Nobody explained it, but the Traction grips have a bit of a barrel shape, the center section is bigger around than either end.

Most grips are constant diameter across their length.

This barrel shape fits a lot of people's hands better. ( I have them on my M2.)

See if you can try them first, you might not like them.

Traction grips are real nice ... I have them on my M2, very comfortable .. When I went to replace the grips on my S1, I wanted something different so I used the Buell Torque grips, (got em on the cheaper side - normally they cost a pretty penny) .. but they are surprisingly comfortable .. not so much as the Traction grips are .. but they do remind me a little of a gel grip, just not quite as soft
If I had to choose, the Traction's...
