Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | XB9R, Bought 11 April 2003 - 7200 miles, oil lines in front rubbing thru steel braids, Covered under warranty. - 10600+ miles, had an oil leak for quite some time now, dealer tried to fix it once, it worked for about a week and came back, so it's going back in for it again, looks like it's coming from the oil pump, but it's hard to tell it collects low and high as it runs back so might have 2 leaks?? Update.... The managed to fix the leak that ran low (oil pump) just gotta find the one that seaps oil high now. - 16000+ miles, cleaned casing where oil was leaking on the top, haven't seen any new leaks since. - 19112 miles, speedometer stopped working. Waiting on part to come in. - 23582 miles, need to take her back in for those damn oil leaks again.....LOL - 23615 miles, cleaned off engine, oil leaks went away, for now?? - 28640 miles, clip holding high beam light in place broke, repaired it with a paper clip. - 30321 miles,(16 Apr 04) Took into dealership for the oil leaks, they found that my oil pump was cracked. Ordered new one and applied sealent to stop the leak(temp fix). - 30344 miles,(18 Apr 04) piston rod broke in half and came disconnected from lower end. Warranty buying new engine. Had to replace the swing arm and all oil lines also due to all the metal fragments. Down for approx 3 weeks. - 30736 miles,(11 May 04)Drive Belt Broke (1st One)Same day I got it out of the shop, Damn speed bumps.Found several things wrong that the dealer (Chosa's HD Buell in Mesa, Az.)did wrong. While replacing the belt. Found that they did not hook up the emission canister (Cali bike), they main fuse was dangling in the battery compartment and the idle screw was not secured like it should have been. All of this was after I made them adjust the 2 front oil lines because they were rubbing together. - 30825 miles, installed the Drummer. - 34167 miles, (03 June 04)Back in shop, for engine light & cooling fan not working, Diagnosis...fan wires came disconnected and one was broken.(I wonder if that was compliments of Chosa's HD also??) - 44202 miles (23 Mar 05) Stator took a dump and killed the battery with it. (If your bike starts to smell like natural gas, your stator is going bad). - 47xxx miles (10 Feb 2006) Voltage Regulator took a dump. (11 Feb 06 Wife made me buy a Japanese Bike). - 51181 miles (27 Mar 06) Fly wheel took a dump. Took out the front piston and jug with it. - 51181 miles, (9 June 06) Picked up from dealership on the way home smelled oil burning. (in process of moving didn't have time to look at it, trucked it out to Cali) - 12 June found oil leak, coming from return line fitting, Fitting was totally stripped out when they reinstalled it. - 16 June 06, Dropped back off at dealership for mechanic redo. - 23 June 06, Called dealership, still hasn't been fixed yet. - 51181 miles, as of 27 Mar 06 odometer is off by 2382 so if you want to know the indicated subtract 2382 <img src="http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/grrin.gif" border=0> Wife's Blast No Problems as of yet other than of my own creation. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/20164/98990.html?1108834026 |

Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | The XB9R is my first Buell and New Motorcycle. It ROCKS, I've had 3 used bike prior to my Buell, 2 Honda's and 1 Kawasaki which I sold in broken condition. Get to Ride The Buell everyday now. Bought a Blast for the Wife, She LOVES it!! She's put over 3k on it since September 03. She's already talking about getting another bike. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Better color schemes, Some are horrible. |
Life History/Philosophy: | S.I.F.O.I. (Stay In Front Of Idiots) You can quote me on that one. "Ride it till it seizes." "Ain't No Crastination, like Procrastination" |
