Court you said in an earlier post.
>>>>Are you people insinuating that Harley salesmen are less than wonderful?

Let me put a stop to this immediately.

Blaming Harley-Davidson for Buell sales shortcomings is both wrong and short sighted.

I know tons of Harley-Davidson dealers who I'd rank as "great" who have absolutely no interest in Buells. These are good people and great Harley-Davidson sales people.

The difference I think that most posters are saying is that the Harley dealers in question are more order takers rather than salesmen. If you arent ordering I dont have time to waste with you.

The waiting lists are no longer 1-3 years. Now they will have to sell ( something new to most)to keep someone from going down the road to pick out their purchase.

Austin Buell is right on top of it. They had stand-up card signs on all the counters and were very helpful (as always). Central Texas H-D/Buell was the same! No problems. Man it sucks to have two dealerships that actually care about Buell in the same town!

Jose

Why a Dallas Cowboy Star?

It is the same star on the streetfighter shirt.

Good grief. First off, the star on the Buell hat ain't the Dallas Cowboy's star, which has a triple (white/blue/white) outline like so...

and/or the head of a cowboy superimposed over it...

Secondly, the Dallas Cowboy's star honors the Texas Lone Star which is direct kin to the stars on the flag of the United States of America which happen to be configured exactly like the Buell hat's star.

So please be well assured that by wearing the Buell hat with a star on it in tribute to the United States of America, you are in no danger of expressing support for the Dallas, Texas football team. So please wear your new Buell lone star hat proudly! : )

It's still ugly. In fact I have yet to see one piece of clothing that Buell sells that I would wear! I can't wait till they come up with something that's not Blue. No offense Buell designers, I'm sure it's just my personnel taste.

Thumbs up to Chandler (AZ) HD/Buell. Walked in and went straight to the customer service counter. The rather attractive young lady at the desk (Chandler HD seems to hire quite a few of them) not only knew what I wanted before I asked (guess she saw the printout) she had one brought out to me within a minute or so.

To make my visit better, there were at least a dozen new Buells lined up near the front of the store, with a half dozen used ones prominently displayed right outside the front door. I asked the sales type (who'd brought my hat) whether they were stocking the new S-model saddlebags. "I don't think we have any yet, but I'm pretty sure they're on order." Then he verified with the parts mgr that there were a few sets on the way, along with the new trunk and tank bags, and let me reserve them with nothing but my business card...they'll call me when they arrive.

Sorry for rambling, but I had to share a positive experience. All the employees with whom I spoke knew about the new products, etc., seemed enthusiastic about the Buell line, and a couple even reminded me to come back for the test ride/sling bag promotion...even though they know I just bought an XB12S in the Fall and am not really in the market for a newer one. (One even followed me out to the parking lot because he'd seen the truck stacks on my Valk and wanted to hear them.) There ARE some good dealers out there, folks. I guess I got lucky the one closest to me appears to be in that list.

I also had a positive hat experience today, went with a friend to a different Buell dealer to get his free hat. I had never been to Zylstra HD in Elk River, MN before. They had the Buell hat sign on the front door, and the front desk person knew about it and pointed us to the service desk where they had one instantly. Better yet, while browsing the Buell clothing the nice woman (who was really trying to sell us a Harley leather jacket!?) had good things to say about Buells and raved about how their manager and a few other employees ride Buells and love them. We felt quite welcome there, not like only one or two people in the store actually knew what a Buell was.

Good to hear other positive experiences.

Now back to the star (keep in mind this is just for fun)

If I remember correctly , the star in the streetfighter shirt is BLACK.

Had the star on the hat been just a white outline of a BLACK star, nobody would confuse it with anything else.

The fact that it's BLUE with a WHITE outline is close enough to the Cowboys star to cause confusion with people who don't particularly like that football team, and there are a bunch of those people around here.

I like the hat, I'll wear it (not as much as my Mike Ciccotto autographed Hal's Hat) but I fully expect people to ask me "since when did you become a Cowboy's fan?"

Resume positive dealership experiences...

Since my Utah dealer doesn't partake of the Buell promos, I have a plan. Soon I will be taking a business trip to Jacksonville, Mobile, Memphis & the Queen City (Cincinnati). Ok not much of a plan but I will check the Buell dealers in those cities for a hat. Wonder if any of them would hold one back?

I had a lukewarm Hat/Buell Dealer experience today. I went into Skip Fordyce in Riverside to redeem my coupon. I have never been into this dealership before.

Usually, I'll go the extra miles to the Excellent dealer in Glendle, or I'll hit up the local dealer, Pomona Valley HD. Well, Pomona Valley did not order more Buells, and was informed that if they did not order Buell motorcycles, that they are not Buell dealers. They had 48 hours to remove all Buell merchandise from their premesis, and to get the Buell sign off their building. Personally, I don't have a problem with this, if you're not selling the bikes than you are not a dealer.

Back to Skip Fordyce. Nice looking building, a City-X in front of the main enterance, and an XB12 in a windowbox. Good sign so far. Walking through the dealership there was on lone Blast! on the floor, and nary another Buell motorcycle or accessory to be seen. Not so good a sign. There is a little receptionist counter with two "Cures helmet head" posters on it, so I present my coupon to the receptionist. She was polite, but confused, she didn't know anything about the hats depite having two posters on the desk she is sitting at! She calls over to another employee, MisterX, who says, oh yeah, those are in SoandSo's office. The receptionist gets SoandSo out of his office with a hat, Soand So walks up, hands the hat to MisterX, who hands the hat to me and proceeds to ignore me.

For me, mision accomplihed, I now have my hat. For the dealership, not so good. They will likely never have a custemer in me. There we no hello's, handshakes, small talk, or giving of buisness cards. Very little communication. Heck, I wouldn't have to use alias' if they had taken 5 minutes out of their day to talk motorcycles with me and give me a buisness card. It's a sad thing that Buell gave this dealerhip a chance to make a customer out of me, and they blew it. It just shows me that the dealer need help in basic salemanship. I will come back to test ride a bike, and give the dealership another chance. In the meantime Glendale will get all my Buell and HD buisness.

James

"If I remember correctly , the star in the streetfighter shirt is BLACK."

The star on my streetfighter shirt is
Blue without a white outline
Maybe they are phasing out the pegasus logo and phasing in the star.

Just a thought Tim

Stopped in at Suburban Harley/Buell in Thiensville, WI on Friday afternoon. Sales guy, old hard core biker type image, said he wasn't sure where the hats were after we had spoke a bit about other stuff. He went up to the receptionist and sent some guy there looking for them. The go-fer guy came back a few moments later and said the hats were being kept back in the parts area. Sales guy grabbed a phone call as I went to parts to get a part and a hat. No problems at all.

The hard core biker looking sales guy, by the way, is Buell friendly. He doesn't ride a Buell, but he does like them.

House of Harley also had the hats. The receptionists at the front counter didn't know what we were talking about, but the sales person did. They even gave CJ one : )

On Saturday I went to Big Moose HD in Portland Maine as it was along the way. Mostly I have had very positive experiances there. I walked up to the counter and spoke with the young lady there about the promotion. she took my print out and said thank you. I said when do I get the hat. she pointed to my head (I was wearing an older Buell hat.) I told here that it was a newer hat like the one in the picture. clearly she was not into the Buell thing. the other lady behind the counter told her she had to get the hats from Pete the buell sales guy. She ran off brought hat back. I asked to see the XB12SCG they had on the web sight. Both ladys said oh down back. (There is a Buell display at the entrance with a couple of XB9s a city x and a 12r.
I went down back asked to see the bike and was told they did not have one. I asked if theyt had sold it and was told they never had one. I informed them that they should remove it from the web site. now two sales guys were there and they asked where I had seen it and maybe i was mistaken. I showed them on their computer where it was. They tried to tell me that the picture was actually of a XB12R and the web people had mislabled it. I asked why it had an S type fly screen. Pete the Buell guy was called and he came back there. He swore up and down that he had never seen that bike and that it was a mistake. One of the newer sales guys came over and asked what was going on. He said oh I think it is out in the warehouse. They handded him the keys and with a knowing smile said I dont think so but take him out there to check. Low and behold back in the corner a very clearly labled red XB12SCG big as life. I thanked him for his efforts and got his card. If I buuy my bike from them guess who I will ask for in sales.

Steve,
Just curious, but how many new Buells did House have on display? I haven't been to their new building yet.

MikeJ, that had about few various XBs, an XB12SCG, a used M2, a used S3T that they've had for about a year. But like many HD dealers, didn't want to really help ya unless you're looking at a soft-tail.

They also did have the Vrod-streetrod thingy IIRC, as does Hal's. I was the 1st one to sit on the Street Rod at Hals, as I was there when they rolled it in to the showroom, signing the wife up for Rider's Edge course. Pretty comfy IMHO.

The sad part was there were LOTS of people in House Of harley, but no bikes, but our 5 Buells outside.

Hal's at least had two or three bike ridin' customers. But a group of 4 or 5 "instabikers" were outside. Staring at our 4 Buells pull up at once : )

My friend informed me of a not-so-good experience with Zylstra in Ames, IA. Him and a friend both took in their forms and asked about a hat, about fifteen minutes later somebody told them that they hadn't received their hats yet................every dealer I know of has had the hats for about 3 weeks prior to the promotion, so.........yeah.

(this was not me, it was really a friend that does not post here, and that was the story that I was told)
