Where did you get that ignition cover? I like that! |

Custom. You can get one from the Buell Racing catalogue. Even comes with a blinky red light. A 'lil bling for the blast! |

This is what my engine sounds like cold. Before I attempt to adjust the idle I wanted one more opinion. I'll post another video later. When the bike is warmed up, I'm hearing a strange squeak or rattle coming from the left side. I thought it was the shifter or kick stand but holding on to those makes no difference. If this sound file does not sound good enough I'll take some HiFi recordings this weekend. |

It sounds like a Blast! Try the HiFi recording. To me, it sounds normal, but mine's obnoxiously thumpingly loud, so I don't remember what it's supposed to sound like. Maybe it's making a bit much noise that might be attributable to the primary thingy being a bit too tight. |

The high pitched erratic pinging noise didn't come through on the recording well. But it turns out it was both main foot pegs. If I hold them it goes away. Is there anyway with rubber washer or something to stop them from clanging like that while it's warming up? As far as the rest of the engine sound, it wasn't lugging very bad when I made that. Sometimes it lugs so bad it keeps dying but after it warms up it runs very smooth. I wish I could make the auto enricher stay in fast idle just another minute or so. |

Adjust your idle mixture screw out about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn. |

Looks like it would be hella in the way. I would be afraid that I would knock it and my carb off with my leg |

Thats a great point. Shopping sucks. I havnt seen anything small though, and i dont have mad skills like most of you guys who build your own intake. maybe i will have to sacrifice some comfort to get this done. |

Really, it could be as easy as a K&N filter on top of a 2" piece of tubing. Have you looked at EZ's stock airbox mod? |

I heard about it briefly, but haven't seen it or heard anything about how to do it or were to get the parts. |

Just finished adjusting the idle. That seems to have done the trick! Strange enough the plug was already gone. I also noticed that the ring that holds the air box against the carb is crack in each of the holes that the bolts go through. It was only an issue on the 9 o'clock hole as the screw pulled completely through the ring. I'm going to have to order another one. Anyone have the part number for it on a 2000? I can't test ride it for a few days because it's pouring rain till Thursday here, but as far as idle after the autoenricher it's running great. The only thing left is the pegs. At fast idle it they just make a horrible racket. Does anyone have any tricks for shutting them up? |

Same number as the rest of the Blasts - your pully was the only real difference - and the extra heim joint - the rest of the numbers are the same or an upgrade from yours. EZ |

I may end up having to back the screw out a bit more. I was thinking... that it may be possible to drill a hole in the air box so that you would only need to take the cover off in order to adjust the mixture screw. When done you could just put a dab of silicone in the whole, which could be peeled out for future adjustments. Or would this be ill advised? |

I'm confused. It's been a while since I had my air box. Is it really in the way of that screw? Being in the way is the biggest reason I got rid of mine. Any time I did anything, I had to move it! I have to be able to switch between my ignition and the stock ignition a lot when I'm doing my stuff, and that was the biggest part of the job. |

Yup... I thought about removing the air box, but after seeing how it's installed I can tell it's designed to take take up the weight of the carburetor off "das boot". That's where the idea of drilling a hole in the air box came in. |

I do have to keep the clamp a bit tighter than I like. I've been negligent in the past, which caused an air leak, which then caused backfiring, which then caused the carburetor to come off and punch me in the leg. I tightened the clamp and it was fine. I have a spare boot and a screwdriver with me most of the time. Some day, I may put springs on it like Ed has. |

Hi all, I posted this in another place and I didn't receive a response so I'm re-posting it here. Thanks! I want to replace my intake system. Preferably, I want to remove the intake box altogether and only have the air filter as I like the "naked" look. Reading a bunch of posts leads me to believe that I should probably have the ProSeries air filter installed. Does it come with the elbow? And, it seems that I need to have it braced (springs) -although there is some debate on this point. With this mod I should have the carb rejetted to 45/175 (I have a V&H pipe). thanks!!!! thump thump thump |

Only problem is the ProSeries is discontinued, and about impossible to find. |

Hey Blastlvr, If you can find a Pro-Series intake for the Blast, buy all you can, because they are no longer made. The way to go is either modify you stock air box or go with a velocity stack like Ezblast uses on his. If you remove your stock air box you will(may) need to devise a way to support your carburetor to keep from tearing the boot. |

That's sad... Isn't there another cone filter set-up I can use? I'm not sure if I should go with the stack. hmmm... Thanks again! |

The Pro-Series stack intake is easy to recreate - and in fact the first where designed and created here independently before them - check the carb sections top section for links to their design - not hard at all and actually a bit better looking than the pro series - especially with the carb vacuum intake mod - carving a bit extra space around it - upping its efficiency - I'd say lighter and more practical as well if spring braced - A stack is a responsibility as premium breathing - meaning the filter must be kept clean and un-torn - always have a back up and careful with the leg or knee - lol - but its worth it to me. The last Pro Series I saw for sale was on E-Bay and it sold for STUPID money. I found one at a Dealership in New York. If you have unlimited free long distance for your phone you may be able to find one too...I called something like 32 dealerships before I found one. Good Hunting. |
