This probably isn't news to some of you, but I was wondering what you guys think of these new nortons? I think they look pretty sweet.

I like the bike generally speaking. Those pipes are too retro...a tidy under-seat exhaust, ala Honda RR's would be a nice transitional touch...but then, that's what the after-market is all about heh?

I remember reading somewhere that they are redesigning the pipes because they are scraping in corners.

Overpriced. Last I saw was $22,000.00 for one.

From their FAQ's: The MSRP for the 952 Commando Signature series is $19,995. Production 952 Commandos are expected to retail for $14,995...I think that is still too expensive though...

For $15k you could get a new Thruxton Triumph and add some hot rod bits and still have money left over. The Norton is a cool bike no doubt, but not that cool....

Congratulations to Kenny Dreer for a successful run. It took a lot of guts to commit your life to a pipe dream. Sound like someone we know of?

I love it! I would get one in minute if I could afford one. Very much like a Buell in concept, a light roadster powered by a simple air-cooled pushrod motor. The main difference being the traditional styling on the Norton, which looks mouth-watering, BTW.

yep, had a chance to go to the factory in portland when I was there last year on business...met and talked with the whole crew, saw the place, plans, bought a shirt, etc...really grass roots...moving forward the way they should....selling the bikes, then building them, growing slowly...nice bike...Nortons were always a favorite of mine anyway....rex

I don't think $15,000 or even $22,000 is too much for the new Norton.

Nobody in the universe is going to buy one of these bikes because it's a good dollar value:

"Gee, should I spend $17K and get an 85Hp twin that goes maybe 130mph and has a dealer network amounting to squat, or $10.8K and get a Hayabussa......?" Well, Duh.

After you have achieved some certain net worth, you buy a Norton (and to some extent, a Buell) because you want one, not because they are "worth" the price tag. You pay what you have to for the bike and take great pride in knowing you won't see three more just like it on your next ride. The only people that whine about the outrageous price are people that can't afford one.

That should be "..that can't afford one, but still want one anyway."
