When I first bought my (3rd) Buell

I thought - "hey I should connect with a forum to see about what is what"...

NOTE: I am not a "forum guy" per se

What I discovered first was I was amazed at the amount of basic info exchanged routinely here

I discovered second that this was not an "altruistic" forum- meaning a few people were here to promote their business- which originally offended me> being a forum and all: However, I have grown to accept and appreciate the NO BS reliance the sponsors have with the Bad Webbers- GASP even bought stuff from DaveS!!

Third- This is a well run forum (I have looked into other bike forums to discover what they have to compare)- this is a people/ information forum-not a vindictive SLAGfest and it is well moderated

Thanks for a job well done

Thanks Steven!

One thing that all of us custodians past and present have learned is that there's no way to please everyone, so we try our best to stick to our guns and maintain consistency and a fun place for Buell enthusiasts to hang out online. I sure appreciate and am humbled by your kind and thoughtful words. It's sure nice to hear them too. Thanks again.

I love this forum as well. It helps me spend my money too. Lets see, I've spent about $2500 on my bike since I've been here, so thats $18.80 per day or $14.37 per post! It's much cheaper than a crack habit but twice as addicting

I didn't exactly know what to think when I saw This forum- my observances FWIW (HA!), but I'm glad I read on.
It's not often you hear nice things.
If times are nice you seldom hear a word, when they're not, it's all you hear.
Thanks so very much for the kind words!

There is a reason I visit this site multiple times every day. I appreciate the easy access to a depth of knowledge that is worth thousands of years of experience. I don't think Court is that old... but I feel I get a very friendly sense of belonging to a great bunch of guys (and girls)that share the same passion (obsession).

I never used to visit forums and can't stand it when I don't have access to BadWeb for more than a couple of days. I think you do a superb job and if we ever should meet, I'll buy the beer.

This site provides the best service to Buell owners.
Any question or problem you are having with your bike can be taken care of here.
Those who run it are the best!!
If I was forced to quit riding (God forbid), I would still join this group every day.

I've not always agreed with the way the board has been run (ruled!), but the results speak for themselves.

The moderation of this forum is what keeps it successful.

I'll chime in with good news also. I am a pretty new member here, as well as a pretty new Buell owner, and have found BadWeb exceptionally helpful 7 entertaining. I was lurking for a few months doing research working up to trading in my Sportster onto a Buell. And as I sit here nursing my injuries from my recent getoff, it has helped satisfied my need for a Buell fix until I can ride again (hopefully next week).

Fantastic resource with great folks. I had several offers of assistance from Orlando area members when I posted about my wreck - it was really touching to get that kind of welcome from folks I didn't even know except through a brief conversation on the forum. Thanks

BadWeb has certainly introduced us to some really great people. It was nice getting to talk to several BadWebbers while updating the RAN. This is truly a great site. There is sharing of information about our Buells and the general support of day to day life when you need it.

This place is great for quick access to more know-how than any Buell service department can offer (or at least that's been my experience thus far). Not that there aren't some knowledgeable dealers out there, but they are a rarity, and Badweb is ALWAYS quicker! Now if only the mods could figure out a way to run online diagnostics...

But of course. We are already planning our rides for 2007. Heck we made the cover of 3%ers video of March Badness 3 and tagged the Buell truck with some real class, style.

By the way we already have Central lined up!

I've been lurking for a few months too. Except for the crazy balloon guy earlier in the week crying about his $20 wheel bearings and threatening to sue God and everybody because he was in the same room with a senator once or whatever, I've been impressed with the friendships and wealth of knowledge to be had here.

Looking forward to meeting some of you guys someday. I don't know a soul I can ride with here at Sam Houston State University, much less any fellow Buellers. I'm a grad student by the way, so no I'm not a squid kid. (-:

My name is Philip by the way. My baby's name is Joplin - she's a 05 XB12Scg. I've had her one year this month and she has changed my fundamental outlook on what life is really all about. Don't tell my real girlfriend. LOL!

Skyguy has valid points there Phil, mostly due to numerous problems that he has had. The bearings just put him over the edge and after seeing the problems he has had as well as how patient he had been through all of it I'm surprised it took him this long to explode. Glad to see another Bueller on the board though, Welcome.

Thanks Hammer. I can empathize with the guy too I suppose. I don't know that I'd get so upset over a cheap part most people would consider a wear item though. Bearings go out. I would like to see them last a little longer granted, but my bike is my tension release so I try not to get in a twist over the small stuff.

I could whine if I wanted to though. When I signed the deal for my bike it had six miles on it. When they delivered it (three days late), it had 56 miles and a bashed in muffler. I didn't notice it until I changed the oil at 1000 miles. So, I didn't even bother to call them on the muffler even though I was still sore about someone taking a joyride on my new toy, and I was positive I hadn't damaged the muffler.

Then the compensator nut backed off the primary sprocket at 3,228 miles. Being new to motorcycling, I thought I had blown the engine.

When I got the bike back a week to ten days later, the clutch cable housing was pinched between the primary cover and the lower fairing, causing it to rip and leak all my primary fluid out all over the garage floor. Then I got to looking at it and realized that the mechanic had also dragged the outside of the cover on the concrete and put about a 1" rub mark in the paint just above the clutch cable on the leading edge. It took quite a bit of convincing to get them to come get it and fix the damage.

I'm not down on the big picture though. I love my bike and realize that stuff happens. I did however switch dealerships for service.

If any of you are ever in south Texas, visit Independence H/D in College Station. They don't even sell Buells and they're over the top glad for our service business. Good people over there.

I was just going to suggest a change in service dealers. I do my own that way if it breaks I have no one else to blame. Besides I know its done and I know its done right (mostly) some shortcuts have to be taken here and there. I would have been livid with your issues upon delivery.

Thanks all so much for your kind thoughts.

It was nice while it lasted. :/ <sigh>

Phillip (Tx05xb12s),

I and the other custodians agree with you. There just simply is never any justification for misbehaving like a very few folks seem to think they are entitled to do here. A mature adult can express anger and frustration without behaving like a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum. That kind of unfortunate behavior is just more miserableness. Thanks for sharing your view on the issue, I think it is 100% valid.

That's high praise coming from you Blake. You guys will find as you get to know me that I'm a pretty upbeat person.

Time heals all (eventually), so I hope he is able to get past his bad experience. I know what he's mad about - it's the feeling of being powerless to control the situation and the huge disappointment after his expectations of owning his bike were probably at an all time high before he started having problems.

The fact that it's a $20 part that I somewhat crassly needled him about is beside the point in his mindset. It's just too bad that he could start enjoying himself again if he just took control of the situation with a little damage control in his own version of right and simply chose to feel that feeling of elation like the first time he sat on her once again.

One way my bike radically changed my outlook on life is to make me realize that playing in traffic is dangerous and it could all be over in an instant at any time.

I do my best to ride maturely (sometimes) and wear a ridiculous amount of the best safety gear money can buy, but I realize that it could all be over in an instant.

Therefore, I accept responsibility for my decisions in all things and live every day with a love of life like today will be my last. This mindset came from accepting the risk of riding and letting the joy of the experience serve as a model for everything else in my life too.

So, I didn't know that riding my Buell would make me a philosopher. LOL! Really though, don't sweat the small stuff and wring life out of your days like you really can squeeze blood from a turnip.

The time we spend upset doesn't come with a refund you know. We shouldn't let people take that time from us. We do have a choice.

By the way, what I witnessed in the string we're talking about has no bearing on my opinion of the site and the people here in general. I wasn't offended. Actually, it got me to stop lurking and start participating instead in hopes of counterbalancing what I had witnessed with a different perspective like yen & yang. (-:

I had a pretty rough start to Buell ownership. All it took was the right dealer to work with me on warranty issues and it changed the course of what felt like a very bad decision at the time.

As it stands 6 years later, it turned out to be a very good decision. Buying a notoriously unreliable motorcycle from a new motorcycle company at a premium price turned out to be one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life... ahem.

At a minimum, I plan on attending the Buell B-Que '07 (Nick & Sammie's), March Badness '07, and Headless Horseman III next year - hope to see you there.

Oh, I forgot to include Homecoming '07
