So my front brake is squealing a lot, ever since I practiced my hard stopping in a parking lot 2 weeks ago. There is still a good amount of pad left on the stock pads. Do the stock pads have squealing issues from getting too hot or did I polish the rotor from hard braking and need to rough the rotor up with some sand paper?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think rotors aren't suppsed to be "roughed up".

Could be brake dust buildup. Try cleaning it out good first. Maybe a good strong shot from the hose, followed by some actual brake cleaner, then hosed again.

You don't ever want to sand a noticeable amount of material off... but hitting a rotor with sand paper just to 'rough it up' is fine. I was actually taught (in automotive school) that you are supposed to do that after you turn a set of car rotors.

I actually bet your pads could use "roughed up". I bet if you pull them off they look polished. I tend to pull them off, and rub them face down on my concrete driveway for a minute.

+1 Mike

I used emery cloth on mine to clean it up when I put the new pads on. Got all of the chatter marks off from the stock pads.
