...and yet not one picture of the only Blast that was actually legal to run in the " 500cc singles" class.

Lest it not be misunderstood as bitterness, my point is you dont need to convert to an XB or tuber frame, or change your wheels, swingarm and front forks to go racing a Blast!

LOL, both of you!
Actually, both streetBlast and raceBlast are yellow for visibility. The street bike better to be seen and the race bike so I can see which bike it is on the track!

PS Ask Sycho about the crankcase spark plug! lol!

Patches: If you look very closely at the coil (behind the fuel filter) you'll see a secondary spark plug wire going to the case. Thats for the crankcase spark plug. Since this is a race engine the tolerances are very loose and fuel escapes past the rings on the compression stroke. So during the power stroke it compresses the fuel in the crankcase and the secondary spark plug ignites the fuel in the crankcase and acts as a secondary power stroke forcing the piston back up towards the cylinder head during the exhaust stroke for more power........

.
Or wouldnt it be nice if it did!
When I installed the Screamin Eagle twin ignition I couldnt find a single terminal coil with the correct ohm rating. So I installed a twin coil in the meantime and grounded the second spark plug wire to the case!!
But I had to jerk Sycho's chain a little when he asked about it!

and thanks.

Thats beautiful - lol - running a dual hole timing cup then, where did you put the secondary spark on the cup - a rough degree area?

I seen the spark-plug wire going to the Crank Timing Inspection plug. I just wandered if it had any real usable effect on performance burning off by-pass gases since it is a small engine. I didn't think you could keep it from fouling with a constant oil bath. I understand the race engine the tolerances are loose for less friction equals more horse power.
Have you thought about machining the Head to run Duel-Plug if it would help with the type combustion chamber your using? If any added performance is worth the cost of machining the head?

Thanks for the info.

I'm still pulling your leg....The tolerances are stock and thats just a stud in the engine case. Since the Blast engine is an underpowered XB engine, you can really twist it up without much worry towards tolerances or oiling (Blast uses an XB oil pump too).
I'll go dual plug as soon as I have the money. While some sources say it doesnt add any power and really isnt necessary, more spark is more spark and in my experience it really helps with starting and response. I believe its worth the money.
A crankcase mounted spark plug would probably burn the oil and fry the bearings (I dont doubt that it could be made to work though).

As far as the twin timing cup, I'm pretty sure I followed the directions from Twin Tech on making a cup to use their ignition on the Blast (posted in the ignition module section). The second hole is where it would be if the Blast was a twin XL or XB and would fire on the missing cylinder compression stroke. You also now use the 2 advance dots for static timing instead of the TDC mark on the flywheel. Its the budget way to get a good ignition and 7500 rpms. The SE module was about $120 new!

Thank you Swampy, that made me LMAO

"That Harley-Davidson has finally stopped producing this deadly training motorcycle is a cause for relief—but what the Motor Company will replace it with is anyone’s guess. It can only be assumed that this deadly little bike will continue to be used in Rider’s Edge until a replacement bike manufactured by the Parent Company or one of its subsidiaries such as MV Agusta is found."

But who'd have thought they were dangerous?! Thanks Styxn'!
A somewhat biased article loosely based in fact. Some people SHOULD NOT ride motorcycles, period. Obviously if they crashed into a wall then more training was needed!
I love the fact that he linked HD buying Buell to the single fact that they wanted to produce an entry level bike without their name on it. The sole reason they bought Buell LOL!
Though I havent kept up with the chatter elsewhere on Badweb (and I dont intend too), I'm still wondering if there will be a 2011 KILLER Blast.
