I just pulled my primary cover on a 2001 Blast. I have about 1/4" of total travel measured at the end of the shift lever. Is this normal? There is also about 1/16 or 1/8" of in and out travel. Although I am not having any shift or neutral problems should I pull the clutch basket and check further? I also have almost 1/4" of wear on my primary adj. shoe. Should it be replaced also?

Replace shoe, if your in that far and have the tools, remove the clutch as a unit, and the other as well and do your shift Pawl adjustment, and chamfer the edges of the stator wire protection plate as well, perhaps put on a new detent plate clip as well. If you follow it per spec in the manual, your bike will probably shift very smoothly when buttoned up and running - both mine have.

Shift lever travel is normal.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm still looking for the shoe. I was trying to go back together this weekend, but I guess I'll have to order and wait. My plan is to go ahead with the shift drum and detent plate inspection. I'll update if I find anything else.
