Glad to hear you have stayed on the green side of the grass with what you have been through! Wow. That sucks. I've skirted the edges of the drain with an infection program or two myself over the last couple of years.....never a fun time. Probably my main reason for so few miles on my Uly as of late. The problem I have found with getting old is simply that some of us are not good at it! Sometimes it seems that the parts fall off faster than they can glue replacements back on. I have been asked similar questions by medical professionals about tolerating the unmedicated pains of particular medical calamities. I found that I am an inverted individual, where as I smile and joke the more it hurts, to the point that sometimes the experts don't believe the problem is real.....until the films are viewed. That does not mean I tolerate it well. I try not to laugh while at funerals, but I'm sure I will be laughing my ass of at my own! Burrito.....My best for your healing process, I gotta go get something to eat! | ||

Here's to a speedy recovery Court! Lifestyle changes can be the most difficult we encounter but anything is possible so be sure to take care of yourself. I am still pretty young but I've had to change almost everything I do. The body is pretty amazing at repairing itself, most of the time, but those repeat injuries and abuse will come back to bite you. Robert | ||

Jerry : Thanks for the kind offer and I don't need a darn thing in the world. My students ..,,.. Who spent an evening watching the door ..., have been marvelous and we've pushed the final to next week. I have 4 young "Elf like" engineers who work for me and they've stepped up and shown their stuff. Amazing. With a bit of luck ...... And removal of some staples .... I'm going to try to fool them into thinking I've got a ride (apparently you can't just walk out) and make the 5 Mike walk home. It's a gorgeous day. There should be a new guitar in the porch and a car coming to take me to Greenwich Village for a 7:00pm performance. Game on. You guys are the best. !! By the way ....... While I've spent my days of horizontiality some higher power treated me to a powerful lesson. I'm not sure I can translate it into words .,.,, but, like you, I've got to try. Give my best to D. You'd hate to not realize how badly your ass has been kicked by this until you get a mile away from the hospital. Maybe an escort would be a good idea, or at least phone home and give them an ETA so they know to come looking for you. | ||

Stay healthy Court. Seriously, ease back into things. I've been where I thought I was rebounded only to find out how little stamina I had, despite feeling great at the moment. Burst appendix does sound like a possibility. Perhaps Court will tell us about it sometime...  | ||

It was indeed a burst/ruptured/perforated appendix. But, that was the reason for the grilling I got ...., they had some dandy photos and called it an "autopsy appendix" ..,.., suggesting that it had been splattered days ago. Tests this morning are looking good ...... Just waiting to have a bunch of staples removed. Hospital will drive me home. We have a bit of a wardrobe problem and the thought of me stumbling down the street in my skivvies .. with my hair ..... Now down over my shoulders ...., would evoke an entirely new set of complications. | ||

A friend spent nearly 10 days literally teetering between life & death, after coming to work in great pain, from a burst appendix. It's a good thing we didn't listen to him insist that he was ok... and got him to the hospital when we did, as later the doctor said another few hours of waiting and the outcome would have likely been different. Years back, I was camping and windsurfing down in Baja. One of our group got pretty sick, but toughed it out for three days. I ran into him again a couple years later on Maui. Turns out that when he got home to San Francisco, he went to his doctor and found out he was lucky to have survived a ruptured appendix so far from real medicine. Court, you can't go until you tell those stories! | ||

Dang, yours all lasted a lot longer than mine did. After a long day of Dr. checks, finally getting home after drinking some kind of awful barium shake and having unspeakable things done to unmentionable openings, I was finally getting back home late at night looking forward to bed. Just as we walked in the door, we heard the end of the message from the Dr's office on the answering machine still being recorded saying "... and you are scheduled for emergency surgery at 4 am and you should leave for the hospital NOW!" It was ready to blow, and they weren't messing around. | ||

Mine happened when I was 3 almost 4. Don't remember much except that I woke up during the surgery and the doctor was screaming, "He's awake dammit!" I'll twist the throttle for your quick recovery. (Message edited by jb2 on May 13, 2015) | ||

back in the day, the foreman of my prestressed concrete bridge crew(when i was the leadman) was acting unlike himself for a couple days at work. you could tell he wasnt feeling well, but all of us being stubborn bastards we all worked through everything... he kept blowing it off when i told him he was looking worse then i had ever seen... a couple days into it, i walked into our office and he was laying face first on the desk, awake but in severe pain and trying to act like he wasnt. i finally said enough is enough and either i take him to the doctor now, or i call his wife and let her chew him a new one, then we go to the doctor... needless to say i took him in and their response was that he wouldnt have lasted much longer. the burst appendix had eaten away at alot of stuff on his insides and he damn near died. to help get rid of the infection it caused they had to leave his wound open. there is something to be said for watching someone pull 10ft of gauze packing out of their guts and replace it with fresh every day... luckily after a time he healed up good as new. luckily i threatened him with a butt chewing from his wife... lol. | ||

Court, One of the side effects of all the heavy duty meds the doctors have given you will be to kill off the bacteria in your intestine. Should one of these doctors recommend a "fecal transplant". Do not buy any of that fancy medical grade material, we in the bad web community can have more shit on your doorstep than any medical institution can conceive of. Court, I'm so sorry to read you are not well. It's a tough struggle to deal with, that I can totally relate with. Getting older with issues sucks bad! I don't have much left for positive thought.
