Howdy, Sycho! I come perusing every now and then : )

Crackhead, I think it might have been some water from the old gas I put in it (BF told me it was at least 4 years old - who keeps stuff that long?!).

So someone mentioned "Don't cube me bro!" and after I finished chuckling to myself I started thinking about math. I know it's weird, but what can I say? So I thought to myself, "What's the opposite of cubing something?" (since my Blast is as yet uncubed) As I know you're all well aware, it's the cube root. So I had an idea for a new graphic, decal, T-shirt, whatever, that expresses my desire to remain uncubed. Here's my 1st idea to get you other Blasterds thinking. I'd love to see some other ideas from the more artistic and creative peeps out there. Now that the Blast is just so damn cool that EB can't even stand it, maybe we should start an ultra-exclusive Blast club called the Cube Roots?

If there's a more appropriate place to post this, please feel free to move it.

Don't forget the irony. The Blast was the roots of the XB series.

Jardine Exhaust update: Exhaust has been on bike for 1 year, give or take a month or two. Wednesday i noticed a crack in the weld and pipe at the lower front mount. I have the stock hardware inplace. Went to get that fixed and as i pulled into the 3rd place to ask if they could weld the pipe, my bike got REAL loud all of a sudden. Pulled in and looked down and the can had broken off at the inlet side, right near the can. luckily the guys i brought it to got me in quick and on my way.

Something like this with an emblem on the front with P3 under the cube root sign?

GOOD NEWS!!! I found the cord to get the pictures from my cell phone to my computer and thusly to all of you... Bad news... While running late to the first day of class last friday, I grabbed the clutch to downshift as I made a turn, and felt a gut wrenching snap. As I slowed to a stop and prayed that it wasn't what I thought is was, I killed it trying to get into neutral, a few quick flips of the now flaccid clutch handle told the awful tale... My clutch cable had given up the ghost and I was now late and stuck in a not-so-great neighborhood... So after being without my beloved Blast! for almost seven days waiting on a $27 and change part, I'm considering the unthinkable, RENTING A HARLEY... I feel so dirty but I'm really jonesin' for a fix here!!! So, long story short, I got it towed to a MUCH safer place and ordered the new cable and as soon as it gets in, I'll get it all installed and adjustificated and give the old girl a bath and post some naughty pics for all of you guys to see! But meantime its only a couple hundred bucks to rent a V-rod or Soft Tail for a day. Decisions, decisions...

How many miles? The hardware was new for the new pipe right - lol - probably not, still it should be a year or three more, Scott and my time on a similar header has been around 6 years, welded once, about 45,000 on it now - if you don,t mind battle scars, welding is inexpensive.

I remember when my clutch cable went. I went ahead and rode it home because I was too poor to do anything else. If you thought that CLACK! going into first gear was bad, shifting clutchless was much worse! Had to find neutral for the red light, kill the engine, drop it into 1st, then start in gear when the light turned green. I've had lots of practice with cars, but they have room between gears, so this was a bit more, um, violent is the only word that comes to mind.

Maybe I'll just go ahead and replace my cable. How hard is it to do, anyway?

Water in the gas tank sounds very plausible (from an earlier post), but that was not the case for me.

Tin foil hat group? Many years ago I met a guy on an old gold wing (he was on the goldwing) who had his helmet covered in tin foil "to prevent the radio waves from entering his head". He also claimed that the radio towers were causing "the brake fluid to boil in his calipers"
That wasnt someone you know was it Swampy?

Rainman, Like everything else on the Blast, if you have basic hand tools and a maintenance manual, you can do just about anything... Since I will have the left foot peg off, I'm gonna do a primary fluid change while I'm at it... But Erik is right... If it ain't broke, you'll end up fixing it until it is.

GROUP HISTORY: The little P3 Blast by Buell, was the inspiration for our Two Previous Groups, both of which were Hacked and Hi-Jacked, the last on April 30, 2005...But we rebuilt from the ashes, and now our NEW archives are bigger than before. PS: Ed-Z, is a Brain Fried A-Hole, who devotes his life to Spiking the Blast flavored "Kool-Aid" he peddles, BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS !

Ralph's a prophet? I think I'll go to hell - lol - no love for the guy that helped him rebuild his group that he let get hacked twice. Definitely turning into a bitter old guy syndrome type person.

It goes to show you - no good deed goes unpunished. Right now he's tickled pink about the cubing, and can't figure out why people are leaving his group, yet the other Blast boards are busier than ever. I think he's pissed cause I so easily refuted him in the Blastphemy section - don't matter, he's always pissed - least on line. However, I found that prophet line to be totally funny! All I've ever done is pass on my layman's understanding of one motorcycle - and I get false prophet status - well I guess that would be a step up from high priest - so did I get promoted? I thought BADWEB took care of all that, what with the young female groupies, gratuities, and such.

Ahhh well - life goes on!

Were there really any other Blast forums?

Any that have had such a clear and concise format, clearly organized topics, allowing INFORMATION to be desemenated freely to those wanting questions answered?

I couldn't sleep this morning so I took some pictures across Silver Lake at the sand dunes. I could hear the waves of Lake Michigan crashing on the beach on the other side of the dunes.

The wind was howling all day yesterday so I swam in the big waves of Lake Michigan at sunset last night. A bunch of people came down to watch as the sun was setting, I think I had the best view from in the water, the sunset being blocked out by the waves then coming back again. My soulmate took some pictures with her camera but I can't find it at this early hour.

Today the weather is supposed to be sunshine and 74, but from my view I think I am going to have to wait awhile for it.

What it the deal with the Blast? Is it being discontinued or what? I wonder what bike the people who teach the Rider Edge program will use when the Blast dry up. I wonder if it will drive the price up of the used blast?

Gater,
Welcome to the Thumper Forum.
You need to be on here more frequently to find out what is going on with the Blast.
No offence but this is like so last week....

The Blast is still being produced, it just won't say Buell on them. It is being produced for Riders Edge. New ones will be available, just not easy to get, ask Maggie. Old Riders Edge Blasts will more than likely be sold to the public at discount, just like they are now.

Beautiful pics Swampy, It's getting to be dune riding season down here in the southwest Gotta get the Kawi out of storage and ready. BUT, yesterday I got the new clutch cable installed and adjusted, adjusted the clutch, changed the primary fluid, and cussed alot at the footpeg. Now, I'm curious, with the cable installed directly into the case, is it advisable to use a cable lube? I'm concerned about contaminating my new quart of Mobil-1. (Not to mention the clutch pack and stator.)

Get that graphite bicycle cable lubrication from your local bike shop. I believe that's what the user's manual recommends.

Gater, there's a lot of good reading on the main board about the Blast Cube. Go find it and check it out. I think that was the most active thread this board has ever had, but I might be wrong.

Hmmmm... it's really hard to tell from the video, but my money is that NOTHING on that Blast was stock... look at where the rear tire was in relation to the rider, and at 39 seconds I think I see what looks like 2 frame spars coming from the steering head... not exactly a stocker. Good news is that I can't see a second exhaust pipe, which makes it BAD@$$! But with the stretched wheelbase, I bet it handles like poop... To each his own I suppose. I would like to see the time slip... and meet the guy that piloted it so that I might shake his hand, anyone who can dump the clutch on the rev limiter is OK by me! And also thanks Reuel, with the amazing resource that the BadWeB is I had forgotten that I had access to the service manual.

Not big on the 515 kit:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/280643.html?1247616374
I know at least 3 that didnt last more than 1000 miles. Dont know why, but at this point it looks like a piston design fault. If you buy, ask questions!

PS That Blast is sooo stock. Doesnt yours sound like that?
(not much on that Blast is stock)

HEY! There's another video on the bottom of the screen that has the bike on the return road, seems to be closer and better quality. Hmmm... for $15.00 I can run mine at the speedway during Test and Tune. Do I dare take on the 15 second, wheelie bar equipped, slicks shod Yamaha Banshee??? (BTW, thats a true story, there is one of those in Las Vegas some people's kids...

Cool pics Swampy - miss Michigan already and honestly, don't know when I'll get back up that way, the wild west is calling to me!

You are right, the Blast was hard to come by, but well worth it. Foot Stool, coffee table, whatever you want to call it, I'll keep on riding them as long as possible.

Say, has anyone used those ceramic balancing beads? I am going to try them on my next rear tire, which is on order now. The last tire I put on before summer trip had more weights put on it than I've ever seen and it is just plain ugly. From what I have read, the ceramic beads are supposed to provide the best balance, longer tire life, smoother ride, bla, bla, bla

Anyone out there use 'em before?
