I read that the blast is supposed to have an automatic choke, but for me to start my bike i have to open the throttle up all the way when i push the ignition to get it started, then once it has started i have to keep giving it some throttle until the bike has warmed up otherwise the bike will die.

that blastard boot... one of the only real weak spots in a pretty solid bike.

Reuel (or anybody else) when you did the testing for your ignition, did you happen to notice if the auto-enrichener has power all the time or only for a limited time, then the power is cut? The manual seems to indicate that it only gets power for a limited time (until the bike is warmed up), but since I no longer run a stock ignition I have no way to verify this either way. I apologize if I've asked this before, I'm just looking for a way to manually hook up the enrichener on a stock carb running a non-stock ignition module, but I dont want to burn out the enrichener if it doesnt have power all the time.
Thanks

Next time I'm doing my ignition thing, I'll give it a check.

Does the enrichener get voltage all the time?

I've asked and havent gotten an answer. The repair manual indicates it doesnt get voltage all the time, but since I no longer run a stock ignition module (which supplies the power to the enrichener) I cant check it. In theory it doesnt need power after the engine is warm but, . I've been trying to get someone to check this for some time now. If we know whether it does get power all the time, then the enrichener could just be hard wired to a switch or constant power.

Sorry, this doesnt help you though!

I am going to say it receives voltage all the time based on what the service manual states in my 2002 book. page 4-23, figure 4-23, auto-enrichener operation. If I have time to get into my bike Friday, I will check mine. I have a TPS and an ignition module issue so my bike may not be the best to verify proper operation of the enrichener system. According to my tests my TPS and ignition module are bad, but the bike still runs. I will probably just unhook the TPS and let the ignition module default to max advance, but that is another topic...
