so long term dirt is not a worry - just don't want gunk in the carb - he says this will be water resistant not repellent due to the more open weave - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Not much of a difference on the Black bike - things are a bit more linear but thats it - the red bike is still down so will have to wait on that test. I will say that my long usage of the Dial A Jet by Thunder Products has left me totally impressed - not having to rejet after each mod - how it compensates and smooths out the fuel delivery - feels very linear, never having to worry about leanness, I have really come to appreciate its ability. Erik - you should try it on the race bike - be prepared to jet down to 45/155 - lol - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

The raceBlast is already at 45/155 (or 150). Looking forward to the dyno runs and trying the stack out and some new needles and jetting. After that we'll try the Dial-a-jet. Jim, I think your the first person I know to actually buy a stock a/f or was that $$ for the K & N? |

Don't put the DAJ on the race bike - I don't think they make jets in the 140 range. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

From what I understand they do make jets smaller than 140 (I have a 140). I think we've all been waiting a long time for a Blast power upgrade with off the shelf parts! Sometimes I feel like Sisyphus and the Blast is my rock! (Message edited by Gearheaderiko on December 06, 2007) |

Me? Foul Demon? There's the pot calling the kettle black! LOL... who was it who tempted me into hanging onto my other blast? Remember??? "keep one as a stocker and build the other one". I'm just trying to return the favor... I thought you were going for the record of most blasts owned by a non-dealership or even some dealerships for that matter... I better alert The Guinness Book of Records and let them know that you wimped out. I see someone bid low on it so the "buy it now" is gone. |

Actually a past member from New Zealand has that honor - Gavin - bought 6 Blasts, imported them, sold all but one then fixed that one up pretty nice -
Then he sold that to afford some other thing - he's was/is a collector. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Great paint scheme, really makes the blast look classy, rich rather than cheap. I might steal ... errr.. umm borrow his ideas! I really like the silver / aluminum on the primary and cam covers instead of black. How hard would it be to put the pushrod tubes on the blast like that? |

Well you could cut everything out - use adjustable push rods as well as the adjustable push rod covers - lol - Other news - the air filter used on the red bike did produce a noticeable difference in linear power and the red/black bike is now again too damn close to the black bike - there is a difference but its now a lot closer - even airflow is now maximized through the rpm range making the zip much quicker still - can't be too lean though - no popping out the back and the air screw is still the same. |
