I think more like he jumped before he was pushed. Judging by the timing of his announcement it was made to cause maximum embarressment for Yamaha just before the two US rounds of th series.

I have read reports that he is '99%' sure to sign for BMW to ride in WSBK next year. I hope he realises that the factory BMW team are pulling out and leaving BMW Italia to carry the BMW torch in WSBK. From what I hear they will NOT be a factory team (certainly a lot less well cupported than either Ten Kate or Althea Ducati in terms of factory support)but will get this years factory bikes (and that is about all in terms of factory support!).

Maybe Ben is hoping he will be back in MotoGP for BMW in 2014, but it will be an uphill struggle trying to develop a brand new GP bike from scratch. He may also find that Marco Melandri is his hardest team mate since Mladin, and certainly not a team player.

I think he would be better off taking a year out and going cycling if stress and politics really are the reasons he is leaving.
