If someone will make a cool one with a mouse on an excercise wheel, I'm interested. That would be too funny.

Even a decal would be fine, would fit right over the stock cover.

There's no such thing as a strange question, Rat, just strange people!

The are several reasons for the different mounting hole locations.

The main reason is the outstanding creativity and orneryness of the typical Buelligan.

The secondary reason is that there are a number of available holes.

Under the stock cover, is another plate to which the stock cover plate is riveted in a horizontal position. Some brothers tap out those holes with a 10/32 tap, and use the horizontal holes, as I do with my old school Pegasus cover.

sss

Other brothers discard the stock cover, and underplate, and screw the new plate into the holes formerly used by the underplate. That is the 10:30/5:30 alignment.

Sort of six of one, half dozen of the other, see what I mean?

Of course the Horizontal alignment is the correct one.

No tapping required.
It threads in the threads that are already there, all you need is a couple of screws.

So where did the see thru cover come from?

I recently saw a FatBoy with see thru clutch and primary chain adjustment covers. When i asked the guy he just mumbled that they came out of some catalog! I don't think he wanted to share!
