Very few bikes could be compared to this model and have it be apples to apples. The price alone (estimated 44,995 i believe?) doesn't even make it a consideration for 80% of the riders out there. Though I hope for that price it blows the limited competition out of the water! I've been waiting for this bike to come to fruition. Will definitely have the attention of the bike collectors out there.

It's a pretty bike. I hope it runs as well as it looks. It's about time that someone in this country makes a true performance custom, and not just another chopper.

Cool bike.They even dialed 1-800-BREMBO!

We've all been told the V-Rod engine is too heavy/bulky for such an application from Erik though.Wonder how it'll work?

If I remember correctly, it's going to be supercharged in the Roehr. Naturally, that means it won't qualify for any racing class that I can think of. Just a "Rich Man's Toy" like the Ducati Desmosedici, or the MV Agusta F4CC.

I'm pulling for the guy. If I had a big chunk of money, I would probably want one. I would sure be more likely to spend my cash on that than something from OCC. I hope the current state of our economy doesn't mess with his plans.

He has gotten farther than a lot of other attempts at manufacturing a new American bike. Even if he only made one limited production run it would be impressive.

I can't wait to read a full test.

The engine in that is the Revolution engine used as is used in the V-Rod, at least as a starting point.

it is neat to see such a bike be built but for that price you could go and buy any sport bike currently in production wheather it be a 1125r, a duc, gsxr or what ever and put all the ugrades you want on it like brakes and shocks and still have money left over to go buy an extra bike of the same kind in case you reck that one.

Once you get a pre-production motorcycle, and we'll assume for the moment that its's perfect, you are 7% of the way to going into business as folks like John Britten, the Hanlons and other learned.

I'm a huge fan of these guys and I confess to reliving a lot of the fascination of remembering what Erik Buell and the Elves went through.

They actually give you a guy for that price, you just have to agree to feed him and make sure he's in after dark.

So is HD or an HD dealer selling them engines? Or are they buying V-Rods as donor bikes? Most likely a minor detail as there is probably only one bike built.

I sincerely hope he makes it. Bang for the buck is a matter of volume. Build a one of a kind gigantic piece of butt jewelry, and you can charge $500,000 for it. Build 25 units and you can charge $100,000 as collector's items. Build 100 units, and you can sell them for $50,000 as limited edition items. Build 10,000 units and sell them for $10,000 each, and it becomes a boutique item. Build 100,000 units and sell them for $7,500 and they become a commodity.

I expect Roehr to live somewhere between the limited edition and boutique realms if he is able to survive as a manufacturer.

We all know, though, that no manufacturer can do anything good starting with a less than perfect motor and building a quality motorcycle around it. ; )

It'll be an extremely long shot, but stranger things have happened.

Mr. Roehr is a very approachable guy. He's up there with Erik Buell. Shoot him an e-mail with any questions you may have. I'll bet he answers you within the day.
I asked him the last time this thread showed up about an agreement with H-D. There is none, and he doesn't see one (or didn't at that time, last Summer) happening either. That's one reason the bike is so expensive.
He's a great guy, he's very excited about the bike. Reminds me of another very approachable guy I know.

I think that this is great that Mr. Roehr has gotten this far, I wish him all the best. I know his bike is expensive but so are all the clone bikes, most of them seem to be in the 25k to 35k range and they don't have near as expensive components as Mr. Roehr's bikes. Plus most of these are coming from overseas that has got to hurt right now.
Does anyone know what an RR1200 or RS1200 would cost in todays dollars I seem to remember when they were new on the show room floor for something on the otherside of $11000.
I shure hope he can produce 501 of them because we would have a chance that a Harley engine would be the worlds fastest production bike. The fastest I can currently find is 203.392 set at El Mirage with a Hayabusa. A production bike with a blower at Bonneville just might have a shot.

If he can get this in the $20K range I would have to think hard but that H2O thing is just a personal hangup I have yet to deal with.But it does look nice, what the 1125 should have looked like.

20k would be more understandable for such a bike. any higher than 20k is not very practical.

I know, apples and grapefruit here, but some of the most tractable, docile, driveable bracket racing cars I've ever driven are low-compression, EFI smallblocks with Procharger centrifugal blowers on them, or one of my own 4-cylinder turbocharged cars. Anything you can sit in rush hour traffic in, with no complaints out of the car and the a/c cranking away, then go to the track and rip off some 10.80s before picking up a pizza on the way home...just fine by me. Boost rocks - there when you need it, fuel economy when you don't.

Best of luck to Mr. Roehr. He's got a nice looking machine there, can't wait to see if he can pull it off. Unfortunately in todays climate...he probably could have picked a more difficult time, but it would be tough to do.
