You guys just hate children.

“Like the climate crisis, the coronavirus pandemic is a child-rights crisis,” said Thunberg. “It will affect all children, now and in the long-term, but vulnerable groups will be impacted the most. I’m asking everyone to step up and join me in support of UNICEF’s vital work to save children’s lives, to protect health and continue education.”

Blake, the organisations behind Greta use her because she serves their purpose to instill fear in the public. It's not the first time they have used children for their cause, in the 1990's they used Severn Cullis-Suzuki who said in a speech that: “I am afraid to go out in the sun now because of the hole in our ozone. I am afraid to breathe the air because I don’t know what chemicals are in it." Fear, fear and more fear.

Apparently, Greta has the virus:

Greta Thunberg says it's 'extremely likely' she has had coronavirus
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/24/gret a-thunberg-says-its-extremely-likely-she-has-had-c oronavirus

Patrick, ''Want to guess the percentage of funds actually going to the "cause"? 7%? 2?''

If the ''cause'' is fear-mongering, then I'd say 100% goes to the cause.

That's not true at all. When cooked properly with the right sauce they can be quite delightful!

I won't recommend eating Greta, though. She claims to have the virus. Albeit cooked properly, the virus may be rendered ineffective and the meat rendered tender.

But seriously, higher body temperature is thought to kill the Coronavirus. This post from 2003 mentions the effect of high body temp on the virus:

''Who listens to this crap?''

Scientists and experts.

Greta Thunberg urges public to listen to the experts
Climate activist Greta Thunberg says she thinks more people are beginning to realize the importance of listening to experts and the global science community amid the coronavirus pandemic.

My first foray into older writing was Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal". I made it to being an A.V. guy in the HS library. The librarian was good at reading kids and suggesting material that was interesting. I have wondered about the use of an instant pot for Greta. She is kind of bony.

But, that s just me.

It’s a shame that the moniker “stupid” has been effectively removed from the lexicon when we so desperately need it.

Eat Bugs: New EU Food Policy Promotes Less Meat, More ‘Alternative Proteins’
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/05/23/eu-foo d-less-meat-promote-plant-proteins/

I know, I know, you're probably thinking, ''Eating bugs? That's disgusting!''. But don't worry, there's propaganda underway to change your attitude towards eating bugs:

UN: Let Them Eat Bugs!
https://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/environment/it em/15420-un-let-them-eat-bugs

Quote:

Of course, the UN knows the idea of eating bugs sounds repulsive to most Westerners — it admits as much in the report. The global body and its proponents, though, already have a plan to deal with that. In the UN FAO report, created in partnership with Wageningen University in the Netherlands, the planetary body outlined a giant propaganda campaign that would include “tailored media communication strategies and educational programs that address the disgust factor.”

It will be easy to get volunteers; just have Trump say it's bad and there will be lines of TDS afflicted liberals waiting for a chance to prove him wrong.

Rather than rant on the politics of diagnosis of children to gain Federal Funding and control behavior by drugging the annoying smart ones who ask questions, I'll simply opine that conformity is enforced by drugs, and drugs are accepted in ways that make "Brave New World" look utopian.

Water supply, port control, this isn't science fiction anymore.

Every modern city has a computer controlled water treatment system. I usually think of LA & NYC as desperately water system dependent, but it's a near universal risk.

Taking the NYC case, how many hours of the water being shut off, before every bridge and tunnel becoming a parking lot of crashed and burning cars with panicked crowds filtering through the wreckage to escape?

Safety tip, Avoid tunnels where the air can become unbreathable if the power fails. If not from vehicular traffic, simply the oxygen consumption from hordes of people.

If I get bored, later, I'll calculate the critical mass to consume the oxygen in a typical Hudson river tunnel. But I won't publish it. ( both to avoid ridicule if I figure incorrectly, and inspiring terrorists )

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bridges_an d_tunnels_in_New_York_City

Cities have always been artificial environments. The technology to support millions of people in a small area is staggering, and quite vulnerable.

Talking with actual experts on asymmetrical warfare is enlightening and terrifying. I have had fireside discussions that include "how would you..." & the smart guys would attack infrastructure. Once, one guy, ( Ranger, decorated Iraq & Afghan front veteran ) mentioned WE terrified HIM with our speculation on mass casualty plans. "If this was a govt. meeting I'd classify this sh%&"

Don't count on terrorists to be too stupid to think of this stuff. The internet is full of articles to steal ideas from.

After all, 9/11/01 was inspired by a Ton Clancy novel.

"Environmental" rules forbid clearing dead trees and brush that easily burns, near homes and power lines.

"Environmental" rules kill people, forests, towns, the economy...

How about a protest where people cut dead, dry brush and truck it to a Protest Hedge around the Governor's Mansion?

I've made containers for particle detectors ( neutrino ) from WW2 5" 38 caliber naval cannon barrels. Arrayed in big tanks in old mines, the containers must be low radiation steel.

steel produced after the Trinity test, and decades of nuclear testing, is all measurably radioactive.

The big neutrino detector in the Italian alps ( where the speed of light controversy was noticed ) is shielded by lead bars salvaged from Phoenician and Roman ship wrecks, borrowed from museums. ( The lead isn't harmed, just piled up, and will be returned when the detector is decommissioned )

When they take the attention away from real pollution so they can spend your tax dollars on massive payoffs to rich businessmen ( who bribe politicians for your money ) to build massive, temporary, "renewable energy" projects, they INCREASE the pollution, deaths, and suffering of the planet.

Cutting down American and South American forests to burn in English boilers is a huge shell game. It just moves the pollution somewhere else, so they can lie about how virtuous they are.

It helps to not teach history.

England's forests were cut down to feed 3 main needs.

In reverse order of damage, least to worst...

Housing. The industrial revolution enabled millions more people to live past childhood. They gotta live somewhere when they grow up.

Warships. The biggest, best, old growth trees were needed for masts, timbers, planking to build the fleet that built the Empire. ( see note below )

Charcoal. The forges and boilers to power the industrial revolution and fabric mills run more efficiently on charcoal than wood.

The technique to make that charcoal was simple, and ancient. Cut down a LOT of trees. Make a big pile of wood, then bury it under several feet of dirt. Set fire to it, then seal the opening so combustion is controlled and without much oxygen. Dig out the charcoal from the stinking pit.

The factory charcoal we use today in our grills is an American ( Henry Ford owned ) invention, a luxury product that's a byproduct of lumber production. ( sawdust and wood chips )

England's forests have been replanted in some areas, and by 2220, there might be a few trees suitable to build 18th century warships again. Or cathedrals.

( one American university planted a copse of trees when it was built to provide beams to repair their buildings ( cathedral & great halls ) & put the maintenance of the little forest in their charter. 2 centuries later, they needed to repair the old buildings, and there was nowhere... Nowhere... You could buy timbers the right size to do so. Then they discovered the founders had planned for this... And left strict orders to plant and maintain the trees for twenty third century needs! )

Note.
While fast growing softwood can be planted and harvested in a sustainable manner for home builders to frame new homes, the renewable scam guys have little incentive to practice good forest management. It's a get rich quick and big scheme that can't be profitable in the long run. So why plant trees you aren't going to get paid for? It's premedieval slash and burn on a biblical scale. Concerned Americans will replant and try to repair the damage done by short sighted political idiocy and rapacious businessman, ( that's why we have more trees today than a century ago ) But you can't make time. We've harvested the bulk of old growth hardwood. There isn't enough Live Oak big enough to build even a small fleet of Constitution class frigates today. ( even one is... Problematic. (Aka, good luck with that ))

The price of aircraft grade spruce is now so high, and hard to get, that carbon fiber is cheaper for home builders to make wing spars & other structural members. It takes generations to grow those trees. ( and forest management insanity rules & the fires created by them means that replacements aren't coming for centuries )

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/07/china _floods_threaten_collapse_of_worlds_largest_dam.ht ml

When the 3 Gorges dam was being built, some Western folk openly worried about the disaster to come when it failed. ( no Chinese worries were allowed )

Giant Dam failures are rare in modern times. We now assume the engineers did their sums and few are concerned that, say, the Hoover Dam will crumble and a wall of water, rock, cars, and bodies will wipe out downstream cities. ( there's some concerns over a flood control dam in CA, Oroville, which has been mismanaged by the State government and I expect to see it in the news next rainy season )

The real problems, short term ( eventually, even the Hoover Dam will fail if it's ignored but lifetimes will pass before that ) are ecological.

The Glen Canyon Dam created cracks in the earth that the water escapes from plus the evaporation dramatically reduces the water that reaches the artificial worlds of So-Cal.

The Aswan Dam ended the yearly floods on the Nile, but that allowed the salt water of the Mediterranean to creep upstream in underlying aquifers, ruining vast areas of farmland. ( plus, since it's Soviet built, I just assume Cairo is doomed with the inevitable Chernobyl levels of poor maintenance )

I don't expect to read what the Three Gorges Dam has ruined in China until they execute the Communists and restore an Emperor. The CCP is fundamentally dishonest, and brutally uncaring about dead peasants.
