Heal up, Brad and do what the recovery nazis tell you to do. You'll be back in the wind in no time! Z |

Glad to hear you got through it with no issues. IIRC from my wife and my father, the main issue after surgery is giving your digestive tract time to adjust to not having a gall bladder. |

Yeppers, Hugh, Joe- so far, haven't gotten to drop the kids off at the pool. But, I just got up after sleeping in MY OWN BED for about 3 hours, after spending the night in my La-Z-Boy fairly comfortably. (My sweetie and the dogs got the main bed last nite, didn't want to risk my first nite with the pooches...) Drinking my regular French roast that we grind here, and took my 2nd stool softener since getting home (I know, TMI), so sometime after breakfast I should get to do what I call a "truckstop dump". My main goal is to basically just get healthy and re-set my habits. In all honesty I've been beering it way too hard, so that's got to go. I'll allow myself some wine, as that's integral to my work, but it's high time to change my priorities. I'll be turning 51 next month, and I've got a LOT to get done this year, so the $$$ I've thrown at beer goes to what really matters. Got home yesterday evening, drank one crappy beer while I watched the last 4 go down the drain. It didn't even taste good! Time to get ahead, not just get by, so I gotta get INSIDE my head, clean house and rearrange the furniture. I've wondered for some time about experimenting with sobriety, now I'm starting the experiment. Sure as HEYULL aint giving up my coffee... (Message edited by 86129squids on April 05, 2018) |

haven't gotten to drop the kids off at the pool. Giving up beer reminded me of the guy whose wife told him that they could no longer afford to buy his beer so he agreed. The next time she came home from the grocery he looked at the receipt and saw $50.00 dollars worth of cosmetics! He told his wife that if he had to give up beer to save money then she needed to give up cosmetics. She said,"but I have to keep myself looking pretty so you'll still desired me!" He says, "That's what the beer was for!!" (Message edited by tootal on April 05, 2018) |

Good one Greg!!! Looks like I'm out of work until after next Thursday, when they take the stitches out... THEN they'll release me back to the hamster wheel. They said typically that'd be the following Monday, but maybe I could jump back earlier. On the 14th, however, Mummenschantz is performing at a theater, walking distance from the house... if I can't make April Buells, at least I should treat myself to THAT show- saw them years ago, truly amazing/mind blowing what they can do. Highly recommended! Oh well. No MC action for a month, no money, crapola. At least it's Spring, and I just saw a pair of bluebirds nesting in one of our boxes out back, yay! |

Squids, Really glad to hear you came through surgery well, and are on the mend! Like others have said, follow Doc's orders. I came to a point where I had to do some serious mental furniture moving as well. I have been sober since 12-25-2007. It's been a rocky road at times, but I'm very grateful for my sobriety. If I can be of help in any way, please do not hesitate to let me know. |

I appreciate that friend. Beer is just too easy. Wine is quite different- I just savor a sip, think, and appreciate the craft it takes to produce beauty in a bottle. Not planning on much other than tea and water, coffee in the AM for the forseeable future. I've got a bottle of stellar Malbec in the cupboard, it'll sit there until we cook an appropriate dinner. A great buddy has "In Vino Veritas" tatooed on his arm... truth indeed. That's all the truth I need. |

Making wine is easier than beer. I do both. You don't have to malt grapes before you use them. You also don't have to mash at specific temperatures, you don't have to boil it, and you don't have to rapidly cool it before fermentation. So relax, and enjoy that beer. Someone worked hard to make it for you. |

In beer there is strength. In wine there is wisdom. In water there is bacterium. |

Every single human that died, throughout history, drank water. That can't be coincidence. I try to use it only for coffee, showers, and flushing the kids. oh yeah, washing the EBR. |

drink more beer or coffee Mike. Just pretend you're in Mexico. Keep in mind, both are diuretics, so you need to drink twice as much. Z |

I quit drinking beer back in '92 but I do love good coffee. After I donated my large intestine for research on how not to treat your digestive tract, water became much more of a big deal, which I learned the hard way.I spent 45 days in the hospital, something I hope not to repeat again ever.I have never been as sick in my life as when I was dehydrated. |

j/k about water... I drink it more when it's summer I would drink more of it if it tasted like the water from my grandparent's well. Deep in central Texas limestone, it was the sweetest water I've ever tasted. Drinking it straight from the windmill added to the treat. Z |

Ahhh- water from the well. I remember my great-great's farm outside of Carthage TN, and the hand pump out back... There's actually a natural spring by the road just south of me, on TN360, that's been set up with a bit of plumbing by the local Rotary club... it's at one of two turns on 360. On the way back from Suches one trip, I had stopped to rest at one of the concrete tables they'd kindly set up by the roadside, drinking an energy drink to wake up... saw a lady in church clothes stop and get out a giant water jug, walked over an started filling up. Curious, I walked over to ask about it, and she said it'd been here for years, folks all around use it regularly. Now I make a point to stop and fill whatever container I may have, THAT'S some good agua. |
