Loren, Thanks for that. I will be looking forward to hearing how these hold up under "field testing" in comparison to the OEM part. |

Here's what I'm going to try to reduce front isolators from failing so often. I knocked up these isolator stiffeners last night. I realise they may or will increase the vibrations in the bike but I can live with that

Jodie? Are you having rear isos failing????? Jramsey has an interesting idea relating to the front iso and the infamous head mount breakage As usual, first class workmanship! ( it would not do to have You and James on the same continent as we would have some folks with the means and talent to make some seriously cool stuff ) |

Joesbuell: Te new right and left isolators will last and stand the test as my wife and "i" weight 500 pounds plus and have had no failures ... Those aluminum insert isolator stiff'ners will make your BUELL vibrate like a old solid mounted engine SPORTSTER ... Tried them years ago before the right and left isolators came out ... It was making my BUELL vibrate apart !!! These things were made up to tighten up the engine in ROAD RACE BUELLs ... |

No jim my rear isolators are not failing, It's the fronts. My theory behind this is to limit the for and aft movement on the front isolator. Yes I know it will increase vibs but I want to try it out and see what develops Rear isolators are cheap so if it destroys them I have a spare set |

Jodie, I'm going to reiterate what lafayette stated, those things will make you're teeth fall out. I used them for about 2,000 miles, and wish I hadn't. The rears may be cheap but they aint fun to replace. I put 'em in to ease my lady's mind. She didn't like looking behind her and seeing the tire floating back and forth. She never mentioned it again after I installed them, but I think she forgot all about the rear tire... |

G'day Corey did ya get ya mag? how tight or loose in the isolators did your stiffeners fit? |

Jodie: An interesting twist on the thinking, how did the experiment with the automotive snubber go still thinking on that? Jramsey has an Idea for a floating front down tube that will eliminate the broken head mounts and may require a different isolator ( read stronger ) |

Jodie-not yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting it's arrival-especially after the pics you sent. they were pretty tight, I may still have them around, I know I have the isolators. If I do I can slap em in and take a pic, or get you some dimensions if you like. |

Jim I'll try this first, It's easy enough to take out the stiffeners if I don't like the outcome! Plus I'm going to make a tool to do the isolator removal with out the usual bike tear down, should be able to do isos in around 40 minutes....I hope I have also thought of a new mount system but requires welding my frame! Not to happy about messing the powder coating up just yet. It will make the front mount similar to the later H/D's and use the new front iso were the engine sits on the mount instead of hanging from the iso, if you know what I mean. Corey you and Erik are the only ones left to get your mags I belive, we had to order more! I just wanted to know how they fit mate you say snug mine are an easy slip in fit. No need to measure Corey. Cheers Jodie |

FYI they may not go in and out so easy once pressed in between the frame, I ended up removing the isolators in order to get them out. Might be able to save a headache by machining an groove into the inside surface where the bolt goes(hope that made sense) |

Hey guys I replaced my front ISO yesterday and I have a gap between the Dwasher and the top of the rubber exactly like Gowindward. I'm wondering if I put it back together right. There were 2 round washers and I could swear one was on top of the ISO under the Dwasher. it settles into the "counterbore" on the underside of the dwasher causing a flat surface. the metal sleeve the bolt runs through sticks up further than the rubber causing that gap. should the round washer go somewhere else letting the sleeve settle up into that counterbore in the Dwasher? I know I'm not describing it well but do you guys know what I'm talking about? |

BUELLers: Was looking through my ISOLATOR "INFO" and found: Drag Specialties has a FRONT ISOLATOR LIMITER for "BIG TWINS" that will retro-fits to the BUELL set-up to limit the force's on it ... The part number is DS243535 ... They also have a equiveale}nt better quality 16207-79? that also retro-fits to your BUELL ... MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!! |

Jeff no washer under the D washer mate, 1 washer goes between the front engine mount and the underside of the isolator and the other is on the bolt. Hope that makes sense? The D washer in the picture below is from an S1 so I'm not sure if it is the same, as it looks like its mounted the wrong way around! just make sure the receased side is facing down. Cheers Jodie

Moved out from California to Missouri this week riding the 2000 X1 2500 miles the whole way. The front isolator took a dump out at the Kansas state line. But, this was the third front isolator i've gone through in a calender year. I went to the local shop for a replacement... Part L0501.2 or L1501.T. (one was for the tubers & big twins, the other was for the blast) Both parts looked the same (the one for the blast came with additional hardware), but looked differently from the one I mounted 2 months ago. The part at the dealership had a flat top/bottom? with a washer incorperated into the design with no need for the original D-washer? The part no longer states "top" from bottom anymore. Has anyone had any experience with this newer part? and is it the correct piece? (Message edited by sfmc_x1 on June 25, 2009) |
