Carb fyi - the aux fuse handles the carb electronics as well. If that fuse goes, signals go, and carb electrics which could stick you on hi idle if the day never reaches above 50 and the commute only 25 miles - lol - ask me how I know - lol

Thanks, that reminds me I need to get a spare for mine. If my memory serves me correctly (and that's asking a lot these days) the spare blank is a ILCO X270 TMCI. Of course this info won't get you riding right now, but for the future if you need a spare made up.

So i was able to verify that indeed the ignition module only provides the 12V to the AE if the engine is running. after letting my engine warm up i quickly pulled apart the carb and verified that the AE does shut and then let it cool down and it opened so it is good. the bike still won't cold start. in fact to get it to start i have to cover the front of the carb with my hand tightly so that the bike sucks pretty hard, the bike will then start right up i play with the throttle to keep it going, once warm it runs like a champ. i can't quite figure out the timing (maybe this is the prob) turn the timing so that the light is on while the mark is in the opening right? i can't get the light to turn off while the mark is in the window. the bike runs best with the ignition module turned fully clockwise. turn it much clockwise and it starts to backfire when reved up. not sure where to go from here. wish i had a Air/fuel mix gage.

To static time your engine you want to line up the slot(TDC) not the two dots(Timing) in the window.

What you are describing by having ot hold your hand over the carb to start your Blast is a too lean mixture to start your engine, yes the enrichener is working....but not rich enough to start on it's own. Make sure your primary and idle carburetor circuits are clean with the correct jetting...a 46 primary or in your case you should probably go to a 48 and that your float level setting is correct.
Good luck.

Just wanted to thank Gearheaderiko and Tin_Man_2 for giving me one of the most enjoyable days I've had since early June 2011!

My stock muffler had come apart at the seam joining the header pipe and the boat anchor, so I had finally gotten the money together to buy a Vance & Hines. (It took a while because we are preparing a house to go on sale, my daughter's getting married, etc. etc.)

I was having trouble "sliding" the new header pipe into the muffler can...in fact, it was impossible! Then, on January 29-30, Gearheaderiko and Tin_Man_2 recommended using tools rented from an auto parts store to expand the entrance into the muffler can. Hokey smoke!

It took visits to three stores over a few days, before I found one with the necessary "exhaust pipe expander" in the right size and NOT broken (that last part is important, too, lol!). Ten minutes and $4.98 later that header pipe was sliding into the muffler can like it was supposed to, and I couldn't wait for this weekend to arrive!

Saturday afternoon I sat down on the garage floor with my tools, my new muffler, and my Buell Blast, and after a couple of dead ends, got it all together with a final assist from my wife to get the clamp over the now-expanded muffler can entrance with the header pipe in it. Yes, it took me two and a half hours, but if a non-mechanically minded individual can do this, anyone can!

After supper, I put on my gear and went out to the bike. It tried to start, almost caught a couple of time, but just couldn't quite get over the hump. I figured maybe I had flooded the bike, so I stopped, went back into the house and waited an hour. I geared back up, went into the garage, and this time, IT FIRED RIGHT UP!

I went out for just enough of a neighborhood jaunt to make sure everything still worked all right. It did, so this afternoon, I hopped on the bike and did rode all over the place. I stayed off the highways, but otherwise, it was funfunfun on the bike. I hadn't forgotten as much as I was afraid that I had and while I am not up to where I was in June 2011, this ain't bad at all!

So thanks again, Gearheaderiko and Tin_Man_2...it may take me a looooong time to process the information you gave me, but it was used and now I am riding again!

Thanks to everyone who has helped me at this site since I got the Blast! Look for more posts soon!

Concur with Swampy, more or less (though I think a #48 is too rich, but.....that might cure your problem, asap!).

It is possible the shop that did your carb altered the float bowl adjustment (by accident). I would just very carefully change the slow jet out first and leave everything else alone. Use a good quality or brand new screwdriver to unscrew the slow jet. Strip it and you're in a would of trouble!

Hey guys quick question for you all. I dueled my exhaust and the bike wasnt getting enough of the go gas so I replaced both my jets to the next size up from stock. Bike is starting fine but dies as soon as the auto enricher shuts off or as soon as I give it throttle. the idle mixture screw is at 3 or 3.5 turns out as recommended by EZ. I know I just need to fiddle with the carb but trying do it fairly quickly due to the fact I set the neighbors car alarm off at idle : p

Das Boot connection - check and the boot as well. Try 2 3/4 turns out - too lean - check carb line plug cap as well.

What did you do to break an engine case? It will probably be cheaper to just find a used engine. Somebody here recently had his seize up and bought a used engine to replace it with. Maybe he'll sell you his seized engine?

Leo: Did the bike run okay before you did the rejet? If it did, then you've done something wrong. If you pulled the carb completely off, there is a small piece that can fall out without you noticing it when you did the main jet. (if thats it, its a small barrel shaped piece that the needle slides in and out of at the bottom of the carb venturi.

Just changing the exhaust or just doing a rejet shouldnt cause the bike to completely not start or run, unless you've fouled something up. Backtrack and see what you might have missed.

PS Smoke out of the carb is mostly meaningless (in this situation).

Here they call it a "Collar", but the correct name for the silver piece is "Needle Jet" (p/n 27100-88), as it's the jet that is metered by the needle.

The "Holder" is called the "Emulsion Tube", where it's real name is "Needle Jet Holder" (p/m 27101-88).

Check for the silver Needle Jet. It should protrude up into the bore of the carb from the bottom, the needle slides down into it.

Cases can be welded (depending on how bad it is). Its still no small feat to disassemble the whole engine to have it done.
