Hi. I am in the market for a new or used Blast for the G/F.

Any years to avoid if I buy used?

Thanks!!

nope!

They are all good.

Basiclly the same except for the 2000,
The rear pulley and drive belt should have been recalled, and it has an extra tie bar at the upper left side of the cylinder head which is an added bonus. The pre 2002 models have a paper rocker box gasket that will leak, but is an easy changeout, $16 and about an hour and a half if you go slow.
I just did one Tuesday.

Also...don't ever ride it yourself, stay away.

`03 and up had no recalls and the other issues were resolved by then. `00 - `02 are fine as long as the few little things were taken care of - ie the sproket recall and the upgraded gasket.

Like Swampy said, whatever you do - don't ride it yourself... Pretty soon you'll forget you even own a uly.

Thanks guys!
I did a 16 mile demo ride on one last Saturday (official demo day at California HD.) Seems like the Blast is the best kept secret in motorcycling.
I got there at 2:00 pm and the Blast hadn't even been run all day.
I had a ...Blast! Truly an amazing machine. My G/F is interested and we'll probably seek one out real soon. Thanks for the info!!
