I'm just wondering what spools that Turbo...isn't it usually the exhaust?

Anyways, looks pretty slick...I wouldn't mind a ride on that!

You can see the belt drive for the supercharger.
I wonder what the power and weight are for that twisted thumper.

In place of the rear cylinder, a Rotrex Supercharger that spins at 120,000 RPM was installed. The half a v twin produces 83 rear wheel horse power at 6400 rpm.

Very fun. We built something like this at Buell a long time ago, but unfortunately we never get to show our protoypes, only those things that make it to production

But Buell did build a turbo S1, and there were a few, all be it very small pic's that surfaced. I think one was in Battle2win with Erik on board at Harleys 95th. Like I said though, it was a small pic.

Care to dig a couple out of the archives anonymous?

The turbo wasn't a secret by any means. When Erik and I were asked to participate in a wedding on the steps of 3700 Juneau he rode the S1 Turbo.

There were tons of photos but alas the project was in vane.

This is the bike that Goldhammer raced at Bonneville this year with, looks like, the same engine. He turned about 148 mph on a tuning run which would have been a record, I don't think he got a return run because of the weather.

He builds some interesting bikes.

groan. If the turbo project was in vane, then the pressure of the supercharger project must have gotten everyone cranked up, only to fail to reach production again. I say we tighten our belts and take a deep breath and try again...

I really enjoy seeing the creativity of some of these custom designers, and Goldhammer is one of my favorites. His design sense, and fabrication skills are of the highest order.

That being said, I can't help wondering exactly what the point of this type of project really might be.

I mean this wonderful looking, innovative bike is not as fast in a straight line as a Buell 1125R, cost most likely north of five times as much, and would be lucky to get a good look at its stern in a spirited run down Deal's Gap.

I guess I would like everyone to be like John Britten whose marvelous creations were not only an affirmation of the human creative spirit, but were competitive motorcycles on a world class level.

Of course I know that men like that pass by only infrequently. What a tragedy that he was so prematurely gathered.

There are very few multi-millionaires who are ready to spend their money on anything that isn't going to return low risk cash on their investment, and when they do it's mostly only for direct pleasure (yachts, parties, etc.). John Britten was quite rare in that respect.

My point was Court, the turbo S1 was at venues where no doubt it was photographed lots of times, but I've only ever seen like 2 passport size photos published. Hence, "care to dig a couple out of the archives anonymous"?

Well . . . I can you it was photographed on a number of occasions. Erik and I participated in the wedding of two Buell riders that took place on the steps of HD HQ. I rode my black www.buell.com factory bike and he rode the S-1 with the Turbo. There were tons of pics taken at the wedding. After that we headed up to Pilgrim Road for a BattleTrax.

That bike by the way was not the turbo that was envisioned as a consumer product it was one of Erik's "Experimentals" like "Big Red".

The Turbo that was "looked in to" was 2 years later and was doomed by high vane failure rates.

This is based entirely on rumor and may or may not be accurate. I suspect the bike may have accidently failed to make it's date with a dumpster.

Time will tell . . . I won't.

Keith Ball's 'Bikernet' has a detailed article about the hand built disc brake hubs on the Notorious bike. It's in the 'tech' section.
I'm not always a big fan of Goldammer's styles, but the guy is a wizard in the machine shop.

Sorry guys. No other pic's of the JAP or Honda lowrider. Glad you liked them though. I'll trawl the web to see if the stands they were exhibited on have online pic's.

I seem to think the Honda is well famous from years ago, but I wouldn't know how to find anything out about it without its 'name'.
