Inspired by Spiderman...

If you think you know some obscure fact or trivia about Buell motorcycles that the rest of us would find interesting, share it here.

From Anthony (Spiderman)...

quote:

On the XB the three lines that go into the Swing arm/oil tank are all diffrent thread sizes so there is no chance you can cross lines.

And

quote:

Under the motor there is basically a block; that is the small sump that the motor has, where the windage tray is basically. It is towards the back of the motor. You will want to put the bike on a rear stand an get under there to find it. It is recessed, so if the bottom of your motor is gunky, you will not be able to see it.

He set the bar pretty high. Anyone else?

The number of times you hear

"Hey dude, do a wheelie, c'mon dude do a wheelie"

from the passenger in the car in the left turn lane, waiting to see if you do, even though his light is green and the other cars are honking at him will be 1000% higher than any other bike you have ever owned.

PS- This actually happened to me the very first ride I took on my 98 S1. He was very dissapointed when I pulled away at a nice conservative pace.

LOL...most of the connections on a XB are the same ones used in Ford vehicles. Many even have Ford P/Ns stamped on them. It runs the gambit froom injectors to CHT sensor to even the turn signal bullets.

I ran into a guy at Ford once that worked on the wiring for the XB9R. He said he'd done it while he worked at AFL, which did a lot of Ford business. They're on their way out now, though, so I don't know if they actually do the XB wiring or not.

Ohhh just thought of another fact,
the old over the frame exhaust header will fit on the newer Tubers with the under the frame exhaust, but a under the frame exhaust header will not fit a over the frame exhaust tuber unless the header is modified.
Shit now I have gone cross eyed.

God, Dana, don't say that. I hate Ford's with a passion (Focuses and Mustangs more than anything) - it's bad enough they use the same injectors.

Did you know that the record for most curse words uttered in a single breath is held by someone attempting to get Blast's left-side peg mount off?

Uh, actually the RIGHT side peg mount is even more of a PITA - but is far less likely to need to be removed...

LOL speaking of axels..
The front, rear an pivot bolt on the XB's all use the same size allen. Or that little tool you get in the kit with the XB's.

The number of people that will tell you your XB is still on as your walking away is inversely proportionate to the number of people that actually know what it is your riding.

I actually had a guy tell me to do a wheely the first time a test rode a Buell XB9S. Which was also my first time ever on a Buell. Now most people tell me not to do them. (i.e. The wife and my Mom.)

When the Harley logo on the bottom of the cylinder isn't there, in it's place is "HD".
Mine has the shield, Mike's has the "HD".

Wyckedflesh,

The number of people that will tell you your XB is still on as your walking away is inversely proportionate to the number of people that actually know what it is your riding.

How true that is.

My 13 year old Little Kid can take the left side foot peg mount off in his sleep and he doesn't say anything while doing it. He needs a summer job so you can bring'em to me.
