Hey, I'm new to the board and this is the best I can do for a greating. With that said I would like to say that I have been wanting a Buell for a long long time. Since I just had a nice high side on my current bike (Yamaha FZR 600 1993) and being it needs some work I've decided to turn it into a project bike and get another one for the time being. Well, the Buell has been on my mind for a long time now. I know it will not be a straight line king or anything but from what I've read and heard it makes one hell of an around town bike and also a corner cutter like nothing else, once you get how it handles down. Also, I'm a lover of the V-Twin roar. So, with this said, I was wondering from the owners of the XB series what your experence has been with them? Are they as improved in reliability as has been stated? What problems have you run into with yours? What is your overall opinion of them? I could ask this on other sites but all I ever hear is "why would you spend $10000 on a bike that's no faster than a 600cc.". I'm tired of questions to why I want a bike. Why should I have to explain that when all I want is an answer. Sorry for the rant.

I love my XB12R. I bought it cause i love the way they look and sound. Plus i only try to buy American made stuff.

Now i`d love it alot more if it had 20 more hp and a 6th gear...

I've owned my Buell 9s for 7mths now (after years of rice-grinders) I use the bike almost everyday (7000mls),in every type of weather,it's kept outside 24/7 and has'nt let me down once!

It's unique, loud and different, and never fails to put a smile on my face everytime I ride it.......Enough said

You sound like a Bueller already!
There are a few guys here with about 25,000 on 03XB9s.
Almost all XB owners report few problems (not self made anyway!) . The XBs seem very reliable.
I agree with everything Stoobr2 & Johncr250 just said.
Now if Santa Buell made a 6 speed I could drop into my XB12R Id be a BETTER little boy!

Welcome!
I just got my XB12R two weeks ago. I have been having more fun than on any bike I rode in a long time! Did you ever see the shirts with the phrase" If I have to explain.. you wouldn't understand" ? Ignore the ignorant. You have found a GREAT site.I have had several question answered. Get one and enjoy!!

10,660 miles on an XB9R I've had since April28, 2002. I've had one insignificant oil leak, and had the wheel bearings and sidestand recalled umm...performance upgraded.

I have never known a day where I have regretted buying this bike.

(handled pretty well in near-blizzard conditions yesterday, too) : )

XB9R
17,650 miles since May 16 02.

One broken belt at 14.5k, but it was due to be replaced at 15k, so I chalk that up to regular maintence. That's it. No other problems that I would hold the factory responsible for.

This bike makes me feel like a hero everytime I ride it.

Another question, I live in Florida and was going to head to Stuart Harley Davidson where my parents got their bikes. My parents had a good experence with one of the sales people (accually, very good. He busted his rear for them and for them one hell of a price) and I planned on going through him. My question is has anyone on here delt with the dealership and what have your experences been? I've heard that some HD dealers support Buell and others don't.

Cataract2,
I bought mine from Palm Beach Harley. My sales
guy went way above and beyond to help me choose my bike. They have some leftovers from '01, '02,& '03. I would recommend him strongly. No pushy "buy it today" pressure. I looked and asked questions for 2 weeks before buying, and he never once seemed like He wanted me to hurry up and buy one. Anyone who lives in S. Fla. knows what I mean. His name is Chuck, tell him Jay sent you. Go get one, you'll be glad you did

I've had my XB9R since May 02. I am VERY satified with the XB. Been on the track, taken road trips of 400+ mile days(buy the optional touring seat you won't regret it). And just ridin in general.
As for the jap bikes don't worry about them, the XB will run with them until you get to triple digit speeds. My friend had his rc51 in Daytona this year he thought he'd lose me once in a while...his look of surprise when I stayed with him til 100+ thats fast enough on the street.
Go buy a XB they are a good machine

I've had my XB9R for about 9 mos. now, bought it used; was gonna get a GSX-1000 and am glad I didn't, probably woulda killed ma dumb squid ass by now...I like the XB better the longer I ride it, mine came w/ almost new Michelin Pilot Sports, that may account for some of it; had it at TWS today and was startin' to get real comfortable w/ the bike. I like power as much as the next guy, but I could pretty much care less about straight-line speed.

The xb9r I have owned for 2 years has been a good
machine, the recalled wheel bearings failed. They were only on the first year machines and after they were replaced under warranty I have had no other problems, 13k miles. I have ridden with all type of jap bikes, and up to about 130 there is no problem, after that, forgetit! But usually
we don't go much past 110. I cannot Imagine you being dissapointed with an xb they are well built machines.
