I've seen an 1125R. And I'm sorry but I have to say this.

I dont like the 1125R.

We all compare cars and bikes to girls so this is how I see it. Barbara Streisands nose, on Margret Cho's face. Set upon Keira Knightley's stick frame body set with Dolly Partons breasts after 10x more silicone than normal. Like everything up front has been enlarged and theres no ass so smack or grab onto. Thats why those cookie cutter choppers sell like McDonalds double cheeseburgers on the dollar menu. Big fat tires in back, stretched and enlarged front end. The chopper for them isn't a penis extension... Its the sexy woman that wants to be abused/beaten and doesn't sass back!
The use of pieces from the other Buells just doesn't sit right with me. I like all of the essentials but the plastics should have been something of their own. The ominous dark color scheme just doesn't fit right either. It should have been more metallic, to some what grab attention and say "Hey this is a M.F. Buell!" Black motorcycles are everywhere... Hell theres 15 black motorcycles on my street, and theres only 13 houses on here, both sides and the ones at the corners. I understand what all has gone into the creation of this bike but a few changes asthetically could have rocked the world so much harder. Erik and the elves as they are so revered as have put years of blood, sweat, tears, cuss words, and man power into this one model. And I'm not saying I'm ungrateful, I love that these people are so passionate about their work. I feel as if the bike has exhausted its presence just as it sets tire on the roads of the world.

Ok I'm ready for my beatings now.

You'll not get one from me.
I don't agree with all of what you say, but a good bit of it.
I'm afraid to say the 1125 doesn't stir me one little bit, just not my cup of tea.

I like the 1125 but I still want a 2008 XB12X.

(That doesn't mean that I won't take one of those out for a test drive though!)

The performance is great, it does what it was meant to do, as for looks, I'd still have a Firebolt. I'll have 1 or the other down the road: )

I'm still on the fence about the looks. When i first saw the xb i didn't care for it, but it grew on me. The performance aspect is what i am anxious about I would love the new motor in tube frame. that would be cool!

Motor bicycles have occasionally been compared to women, and I can certainly appreciate the analogy.

When I look at the 1125R I am perhaps reminded of a girl that doesn't necessarily fit the archetype of today's beauty, but who might have hidden charms, be a wonderful person to live with, and might eventually redefine what "desirable" really meant all along.

Some ladies need more than just a first date, am I right, my brothers?

The 1125 doesn't move me. Doesn't get my juices flowing.

That is why there are other bikes. When it comes time for a new bike and buell doesn't have something that interest me I will move on.

I am not Blinded by brand.

Ah, negatory

My guess the reason existing parts are shared with the 1125 is cost. There is only so much money available for development and the motor probably took a fair chunk of it. Also, the less parts you need to R&D the less you need to recoup and that, in turn, keeps the purchase price down.

After drooling over Bigblock's 1125R for the last half hour I am completely smitten.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that it isn't mine! : )

I can see how some won't like it.
I understand and respect that.
I'm lucky I guess in that I truely dig it.
If it had Kawasaki's name on it or Ducati's I would still like it.

Ninja 636? No thanks. Fast (it is a Kawasaki) bike that handles. If it was not fast no one would buy it though.

I fear that my XB9R has has cured me of any desire for a H2O cooled bike, so the 1125R and any of its ilk are out.

Thank G-d there are many bikes with real cooling fins to pick from out there... tubers, old and current Ducs, Laverdas...and the street legal XBRR I keep lusting for.

Caning? Okay, if I have to! While not your cup o tea it is without a doubt better looking than 70 percent of the plastic fantastic razor edge hyper fast ultra sport bikes out there. Now, that said, lets not forget that this bike (1125r) is the culmination of one mans dream and savvy at building bikes that perform the way they are meant in a real world local. On the racetrack I'm still wondering and waiting. As for me, well, I'm in love with my tuber and remain happily smitten. Thats my 2 cents worth with maybe another penny in for good measure..............happy trails.

The 1125R will NOT appeal to everyone.

FANTASTIC!!!!!!

Big surprise.

Newsflash. BUELLS don't appeal to everyone.

Did you get to ride it? That is the ONLY opinion I want to hear about.

We have all heard from the "I hate the side pods" crowd. The bike is what it is. If it sells, it ain't gonna change. If it doesn't and styling is the reason, it will.

Vote with your dollars. If you hate the looks of it and think it rides like crap, don't buy it. If there are enough people to override your "vote", then you'll be looking at the current styling for the next 5-7 years. How many people derided the underslung muffler, perimeter brake, fuel in frame? How many bikes are beginning to incorporate some of those traits now? I wonder how many will be incorporating better CFD designs into future bikes. How many will be seeking to make the space for the rider that is more comfortable from an airflow standpoint?

My guess is that Buell will sell more of this model than they have any model they have ever made. I would bet that we will be quantifying sales numbers by how many multiples of other models they have sold or how many models combined they have sold.

If not, you might not like the outcome. Erik and crew have spent the better part of 25 years getting to this point. If it fails, I doubt they will get another 25 years to try again. Buell has bet the farm on the 1125R.

You all who glibly and gleefully deride the 1125R, are you excited about Buell having a failure? Will you cheer on as the sales numbers plummet. Will you gladly state "I told you so"?

Your opinion is duly noted. Thanks for sharing.

Not all believe it is ugly. Each person has their own opinion. I have no problem with that.

After the 152nd "The 1125R has giant ugly saggy tits for side pods" thread, it gets a little old. Wait to see what happens.

Tuber folks weren't too excited about the looks of the XBs when they came out either.

Some still aren't. : D

FT_BSTRD I doubt my opinion alone will change the outcome of the entire BMC. I did not wish ill will upon them either. And how dare you misconstrue my words in such a manner. If I'm not mistaken hasn't Erik and Co. received great deals of feed back from this forum? I'm giving my $.02, and I made a suggestion and voiced my opinion. As have you in the past and not once did I ever respond in such a way.

While the 1125R may not be the bike for me, I hope BMC sells every one that they can produce, hope the 1125R proves to be as reliable as an anvil, converts non Buell fans over to our side and maybe win some races along the way.

There is only ONE Erik Buell in the bike world, and I truly hope he finally gets the respect he deserves.

Well, I saw my first 1125R today (outside of pictures I mean). It was not floor ready, though, as it was in the middle of prep. The seats were off, so I still can't say I saw an actual, ready to ride bike. I had heard the dealership had one (from a Yamakawazuki salesman no less) so I hotfooted it over to look. I couldn't find it anywhere, but the sales manager saw me earnestly searching the showroom and asked me what I was looking for. I asked if they had an 1125R. He laughed and said they had three, but they were all sold. In fact, he said they had sold 7, and had 12 ordered for the year. Still, he took me to the back to look at the bike being prepped.

Since the looks are being discussed, this is what I will say; at first glance it is not that great looking to me. I am a Harley guy after all. When I saw the XB12X I thought it was one of the ugliest motorcycles I had ever seen. Funny thing, though, I kind of like the XB12X now. I have a feeling the 1125R will be the same for me. It is different, so I am still getting used to it. Once I do, I am sure I will like it. Honestly though, if I had the money I'd buy one now anyway. Even if the looks aren't beautiful to me. The looks won't matter much while I am riding and enjoying it. Too bad I'm broke.
