And Prohibition hasn't ended in America, it just morphed into the war on drug-consuming but otherwise law-abiding citizens.

Can't improve on that. You can make a case that Prohibition is a major fail and indeed a major cause of much of the problems in Modern America.

I'm so tired of hearing those douche bags referred to as "Islamists" Me too. It's technically accurate, but doesn't really tell you who they are.

Abraham, Issac, and Jesus were Islamists. They all called God "Allah" because that's the word for God in Aramaic.

Totally wrong. I mean, sure "Allah" is A name for God in Aramaic, but that has diddle to do with "Islamists". There's a name for this kind of logical fallacy, https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/composition-divis ion

An Islamist is a person who, as instructed in the manual, is in favor of the submission of all to the Will of God. In modern context, one who would, if allowed, impose Sharia law upon everyone else.

An Islamic is one who is born Muslim or converted to the faith.

A Communist is one who promotes Communism. He may be a well meaning fool or a murdering fanatic. Ditto Islamist.

If it was a matter of "do it my way" and the response to "no thank you", was "I tried to help, have a nice life", then there wouldn't be an issue.

Everything they do is contrary to Islam. Really? Who told you that? Did you read the manual? I'm going to need some documentation.

If a bunch of crazies were to begin wearing big gold crosses and crucifying folks they didn't like, would we call them "Christian Terrorists" just because that's what they called themselves?

Uh.. Yes. And every not-evil-crazy Christian religious leader & scholar would tell you they weren't really mainstream Christians. The scholars would be partly right, no current accepted Christian denomination I know of approves of that crucifying people we don't like business. They'd be partly wrong because the founders of your imaginary cult might indeed think they were Christians. You are what you believe.

Now, personally, myself, if those imaginary giant cross folk were coming around my parts, I'd expect law enforcement to be watching for them, and I'd try and stay alert to the possibility.

How many would you say there are of the imaginary giant cross folk? A few dozen? We can arrest that many..... a few hundred million? We'd have a serious problem. I won't tolerate crucifixion as a political terrorist act. I assume they have some Holy Reason? That might change how we deal with them. After we stop the torture murder.

....I agree that we need to have a better plan for dealing with them, but genocide is not the answer.

Well, now you got the real problem. Out of X million muslims, only about 200 million are supportive of you being murdered in the name of the Prophet, just because, you are, ( presumably ) not Muslim.

Now that's not "going to kill you" folk, that's "sure, go ahead and kill him" folk.

The "Going to kill you" folk are a much smaller number than that. And as the Caliphate grows and holds territory that number will grow. What's your best guess? 10 million?

Picking them out of the rest of the population isn't that easy. Open to suggestions.

One thing certain is having enclaves of unassimilated people in your nation is a serious problem.

Daesh sounds sort of like the Arabic for Douche bag... not a literal translation, it's a bit more subtle than that.

http://www.theweek.co.uk/isis/62422/islamic-state- daesh-or-isis-the-dilemma-of-naming-the-militants

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/what-daesh -mean-isis-threatens-6841468

Because it is similar to the Arabic words 'Daes', 'one who crushes something underfoot' and 'Dahes', translated as 'one who sows discord'.

so, kind of a pun, but only in Arabic.

Douche bag is substantially accurate as a definition for the group. Although what you have against feminine hygiene I don't know. ; )

Abraham and Isaac spoke Hebrew, not Aramaic. There are several names for God, but allah is not one. Although "El" and "al" sound similar, they're just not the same God.

allah is very likely a Nabataean moon god which mohomed altered to try to convert Jews and Christians (we don't know 100 percent about the nabataean thing but it's probable). He started out peaceful, saying that he was a prophet, or like Jesus. But when Jews and Christians didn't accept his made-up "theology", he became violent. VERY violent.

allah had no son, God's Son came to save the world. It's pretty obvious - just read the books. allah is not God.

These monkeys today are doing EXACTLY what was laid out for them in the qran and the sunnah.

My point was that people have been submitting to the will of God for much longer than they have been aware of "Sharia", a concept that dates back only one thousand years or so. Before the Koran was "revealed" to Mohamed, such folks depended on Hebrew scrolls or Christian writings as their instruction book.

I humbly accept your correction of the name assigned to Jahweh by such scrolls. Before the "new book" was made public, both "old books", the Torah and the Bible, were in agreement on most social issues. Hate and murder have never been facets of obeying the will of the Creator.

I'm going to start with the pure guess that you have a religious belief of some sort you feel strongly about. Just for fun I guess you are a Russian Orthodox. Or Shinto, doesn't matter.

You can, in America, feel free to tell me about how superior your faith is to mine, and how your way is the One Way to get to heaven and everyone else is going to burn in the fires of the bad parts of the Hyperion Realm.

I can feel free to listen, ignore, or argue. I might, if I'm in a mood, tell you how silly your beliefs are, even though that is a bit rude. You, in turn can feel free to be offended I think your beliefs are silly.

You aren't allowed to murder me for disagreeing with you. OR vice versa, pity, eh?

submitting to the will of God while that's what the label on the box says, it's really all about the control of people by the Shamans of the Tribe. Islam has been forbidden by the Shamans to change, it is a political system deliberately locked in 8th century Arab morality. A slave trading culture, to this day.

Mocking the Prophet is a capital crime.
Leaving the faith is a capital crime.
Being gay is a capitol crime.
The list is long.

I have issues with their assertion that the nuclear strikes against Japan were against civilians, and not military targets. They say this is disputed, and then dismiss those disputes out of hand. Both bombs detonated over, or near, military or military industrial targets embedded in civilian populations. Fact.

Also, the Japanese civilians manufactured many parts for the war machine in their own homes then those parts were assembled in factories. You could drop ordinance just about anywhere and hit something of military value.

The firebombing of Japanese cities was killing more than the A bombs did. Plus, as always, if we had invaded Japan, millions of Japanese would have fought to the death. We saved them.

Correct. All 3 of you.

Reports post war from Japanese generals shows Nagasaki was the tipping point. Besides the industrial damage..... and the POW camp. ..... there was an Army Division ( iirc ) wiped out there. When it sunk in that the military, not just civilians were affected by the Bomb, the Emperor called for surrender.

And was nearly kidnapped by a cabal of generals to prevent the announcement. The Imperial guard had a firefight on the way to the radio station.

Civilian casualties meant nothing to the military rulers. They planned on an inch by inch suicide defense.

Estimates were about six million allied casualties and well over fifty percent civilian dead. Children & women with bamboo spears and suicide explosives in mass charges.

Bear in mind the rush to the Bomb was pushed by Nazi work on atomic bombs. It was a combination of bombing & freedom fighters in Norway that delayed the Nazi bomb. ( and Norwegian villages were decimated in mass shootings as punishment for the freedom fighter attacks. Literally. In the Roman manner. Line up all the men and shoot every tenth. )

My grandfather told me the resistance was much hated because of the reprisals but would not stop. I'll never know exactly what he did there, then. But he immigrated after the war & never returned.

The Japanese pre-history of WWII is really interesting. Never let the Army get control of your government, and especially don't let them start a naval war...

They had little regard for *any* life. Not that of their own people, even less so of their enemies. They sacrificed millions freely, and would have continued to do so for as long as they maintained the ability to do so.

This was a GREAT read.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were both heavy industry targets.
That was normal and expected, the hundreds of thousands of civilians were not.

It amazes me that the firestorms of Dresden had more news coverage than Nagasaki.
Both were crimes against humanity that saved, perhaps, millions of lives.

war is a bloody business.
