True, but that very condensation does the same thing that misting the beans before grinding does, cut down on the dust that sprays from a grinder. ( In open ended types that dispenses the grounds, n/a a closed grinder like the Braun or my blade type Krups. ) It's true you really need liquid Nitrogen temps to get "perfect" storage to both arrest any loss of vapors and flavors, although it hadn't occurred to me the way the brittle, shattering effect of such cold would change how coffee grinds. ( it should have, shattering grapes dipped in liquid Nitrogen is standard classroom demo stuff ) But that's true for pork chops, too. ( the preservation aspect ) Few people can afford a really cold food storage system, and just frozen is the best us peons have available at Costco. ( just watch, next month they'll have cryogenic freezers on sale, just to prove me wrong ) Definitely only pull frozen beans out of the freezer as needed, mildew and mold are generally bad. ( Captain Obvious! ) Honestly I haven't experimented with bean temperatures, I just accepted the logic of keeping whole beans in the freezer along with the frozen pizza rolls. It all may be far too subtle an effect for my uneducated tastes. ******* I second the statement that blade grinders require a manual technique to get good results. If you just load and push the button while it sits on the counter they give lousy results. It reminded me of when two guys I met on the road to Sturgis and I went into the Oasis bar on Main Street. We got some beers and sat at the only seat left in the place. While we were talking I started noticing that everybody behind my friends was a Hell's Angel. I looked behind me and everybody was a Bandito! One of the Angels turned around and welcomed us to Sturgis. He seemed like a nice guy! We didn't stay for a second beer! Usually Sturgis is like neutral ground for the clubs but you never know when some probe is going to prove himself! (Message edited by tootal on October 14, 2021) | ||

Having been in three different MC's, including a 1% club, I was never asked or encouraged to "prove" myself by acting a fool and hauling off and popping someone just because. I was specifically told to be polite and respectful to civilians and to only get in their face if I was disrespected first. I would still be in the 1% club had finances not forced me to exit, it takes a lot of money to be in a national club. The MC world has changed a lot in the last 10-20 years, but stereotypes die hard... | ||

Whisperstealth, your comments may be right on the money. My caution around prospects were based on experiences from both the inside of clubs and doing (legitimate) business transactions with clubs/members - from the outside. But, what aligns with your comments is that the experiences I’m mentioning are at least 15 years old. You’re probably right (and hopefully right) that the bad perceptions about prospects are now nothing more than stereotypes. | ||

I know I spent far, far more time picking up cigarette butts for all three clubs than I ever did looking for trouble. The clubs I were with had a thing about leaving an area cleaner than when we got there. One of them was a Sober Club comprised of recovering alcoholics and addicts. I'm not saying it's all roses and sunshine, but things really have changed for a number of clubs. The days of having no job, living off the club, and starting trouble everywhere you go are fading fast. It's still there in small bits and pieces, but nowhere near the level it once existed. | ||

A few years after I was in the Oasis I heard that there was a gunfight between clubs which was started by prospect. That's what the news said, I wasn't there. I can't remember if it was in the Oasis but it was on Main St. in Sturgis. But, as you said, this was a long time ago. Things do change. | ||

Finally decided to get a race ECM from Tim at IDS for the Uly. Sent him the Benjamin for the remap 3 months ago and got the donor ECM sent out last week. Swapped it out and it is settling in nicely. Higher cold idle and lower op-temp idle with more grunt, like a new motor. Much less cold-blooded stumbling, lofts the front easier, butt dyno is impressed. Record heat today, time for a fun ride.
