I am looking at building a table lift. I was looking on line and this seems to be the most elusive plans that are out there. Has anyone built one? Yes, I looked at the Harbor Freight unit and was not impressed. Two of my coworkers own them and one hate's it the other is on the the edge of a love hate relationship with it. I believe I could build one for around $200 . If you have pictures, post them please. |

What about a used Handy lift? They are outstanding |

I bought a used Handy lift for $300 on craigs list. It needed a bit of a clean up, and a new valve in the foot control, but that was it. I power it with a small compressor I bought at a yard sale for $50. You don't need much air for these things. |

A buddy bought the HF lift, and it's been in my garage more or less ever since. I've found it to be very useful, I don't have any beefs with it. It really makes working on the bikes nice. |

I was just at HF this weekend and think that, for the price, it's hard to go wrong. |

Jon, I have not been so lucky. Nothing has been posted that I want or am looking for over the last 2 years. Alternatively, if it was it was sold without me knowing. If they did, it would be posted for a grand. There was a HF lift on there for $700 at one time. My coworkers did like there HF lifts when they got them. They even bought a warranty with them. Problem is that when the warranty ran out, the lift cylinder went out on one of them the other guys has his all the way up and now cannot get it down. His 800lb HD is stuck in the air. |

I started with this. Ended up with this. Roughly $430 in materials. 2' wide, 8' long, lifts to about 34-35" max. If I were to build another one, I'd move the front pivot point forward by about another 4" or so. It's probably overbuilt since I used 2" square tube for the frame and the aluminum diamond plate wasn't cheap. I think the piece I bought was maybe $145-150? Based on the design, it's supposedly good for 1000 lbs, I tested it to 700 lbs prior to loading my bike on it. Had the whole family out there on it and I bounced at the end to see if it would break. It barely even whimpered when I sat on it. I don't have the actual plans for it, I just built it from a pic I saw online, don't recall where it was though. |

Nice work Dean. That looks as nice as the Handy brand lift I had for my shop. If you would allow me though, you just might want to ad an automatic wheel chock up front for "handyness". Good job man. |

I have not seen the build process on this lift. I have always seen it finished with the bike on it. That rocks. What wall thickness did you use? |

Roy,I'm going to come see you next time I need medical care.It looks much more pleasant in the garden than in a hospital room. |

Another good choice is a vintage Graiza lift. All the shops around Atlanta used them from the mid 60's through the late 70's.I picked mine up for three bills and mounted a Handy CV-17 Cycle Vise for $170.It's long enough for any thing I want to through up there and has a pull out wheel panel. |

No idea off the top of my head, but if I had to guess, maybe .100" or .125" tops. Just standard 2" square tube and 2x2 angle. Btw, the diamond plate actually wipes up pretty clean. I spilled some oil on it a few weeks ago, used just a rag and it wiped up fine. I didn't put a wheel vise/clamp up front since I knew it would be in the way once I got into the bike pretty deep like this.

I'd have bought a Handy myself if I could have found one within 300 miles or so. Used both electric and air models, both were very good to use. |

I left work early one day to snag this one. Spotted it on craigslist, showed my boss and said I was leaving. He said Ya, you better jump on that. |

Have no issues with the HF lift table in my shop. I am gonna add a spot under it for my Battery tender to stay put. |
