I just bought a Banke shifter and brake pedals for a good deal, thanks Blackm2.

Might get a CAD drawing of the shifter and brake today. Yay. : )

This is one that's already produced for some custom HD models, grabbed a quick snapshot of it. They can make it any way I want it, any suggestions? Complexity doesn't seem to matter much, they'll do whatever design I want.

I will definitely go with one that will be a more universal fit, ie; slotted at the front for adjustability. I may be able to cover several models this way.

Here's why. Both the 1125 I had and the 1190 I currently own are like this.

Well, I got to thinking and brainstorming with the machine shop owner, he makes other similar stuff and I remembered the slotted shifter/brake and mentioned it. He said no problem, it's just as easy to do it that way, covers more models. The other thing is for different size feet. Some are small, some are boat sized. The M2 toe pegs are roughly 6" from the foot pegs and are fixed, the slot on the 1190 is 1.5" long, so there's a huge range of adjustment.

No access to a 3D printer?
(I would love to have that myself...)

No, but I have access to a full machine shop where the owner (I assume) likes me and is willing to make just about anything. You should see some of the neat stuff they turn out there. They're getting into the handicapped version of that stand up scooter, some will be given away, if not all of them. I don't recall the name of the non-profit organization, but it's a pretty cool looking little chair.

Updated drawing this morning, still missing the slotted brake pedal though. That will get addressed shortly.

Is bent better functionally than straight?
Or just for looks?

Just for looks. It's not cut yet, just tossing different ideas around.

Brake pedal adjustment slot?
Or a couple of holes to choose from, long and short?

Slotted to allow for a range of adjustment. I'm thinking it will allow for covering more than one model as well people with larger or smaller feet. Put it where you want it and is comfy.

Still don't have a prototype in hand, but they said they were "cutting something up" today. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

In the diagram above, is the brake the top one, and the shifter the bottom two?

The brake looks like it has a single hole for the peg, is what I mean. Maybe you changed it since then

Stock shifter.

Rough template.

Rear brake.

Suggestions, changes, etc? These are just rough cuts. The shifter will have a bearing in it, the brake will most likely be a pressed in bronze or brass bushing like stock. Currently the templates are 3/8" thick aluminum. I can use whatever I want, both for material and thickness.

I'm also thinking maybe do solid foot pegs, knurled aluminum. Yes/no?

For both parts (package deal) it should be under $350 if it all works out. Might even be a hell of a lot less than that. Need to source some bits and pieces still, but overall, it's apparently not that complicated to do. I don't have the threaded connecting rod from the lever to the splined part, the splined kit is about $30 each (I bought 2) from Precision Eng.

Figure the bearing might run $15-20, still need to make the triangle stand-off piece yet. Also needs a bushing for the brake side, I haven't tried sourcing that yet. The heim joints probably aren't all that expensive, relatively speaking. Need those and some threaded coupling rods and nuts. Lots of little bits go into making these I guess.

Buy two because the first time you fall off it'll be done for.

I'd search around to see what toe pegs are "out there"...and machine the slots to take already-existing toepeg mounts.

If steel is possible...go that route. Snarky as Alfau's post was, there is a good point. Steel bends; aluminum snaps.

The prototype parts above are billet, same as the Banke units. I want something similar, but more versatile to cover more models with one part.

That just sounds weird. It was only a parking lot tipover.

These parts look fantastic!

I may have them go with a full polish on them when it's all said and done. They're looking for an excuse to buy a vibratory tumbler anyway, so this may push them over the edge.

Looks like I need to make the shifter bracket a little thicker, maybe 5/8" instead of 1/2". I'll probably change the foot peg diameter as well, the 1/2" post for the brake pedal just doesn't look quite meaty enough to me. I'll see about mounting them this weekend if possible.

Also make sure the shifter bracket fits as it has rounded corners on the engine.

Check the clearance of the clutch cable on the shifter "tower". When I made mine I found I had to groove it a bit.
